This is a good article.It may hurt some of us if we happen to be the hardworking type who dont pick and choose but it is true. I have personally been on a CRUSADE FOR ATTITUDINAL CHANGE IN HEALTH CARE over the last 5yrs. It is amazing what happens to the ordinary person(even health staff) until some recognises that the victim is some ''important'' person or relative of such. Our politicians and universities are not any better. They admit people with ''CONNECTIONS'' only and not those with passion for the job or those who see health care as A DEVOTION/CALL. Then the politicians know they will always fly out at the least chance to treat themselves(NPP/NDC alike),the administrators and or CEO furnish their offices and homes with the little cash available and leave the emergency room at God's mercy(see SME at korle bu or same at Tamale). Health personell capitalise of this ''shortage'' and make money out of the already poor patients. We then start shouting loud when it has to do with a nurse/doctor/MP/Minister/CEO etc forgetting that it has been same practice all the time so the staff are used to it. I wish Anas will also get into the health sector one day.For some professionals living abroad,it is the fear of getting absorbed into this mess which keeps them away.

Our major problem in Ghana, is lack of wisdom.Our nation and the continent as a whole is blessed by our creator yet we can't enjoy our blessings. Nation building is not book long alone even though education is very importanat. After all the knowledge acquired, we need wisdom to make it beneficial for ourself and the society as a whole.So, the best solution to our problems stated in your nice article is to apply wisdom in our day to day activities,to build our nation. Due to lack of wisdom, we perish at the time we need not to.If the nurse in the video was to apply wisdom to the knowledge acquired, she'll think twice before doing that silly thing. With wisdom,our institutions will function well to help both rich and poor.
We cannot relegate wisdom from our day to day activities and enjoy healthy and sound economy.

Voting for corrupt politicians just breeds corrupt people such as those healthcare workers. It is almost in every clinic to the major hospitals. The corrupt men and women will continue to argue it is everywhere. They forget the very people they have been supporting don't give a shit about their welfare or existence. Go to the nursing and midwifery council, the Ghana medical council or Ministry of health and its filthy with bribery and corruption. Vote for the irresponsible men and women who got their positions and that is what you see above in the video. They infect and corrupt their appointees. SHAME ON ALL THOSE WHO VOTED FOR THIS CORRUPT GOVERNMENT. ENJOY YOUR BETTER GHANA AGENDA WITH POOR NON EXISTENT EMERGENCY CARE.

This is not about NAME CALLING.It is about a CONCERTED EFFORT to rid our system of filth.Can we tell which party this writer is??No! That is what we want. Facts and suggestions for the way forward.I am working hard and looking forward to a day one will just get to the hospital without knowing a nurse/Dr/Administrator/minister and get the VERY BEST OF CARE under the prevailing circumstances.

I sincerely hope some of the people who work within the Healthcare system in Ghana do come across your very well composed article about healthcare in Ghana. Personally, I would say you have definitely hit the rusted nail on the head regarding the lack of practise of good medical healthcare and medical emergency care in Ghana to-day, both services are poor, even non-existent to the average Ghanaian. With the near collapse of the NHIS in the country it looks the faith of the Health Ministry is doomed to return to the original "Cash & Carry" system mostly favoured by the corrupt NDC government administrators, no wonder our top politicians choose to travel abroad in search of proper medical attention whenever their health fail.
