Gonjas are only one single tribe in northern Ghana out of over a 100 tribes. Besides the Prez being a Gonja Man, he has so far nominated only one as a minister designate. C'mmon, Kashaa, don't be petrified at the new coinage "Gonja Mafia". Membership doesn't need to be of native Gonja extraction. I've already applied to join, with the very good credentials I hold. My great grand father married 32 Gonja women and was made a sub-chief near the Daboya area, among other linkages directly even Mahama himself. For instance, we're in Damongo when he was born there and his stepmother was one of my 100s of aunties. I am not joking.

But as an Ewe and and Anlo to boot, I've become used to such jaundiced craps from fellow Ghanaians, the Akanfuo of the Matemeho tradition, and so was much amused by it all, even though he spoiled my fun by inventing an "Anlo Mafia" to replace the alleged "Dzelukope Mafia" of Rawlings. I thought we Ewes at least would be getting some break under the Mahama Papacy, and now he stabbed me in the heart with the Anlo Mafia drivel.

Of course, when names are mentioned as Ewes in certain posts, we find several of such persons to be Akans or Ga-Adangmeis. Most Ewes just say leave those foolish "gbemelas" alone and don't bother to point out those errors. Those of us who do so are said to be wasting our time but I disagree with them for many reasons. I therefore like the way you came out to challenge this Bruce but I wish you were a little bit less heavy on the English.:-) And more detailed on the tribal origins of all the other Northerners named.

BTW, I think Bruce is not an NPP man but a supporter of the Fante Confederacy who thinks their dominance in the NDC is slipping. They make the re-organisation of the Nkrumaist tradition very difficult too, with the hold they have in the CPP. I first heard of Dzelukope Mafia from an NDC operative, someone who even became a Dep. Minister. I think these NDC factions should give us a break with their noisy in-fighting and deliver. They are only winning because the majority of Ghanaian homes have always been against the UP camp and pro-CPP, an allegiance they have shifted to the NDC due to the splintered nature of the Nkrumahist tradition.
