A lot of times it is not necessary to read these lengthy articles from the NPP professors. Yes Ghanaians accept the authority of the SC. It is important though for the NPP to understand that this is not the only election they will ever lose or that there will be irregularities. I don't know how many times they will want the SC to make that decision. I think the best way is for the NPP to try to understand why they lost the election. At the moment to them the election was stolen. Having sworn in the President I believe the Chief Justice and all the judges of the SC have accepted the legitimacy of the President until proven otherwise. The NPP is contesting under the same constitution that says the President is legitimate until proven otherwise. How can you rely on the constitution to seek redress and yet disobey the constitution. They will not take part in vetting and will not take part in bye elections. The NPP wants the court to decide the case yet they have by their actions already decided the legitimacy of the President. Even as a layman I don't think anyone will want to disturb the peace of a country by overturning the votes of the electorate. More so with an excess of 325000 votes over 50%. President Mahama is in for four years.

I have been stating that in his career in law and politics in Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been a Champion of democracy and that he is a genius, who has the ability to exert a powerful influence over others by leading exceptionally. Nana is a man who plans his life and his career moves in a series of steps and stages toward ultimate goals. One of Nana's ultimate goals has always been to become president of Ghana and he has thought about, studied and planned his steps toward that ultimate goal very carefuly. Nana wants to lead Ghana to the entering of the door of becoming a First World economy. How better could be the steps to these final stages, than to lead Ghana, Africa and the world to a means of peacefully over turning a fraudulently counted presidential election. With this grand step Nana will also place himself in a position to win the Nobel Peace Award for showing to the world the way to peaceably achieve and produce a true, permanent democracy, a democracy leading even the USA and Britan in its ultimate democratic perfection.

I was rather hoping to read some serious legal opinions about the powers of the suprememe court of Ghana to "remove the president from office". You should have captioned it "remove the president ..." instead of "remove Mahama .....". You betrayed your biases in the process.

Please also note, and I hope other readers will pick this up: GHANA IS NOT, AND CANNOT BE NIGERIA, A FAILED AND HARD TO GOVERN COUNTRY. At least we have not descended too low to that state yet and nor should we. We have had our fair share of coups but not a CIVIL WAR and we still have the rule of law, thank goodness. I have also met senior Nigerian judges who have every respect for Ghana and would prefer our system of democracy and governance. You make it all look so simple and the comparisons you make are not only irrelevant, they quite miss the core point of you chosen title.

In my humble non-legal or unlearned opinion, it is hard for me to conceive of the supreme court effectively 'dismissing' the president on the basis of its adjudication of the case before it. At best one expect the SC make a ruling, and then make ecommendations for resolution of the case which recommendations will have to be carried out by government may be via a parliamentary process.

I may be entirely mistaken and stand corrected. I would hope that the true legal brains amongst us should throw some more light on this issue. But when you write such cheap articles that discolour the important issues under discussion, you rather undermine intellectual discourse and integrity. That is what worries me more than the fact that your analogies and case examples are so misplaced.
