  Damoah cannot be further from the truth.Our state institutions are weak and ineffective mainly as a result of over politicization and over-reaching interference from government sources. State Institutions mean jobs for the boys in a belly-up economy that is not job creating and there's an uninhibited over-reliance on government created jobs.Mostly people so employed see nothing, hear nothing and say and do nothing except when prompted and prodded by the hiring agent, the government, which also has firing powers. Looking for a job in Ghana is like looking for a cool refreshing fountain of water on the Sahara desert.Most people depend on government generosity to acquire a job and once they land a job they will always do the bosses' bidding to keep that job.State Institutions' employees will only be effective if they don't have to look over their shoulders whilst on the job and are totally independent.In Ghana the word independence has just one meaning - the wrestling of political power from Britain to become a sovereign state. Apart from this usage, the word is a dirty word and it's seldomly used. Weakened state institutions only work and exist for the ruling government but not for the ordinary ghanaian citizen walking in the street. If we want to progress as a nation then we must demand for the total transformation and independence of state institutions. There must be a hands off approach from governmental sources.
