I just left Ghana a week ago and witnessed two accidents which claimed three lives in one single day on the N1, precisely at Awoshie junction and Lapaz. I've never been traumatized in my whole life until that fateful day.
I still can't understand why one would cross a highway right underneath a footbridge. I wonder if those I witnessed doing that realised the purpose of the footbridge or were just dare devils.
You should understand by now that the Ghanaian have no regard for safety. The attitude of the people toward safety is very piss poor and that can be seen in their everyday lives.
Here in Canada, time kills people but in Ghana people just die...life is basically cheap over there!
I am glad someone is challenging these useless road designers and government officials who take pride in getting paid for absolutely no work done!

The deaths on the road are as a result of the stupidity of Ghanaians not to respect simple rules and regulations. There are straight lines on the side of the road indicating that pedestrians must not cross the road where people get themselves killed. Mr. Ato I think that you and your children do not pass through your window to enter your room because the window is near to the road. You do not also climb your wall to enter your compound because it is near the road. Look at the money that is used to erect welded mesh in the centre of the road to prevent people from crossing the road at unapproved points. Can't that money be used for some other purpose? Ghanaians must behave like beings and not a herd of animal.

Mr Kwame you have the same problem as the Ghaniains you are accusing of being stupid. For goodness sakes read the article again and you find out why according to Ato the people are crossing at wrong places

Why not tunnels under the highway at points where the foot bridges are sopposed to be built. The tunnels will be cheaper and safer. No rubbisih and waste will be dopping on to the highway.
