First the Guy who got twenty years might be a habitual criminal with a prior record of rape or felony conviction. He might have used a weapon in the attempted rape, etc. Judges look at every situation and pass judgement.

On the Guy who got ten years, this might have been his first crime. Also the Judge might have looked at his age. He might have been 18, 19, or twenty. Though his case is still rape even if the 13 year old accepted to have sex with him. When force is not used in such a situation, the Judge might decide not to punish you to the maximum penalty the law allows him or her to mete out.

You cannot read the synopsis of report in stories published in the newspapers or website and think you have been given the circumstances surrounding both cases.

Secondly, both cases might have been j cadged by different Judges. Just like school where some Teachers are lenient in their grade assignment and others are strict, the same thing goes on with Judges. Some of them don't believe in leniency and rehabilitation. I know of this Judge called

Old Testament
The first mention in the Bible is in Genesis 19:1-13. The wicked men of Sodom attempted a homosexual rape of two messengers from God who had come to visit Lot. As a result of this and other widespread wickedness, God destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah in a storm of fire and brimstone.

The next two mentions are in Leviticus:

Life was harsh in early Old Testament times. The wanderings and struggle for survival of the Israelites did not permit prisons or rehabilitation. Anyone who deviated seriously from the norm was either stoned to death or exiled. The Old Testament prescribed the death penalty for the crimes of murder, attacking or cursing a parent, kidnapping, failure to confine a dangerous animal resulting in death, witchcraft and sorcery, sex with an animal, doing work on the Sabbath, incest, adultery, homosexual acts, prostitution by a priest's daughter, blasphemy, false prophecy, perjury in capital cases and false claim of a woman's virginity at the time of marriage.

Homosexuality is quite common in the animal kingdom, especially among herding animals. Many animals solve conflicts by practicing same gender sex.

From the middle of October until next summer the Norwegian Natural History Museum of the University of Oslo will host the first exhibition that focuses on homosexuality in the animal kingdom.

"One fundamental premise in social debates has been that homosexuality is unnatural. This premise is wrong. Homosexuality is both common and highly essential in the lives of a number of species," explains Petter Boeckman, who is the academic advisor for the "Against Nature's Order?" exhibition.

The most well-known homosexual animal is the dwarf chimpanzee, one of humanity's closes relatives. The entire species is bisexual. Sex plays an conspicuous role in all their activities and takes the focus away from violence, which is the most typical method of solving conflicts among primates and many other animals.

"Sex among dwarf chimpanzees is in fact the business of the whole family, and the cute little ones often lend a helping hand when they engage in oral sex with each other."

Lions are also homosexual. Male lions often band together with their brothers to lead the pride. To ensure loyalty, they strengthen the bonds by often having sex with each other.

Homosexuality is also quite common among dolphins and killer whales. The pairing of males and females is fleeting, while between males, a pair can stay together for years. Homosexual sex between different species is not unusual either. Meetings between different dolphin species can be quite violent, but the tension is often broken by a "sex orgy".

Homosexuality is a social phenomenon and is most widespread among animals with a complex herd life.

Among the apes it is the females that create the continuity within the group. The social network is maintained not only by sharing food and the child rearing, but also by having sex. Among many of the female apes the sex organs swell up. So they rub their abdomens against each other," explains Petter Bockman and points out that animals have sex because they have the desire to, just like we humans.

Homosexual behaviour has been observed in 1,500 animal species.

"We're talking about everything from mammals to crabs and worms. The actual number is of course much higher. Among some animals homosexual behaviour is rare, some having sex with the same gender only a part of their life, while other animals, such as the dwarf chimpanzee, homosexuality is practiced throughout their lives."

Animals that live a completely homosexual life can also be found. This occurs especially among birds that will pair with one partner for life, which is the case with geese and ducks. Four to five percent of the couples are homosexual. Single females will lay eggs in a homosexual pair's nest. It has been observced that the homosexual couple are often better at raising the young than heterosexual couples.

When you see a colony of black-headed gulls, you can be sure that almost every tenth pair is lesbian. The females have no problems with being impregnated, although, according to Petter Boeckman they cannot be defined as bisexual.

"If a female has sex with a male one time, but thousands of times with another female, is she bisexual or homosexual? This is the same way to have children is not unknown among homosexual people."

Indeed, there is a number of animals in which homosexual behaviour has never been observed, such as many insects, passerine birds and small mammals.

"To turn the approach on its head: No species has been found in which homosexual behaviour has not been shown to exist, with the exception of species that never have sex at all, such as sea urchins and aphis. Moreover, a part of the animal kingdom is hermaphroditic, truly bisexual. For them, homosexuality is not an issue."

Petter Bockman regrets that there is too little research about homosexuality among animals.

"The theme has long been taboo. The problem is that researchers have not seen for themselves that the phenomenon exists or they have been confused when observing homosexual behaviour or that they are fearful of being ridiculed by their colleagues. Many therefore overlook the abundance of material that is found. Many researchers have described homosexuality as something altogether different from sex. They must realise that animals can have sex with who they will, when they will and without consideration to a researcher's ethical principles."

One example of overlooking behaviour noted by Petter Bockman is a description of mating among giraffes, when nine out of ten pairings occur between males.

"Every male that sniffed a female was reported as sex, while anal intercourse with orgasm between males was only "revolving around" dominance, competition or greetings.

Masturbation is common in the animal kingdom.

"Masturbation is the simplest method of self pleasure. We have a Darwinist mentality that all animals only have sex to procreate. But there are plenty of animals who will masturbate when they have nothing better to do. Masturbation has been observed among primates, deer, killer whales and penguins, and we're talking about both males and females. They rub themselves against stones and roots. Orangutans are especially inventive. They make dildos of wood and bark," says Petter Boeckman of the Norwegian Natural History Museum.

For someone like me who believe in the fewer the merrier, if a man wants to be a homosexual, I do not see where the problem is! It only means more women for the heterosexuals, so what is the problem, if some potential rivals are foolish enough to eliminate themselves even before the game begins? What we consume has a direct impact on our health, what others do with their sex life in the privacy of their rooms, could not remotely endanger the value of the cedi not the quality of life of the general citizenry. Growing GMOs can poison all of us! Yet no one is talking about that!

Someone told me recently that whenever you see Ghanaians arguing heatedly outside of our electoral cycles, it is either about sports or homosexuals! Isn't it amazing? If the intention of the President was to divert public attention from more serious issues he did not want the public to focus on, the nomination of Nana Oye Lithur was a brilliant move!

For the avoidance of any doubts, let me make it clear that it is none of my business to tell others what they do in the privacy of their homes, and I care more about the propagation of GMOs into our food chain than who sleeps with who!

Apart from an unconfirmed account that Sodom and Gomorrah burnt down as a result of homosexual activities, we have not seen the San Francisco Fire Service doing extra jobs related to fire outbreaks associated with homosexuality, yet San Francisco probably has millions more homosexuals than were ever assembled in Sodom and Gomorrah!

Homosexuals do not cause fire outbreaks! And even if they did, lynching them is not a solution either! We have a civilization to protect, a democracy to defend! You don't go around policing two consenting adult citizens on the basis of what they do to each other in the privacy of their bedrooms!

Why should it be made compulsory for all men to sleep with women? If some people are foolish enough to go and look for other men, why should that bother heterosexual males? Isn't it the fewer the merrier? The more homosexuals we have around us, the less the competition for the women, and the more for the remaining heterosexuals! So what is the problem? I wouldn't mind living in a city full of homosexual men and a lot of heterosexual women! I even suspect that it is probably even better than Paradise!

How I wish all those womanisers that ever bothered with the women I have been with since growing up were all gay! Yes, you got me right. So far as my own sexual orientation is not undermined by what others do in their lives, I have no problem. For a heterosexual male who is not superstitious, I see the elimination of potential rivals by means of homosexuality, as a blessing!

There is something about homosexuality that gives me the creeps, but so far as they do this outside of my vision, or hearing, I really care less. Indeed, to be honest, my problem is with the lesbians. Not all, of course, only the beautiful ones who may reject me because they prefer to do it with another woman!

This is not the same thing as genetically modified organisms or GMOs. Our attention has been drawn to a statement issued by a group that calls itself, "Food Security Ghana". The statement alleges that:

"During the vetting sessions in Parliament Mr. Humado gave some indications, as reported in the media, of his focus or priorities for the food and agricultural sector.

Firstly he advocated the use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO's) in commercial farming to boost the country's food security."

I invite all those dispensing their energies on ENSURING THAT WE DO NOT GROW AND EAT POISON! People must do their own independent research and inform themselves about the dangers pertaining to the inundation of GMOs into our food chain!

The fact that you did not see Ghanaian homosexuals twenty or thirty years ago does not mean there were no homosexuals in Ghana. Homosexuality has been with Ghanaians as long as the country has been in existence. Do remember what goes on amongst girls in secondary schools called "SUPI"? Even in the 50's, rumors of boys on boys sex in some boys secondary schools in Cape Coast was going on. Homosexuality is now acceptable in the western culture that is why you see them publicly.

Whoever you may think your culture is following, they don't smile upon incest or bestiality. So if that is something you truly have an issue with, your following those people on that as well.
