I am wondering what africans are doing about solving our energy problems, excuse my words but we are behaving like fools.
We have the source of free energy why dont we develope it?
The countries that have easy access to energy like nuclear and so on are even developing solar so what is wrong with africa, are our people brainless or what?
Nigerians have had power problems for God knows how many years and its the citizens who have invested in their own solar products but their governments is doing nothing.
too bad.

I have had a solar power system for over 15 years. It has been cost-effective. Also relevant to ameliorating the poor delivery of utility services is the issue of water supply. Does it not make sense for every household to invest in harvesting rainwater, instead of letting most of it flow into gutters? I have done so for years and have therefore never had to purchase water from tankers. Moreover, my Ghana Water Company monthly bill is negligible because I wash my car and water my plants with the harvested rainwater. Let is be smart today and tomorrow.

This is no brainier but for how long would our foolish and stupid policy makers put policies in place to support the ever-suffering Ghanaian to benefit. Solar power should be the backbone of the economy but the only reason our politicians are not allowing solar power to become ubiquotous is that, they cannot get their usual ten percent cut or kickbacks that they get from big projects like Bui dams and other big thermal projects.

I think Mr. Kofi Thompson has made a very good economic point here and I hope the policy makers are listening. They shouldn't listen to the IMF adise because the IMF is only there to make a buck on it loans and doesn't care about the plight of Ghanaians, so all they keep telling the government is to increase revenue to be able to repay the loans.
kofi Ghanaians need not pay taxes on food, clothing and other basic personal needs. I live in the states and I tell you what; no one pays tax on food item, clothing and medical supplies typically medication (medicine). Its about time this tax nonsense stops because its killing ordinary Ghanaians and also strangling our near to nothing local industries.
The saddest part of it is that most of the revenue ends up in the bank accounts of the politicians and government officials. A 4 year tax free economy will lift Ghanaians' standard of living like magic. Its time to led the people be free.

Sensible suggestion.
We also need to encourage the public to go solar by establishing companies selling and installing solar panels in the regions.
