I have been someone who is advocated for the integrity of EC and fair-mindedness of the EC under Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan who I honestly believe is an honorable who has served his country with great distinction. But I believe as a matter of fairness that the EC owes it to the good people of Ghana to explain how on earth they "genuinely erroneously" arrived at the figure 14,158,000 which was used as the basis of the declaration of the provision on December 10th, 2012. Given it was corrected, but I believe the actual figure of 14,031,000, which was said to have been available to the parties in mid September, should have been very much available to Dr. Afari Gyan instantly. Just like not being sure of the number of your own children will raise questions of infidelity and mistrust the EC must come up with an detailed explanation of how and who genuinely erred. That will make them more credible. In the same vein the NPP must explain how they erred in the computing of their 1,340,000 figure which they had to correct (aka amend)
Having said that the NPP will then have to answer if they were satisfied and agreed to work with the Voter Register given them in mid-September, and also whether there were any discrepancies between the register used on December 7&8 and that given to them before the elections (which they did not object to) Maybe Ms. Jackson can get us some answers. Thanks

Now listen,the EC did not declare provisional results based on 14,158,000 or 14,031,000.These figures are given as total number of voters who registered for the 2012 general elections.The EC declared the results of valid votes cast on the 7th and 8th Dec.2012 which was about 11 million plus.This could not affect the declaration like what NPP is saying.Voters Rigister takes place before elections but Voters Turnout takes place during elections,it's only the turnout results that the EC uses in declaring a winner and a loser but not the register.The voters register is used for checking over voting,absentees and spoiled votes,the difference is clear.Thank you.

Perfectly true! The winner was declared based on VALID VOTES CAST. But my question how did the EC come out up with the figure 14,158,000 as total registered voters. The EC quoted that figure as the total registered voters albeit they acknowledged it as a genuine error. Was it an arithmetic error? When did this error happen. A voters register was given to the 2 parties in September by the EC, should we not ask the total no. of the registered voters in that register? And if that register had the total as Z, will it not be incumbent on the whole Chairman of EC to have it readily at his disposal on such an important day as the day he was declaring the results. And since that didn't happen and a genuine error occurred I believe the owe it to the people of Ghana to explain how the error came about. Again I will beg to differ on your assertion that the variance of these figures could not affect the results because if that error is not fully explained that leaves room for 127,000 votes that could have been illegally counted. Now if on the other hand the register used on Dec 7&8 was the same as that which totaled 14,031,000 then the NPP's case would have no merit. BUT THE QUESTION MUST STILL BE ANSWERED: DID THE VOTERS' REGISTER USED ON THE DAYS OF ELECTION CONTAIN EXACTLY THE CORRECT NUMBER OF REGISTERED VOTERS AS THE EC'S CERTIFIED FIGURE OF 14,031,000?

Just appoint a panel of independent mathematicians to collate the results of the pink sheets from the EC and compare it with that of the duplicate Copy of the NPP and other parties and if there is any discrepancy, the EC would have to explain before the panel why so. If there is not then the case should be summarily dismissed so that the country should move. We are tired of partisan reports and allegations and counter allegation emanating out of this elections issue.

The number of registered voters given by the EC before election was 13,917,366 and the number announced during declaration of results is 14,158,890. This is a difference of 241,524. (if you like, approximate it to 241,000). The EC then fraudulent bloated the figure for foreign voters by a similar number of 241,000.
