The typical Ghanaian is made to believe that you have to humble your self to get what you want. I for a reason has never been looked down upon by any nigerian born of a woman. It all adds up to confidence in yourself. The Senegalese will not accept that kind of trampling by any one. Some Ghanaians have given the Nigerians this chance and it is a pity. Cowards are always cowards so in the first place will like to scare and make the competitor feel insignificant. The truth is Nigerians attend school in Ghana and not the way round. You will note that even in London where you reside, the 419 crimes led by a sophisticated gang or Nigerian origin is well publicised.

In parts of Ghana e.g. around the Achimota and Christian village area of Accra, some sophisticated criminals have settled and recruit young unemployed 'Ghanaian men' who are a menace involved in daylight robberies along our roads and highways. I have also seen at first hand on the highway from Okada to Lagos in broad daylight, armed robbers stopping vehicles and trying to rob people. I was lucky in the sense that we were being accompanied by 2 armed police officers on our detail.

Now we see 'copycat' daylight attacks in Ghana by gangs who are a mixture of Ghanaians and other nationals (primarily of Nigerian origin) and for long distance overnight journeys, police and the army have to escort vehicles for part of the way. Is this something you want to see anywhere? In a country which has enjoyed peace, harmony and law and order for a long time(not without crime) compared to our brothers and sisters in Nigeria, won't you feel aggrieved that a small group of hardened criminals cross the border and come to lead criminal gangs in such a peaceful and welcoming country?

Sure, we should not generalise and I am definitely against stereotyping, but we must certainly identify and characterise the 'goats' of Nigerian origin who are taking advantage of the Ghanaian environment to rob, kill and create unease in an otherwise peaceful country. Would you agree?

I was thinking in the past that people who make these comments simply prefer to vilify Nigerians alone but being a regular visitor now to this website, I discoverwed that they even talk dirtier shit against themselves (their different regional or tribal groupings) than Nigerians. So forget about what they are saying. They are worst against themselves, posting low quality comments that should you say it that individual in the face he/she is going to make real trouble with you. I know a lot of Nigerians who are visting Ghana and myself I have been visiting Ghana regularly. You hardly see the good people of Ghana insult you the way yopu see in these comments. They are polite to you and you can see very many good people there who when you mention that you are Nigerian they will warm up to you in conversation and say either they have been to Nigeria in the past or they have relatives who are still there as were are making these comments now so you will see much civility in the people even in the way they drive cars on their roads and also relate with you. I think that those who come to post these low quality comments against Nigerians and their fellow Ghanaians have a problem of hate in themselves which they can not resolve and they try to vent it out on the website whenever they come to make comments here. Let me say here that if your comments does not educate or strictly address issues under discussion, you have not shown that you are a rational individual. The quality of comments you post reflects the quality of human being you are. Come to Ghana or Nigeria or any other African country which I have been previlaged to visit,I do meet good people. Thanks to the guy here who told you that you can stay with his family in the UK. Honestly, the sheer cruelty, utter discrimination and cold-blooded treatment Ghanaians suffered in the hands of Nigerians are no where comparable to the cosy treatment they are enjoying in Ghana now. Tony himself will attest to the fact that Nigerians are expert at generating their ingenuity in planning and implementing top level criminal activities, notably the worldwide renowned 419 scheme and brutal inhouse and highway road armed robbery in their own country. Tribal friction are very much daily occurrences resulting in houses being set ablaze and merciless killings.

Ghanaians therefore have every reason to be wary and complain of the rate at which Nigerians are invading the country. If they (Nigerians)are not happy, they have the free will of going back to their country.

Also, do not generalize the whole thing because it is not a popular notion. I don't even remember the last time i read an article about Nigrians' negative activity in Ghana. I happen to be a Ghanaian who spent 6 years in Nigeria. In fact, i grew up in Nigeria. There was no day that i did not hear omo Ghana ole. One of my colleagues went and bought a JVC stereo from inside Lagos and when he disembarked from the molue in Idi mangoro it was raining so he went and took shelter behind someone's window. On noticing him, the man came out and started shouting omo Ghana ole and within 15 minutes the neighbours pounced on this poor Ghanaian and killed him. Ghanaians meanwhile did most of the construction and odd jobs in Nigeria. Some of us had our wages and salaries unpaid. My boss was owing me over N2,000 in 1981 when i was leaving, an amount that could buy an old 504 car. So as much as i understand your frustration, i think you cannot compare it with what the Ashantis are enduring in their own country, which is something the government should take steps to educate Ghanaians about(tribalism in general). At least, we are in the 21st century. This is not to say that if what you are saying is true action should not be taken.

A "friend of a friend" put him in touch with a nefarious underworld Nigerian figure that went by the name of "Artie." Artie explained to the Nigerian husband that his going price for snuffing out a spouse was 5,000Cedis
The husband said he was willing to pay that amount but he wouldn't have any cash on hand until he could collect his wife's insurance money. Artie insisted on being paid something up front. The man opened up his wallet, displaying a single Cedi bill that rested inside. Artie sighed, rolled his eyes, and reluctantly agreed to accept the dollar as down payment for the dirty deed.

A few days later, Artie followed the man's wife into the local Shop Rite grocery store. There he surprised her in the produce department and proceeded to strangle her with his gloved hands. As the poor unsuspecting woman drew her last breath and slumped to the floor, the manager of the produce department stumbled onto the scene.
Unwilling to leave any witnesses behind, Artie had no choice but to strangle the produce manager as well. Unknown to Artie, the entire proceedings was captured by hidden cameras and observed by the store's security guard, who immediately called the police. Artie was caught and arrested before he could leave the store.

Under intense questioning at the police station, Artie revealed the sordid plan, including his financial arrangements with the hapless husband. And that is why the next day in the newspaper, the headlines declared:

I wouldn't want to be judged by the actions of my twin brother let alone someone I have never known or met before who only happens to belong to the same tribe or a citizen of my country.God in his wisdom created all men equal and in his own image and likeness. He prepares for each people a place, whether it's Ghana, Nigeria or wherever that is best for their growth and development and places them there in the fashion that best suits their needs and his plans for them. As it is some of the people turn out to be good, some others bad and some even evil according to their own choices.There are good and bad people everywhere you go wherever people live. While traveling and playing my music in Igboland in the early 1980s I was shown by my friendly and hospitable Igbo friends the place from where they claim the Asante group of Akans migrated to Ghana. The war of words between Nigerians and Ghanaians must stop now for if unchecked it may lead to pogrom or genocide as happened to the Igbo people in the prelude to the Nigerian Biafran war. Africa must unite. Ghana and Nigeria can set the tone for an all Africa union. I'm done.

In Ghana we hurl insults at each other just for the silly reason that we belong to different tribes.How can the entire African continent unite when unity is as elusive as the shadow in Ghana.In unity lies strength. In unity lies peace, stability, progress and development.If I was president of Ghana my first order of business would be to unite all ghanaians. It's the lack of unity and a univision that has impeded and often stagnated our growth and development. There cannot be unity when we disrespect and throw insults at each other.Africans must unite. Even Bob Marley,a Jamaican reggae superstar saw the need and sang about it. 40 years later we are still struggling with unity. Be prudent and support African unity. Charity they say begins at home. I think I have come to conclude that it is useless reading comments here since they are only made by very dimwitted people, be it Ghanaiaians or Nigerians or other nationals who come to post these hate comments while the good ones are out there, busy minding their businesses and doing just what you said; building relations both in Ghana and Nigeria and across boards, reaching out to other nationals while these low quality people with low quality comments are busy destroying those good works on this website. I happened to have appendisectomy at Ridge hospital & there I met one Ghanaian who has spent more than 2 two months there over non payment of his hospital bill. I asked him how much can you afford of the total bill. He said his mom has less than 50% of the hospital bill. I was still on admission there when I told him call your mom let her bring the much she has, I will pay the balance of the bill, you are going home the next day and that was how I took on more then 75% of his bill let them release him from the hospital. I can't even remember his name now. I don't know him and he is not a fellow Nigerian, One lady I employed who was helping my wife in house chores was also a beneficiary of good bridge building such that when I lost my job and could no longer sustain her monthly payment, I referred her to the wife of a pastor in our church who employed her and continued paying her monthly only that she disappointed us by stealing from the woman along the line. Go to ridge hospital & mention what I said above it happened in October 2009 they will confirm that to you. In fact one of the nurses said ah she did not know that Nigerians are this kind and jokingly said she will come for me to her to Nigeria and everybody was laughing. I said do you want to break my marriage. I have also been helped before by a Ghanaian who gave me 100 GhC when I had no job and that money meant a lot to me. So what am I saying, low quality comments whoever makes it whether Nigerian or Ghanaian or any person from any other nation is not doing good. The human mind is like nose that smells & feels every comment read & said just the way the nose respond to good or bad smell. People should be watchful of what they say because all wars that were fought and yet be be fought in this world today all come by people running their tongue loose. I will never forget what a colleague of mine told me that happened in his daughter's school in the UK. The daughter came home one day and said daddy she is not proud of being black. The parents were shocked and said did anybody at school said such stuff to you? and she admitted that a fellow little girl told her that black is bad and white is good. The next day this man personally took the daughter to school and made formal protest against this comment. Do you know what the school authority did? After their investigation to confirm that the girl actually said that to this little girl. THEY SUMMONED THE PARENTS OF THE OFFENDING GIRL TO SCHOOL AND SUMMARILY DISMISSED THIS GIRL FROM THAT SCHOOL. Here we are saying damnably horrible things to each other. Those doing this should consider themselves fools and whoever. replies such comments with equally bad ones has just failed to do what the bible said (Answer not a fool in his own folly lest you be considered a foolish person like him/her) Other nationals have moved forward and here we are, spilling out primitivity as if it is a group of wild animals fighting fighting each other over nothing at all. Yes, so many Ghanaians were treated badly but so were Nigerians under Busia's Aliens Compliance Order. Instead of the tit for tat mindset we should build a place in Africa blacks can be proud of. Now that the political and economic barometer has moved Ghana's direction, all hands must be on deck to help improve the lots of Africans. Let all Africans including Nigerians help build Ghana. When Ghanaians were in Nigeria their efforts helped to improve the plights of average Nigerians. There were teachers, engineers, doctors,nurses and common laborers who contributed their share in helping Nigeria to grow. Now, Ghana should also benefit from the resources our brothers and sisters across the boarder can offer. The criminal elements should be flushed out to enhance that growth. The infighting only paves the way for non Africans to drain our resources with inpunity.

Everywhere then was one particular dance step you dance a little bit you bend down as if you want to pick something from the ground. One other song was called Okukuseku. Everywhere then was Ghana music & Ghana tailors, in fact if a Ghanaian tailor has not sown you one of your latest clothes you dont belong. Because they are known to be very meticulous and can sow you clothes that looks as if they were sown in London. One lady in her late fifties or early forties was in the village where I went to secondary school & everybody addresses her respectfully as mama Ghana. Thanks Mr Martin you have just taken me through memory lane read my other comments. The Igbos of then Anambra and Imo States have immense love and respect for ghanaians and especially ghanaian highlife music and the Asante people.The music of Uhuru, Broadway ,Stargazers, E.T. Mensah,Ramblers, African Brothers,City Boys and Okukuseku were magically adored.Eddie Quansah,Nana Ampadu, Eddie Donkor,Adofo, Kofi Sammy(they called him Sammy Kofi), Paa Bobo(Agogo), etc, were household names.
I was a musician and lived in Kano, Onitsha(Nkpor Junc), Nnewi(Ojukwu's hometown), Oraifite and later at Aba (Ogbor Hill). There were notorious criminals like Otondo in Onitsha and Oponko Chairman in Aba.I met them personally but they never hurt anybody I knew and were particularly friendly to musicians.In Aba Ogbor Hill my music group met an old Igbo man who taught us how to live an enjoyable life in Aba. He said "Here na Aba o, if you bend down you go see am well but if you no bend down you no go see am well". He simply meant treat people as you want them to treat you. We heeded his advice and had a memorable stay in Aba, sometimes treated as kings,
My life among the Igbos spans from 1977 to 1983 and it was really memorable. My band whilst in Ghana(Bisa Goma 1974 to 1977) specialized in western music but we were forced to play root music(indigneous highlife) because of the high demand for the music and I never regretted the experience. It was so soulful and spiritual and the response from the Igbo crowd was phenomenal. Some of my happiest moments was my time among the Igbos.I have traveled the length and breadth of Nigeria and I can say with authority Nigerians are some of the nicest people I have ever met in my entire life.Nigeria is a huge country with a huge population.They have several millions of good people as well as several millions of bad people.The proportion of good to bad people may just be as equal to the proportion of good to bad people in ghana and everywhere.If you happen to have come across a lot of bad people from Nigeria it'd still be unfair to label all Nigerians as such.Maybe most ghanaians may not have been as privileged as I was to have lived among millions of good Nigerians so it's easy for them to make a hasty intemperate judgement on all Nigerians.Nigerians who are as ignorant and intemperate like their ghanaian counterparts regard ghanaians with the same negative attitude.Having lived in both Ghana and Nigeria and the United States and after travelling through other parts of Africa including Togo, Benin,Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Sierra Leone,Zimbabwe,and South Africa I can say with authority that people are the same everywhere.There are good and bad people everywhere. Mind you I've had lots of contact with Arabs and Jews,europeans, canadians, south and central americans and asians.
Africans must heed the call by Nkrumah, Marcus Garvey and Bob Marley to unite for we do so to our own advantage and failure to heed the call will be to our detriment.

As for your question about Nigerian government preventing Ghanaians products from entering the Nigerian market, I don't think it is right, if your allegation is true. However, I would advised the Ghanaians government to seek redress at the ECOWAS court. After all, that was the purpose of ECOWAS.

The Nigeria Union of Traders Association Ghana (NUTAG) is unhappy with the closure of the shops of some of its members by officials of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

Over 40 shops belonging to Nigerian traders in the Okaishie Market area in the Central Business District of Accra were closed down on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 and traders were ordered to vacate the place without an alternative.

A notice signed by K.N. Atuahene, which was pasted on the shops titled, “NON GHANAIANS ENGAGED IN TRADING IN MARKET PLACES read, “It has come to the notice of the taskforce that you are engaged in trading activities in the market place. Your activities contravene section 18 of GPIC Law 1194 (Act 478).

Please take notice that your continuous operations from the market will no more be countenanced and that your shop has been permanently closed from today.

In case you have any difficulties related to the actions of the task force please do not hesitate to contact the undersigned at the Ministry of Trade and Industry.”

However, the aggrieved persons claimed they were mistreated at the Ministry when they approached the officials for dialogue.

Some of the affected persons, who spoke with CITY & BUSINESS GUIDE, said they were being maltreated contrary to the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) trade laws.

Meanwhile, Chinese and Lebanese have been allowed to trade openly even though they are not part of ECOWAS.

Deacon John Igwe Ukala, the president of the group, equated the treatment being meted out to them to the reintroduction of the Aliens Compliance Law under the Busia regime.

He insisted that once Ghana is a signatory to the ECOWAS treaty, it is obliged to treat persons from the ECOWAS region like Ghanaians since its citizens also receive same treatment abroad.

He called on both the Nigerian and Ghanaian governments to prevail upon the Trade Ministry to rescind its decision.

Deacon Ukala said they may have to go to the ECOWAS court to seek redress if the situation does not improve.

Deacon Ukala said even though he had lived in Ghana since 1971, it has been difficult for him to naturalize, adding that the processes are cumbersome.

Damiaw Uduba said he paid over GH¢25,000 as goodwill for his shop for a 10-year period and operated his bicycle spare parts business for only two years.

The closure of his shop, he noted, had negatively affected him, stressing that he failed to raise the needed amount of money to pay his children’s school fees.

Ghanaians were not even trading in the bicycle parts then but they even trained some Ghanaians, who are now plying the same trade. Asking them to leave now to make indigenes take over is definitely cruel and unfair, he indicated.

He said should they move to a new location, the authorities would ask them to vacate the place.

He therefore advised the ministry to create an ECOWAS market to solve the issue.

If the Trade Ministry insists on the action, we would have no option than to relay the information to our relations back home to replicate the action against Ghanaians in Nigeria, Uduba said.

Prince Ugochukwu Uzokwu, who also has lived in Ghana since 1997, said the ECOWAS mediation proved unsuccessful.

He entreated ECOWAS to take up the matter which he said was assuming a rather serious dimension.

All the aggrieved persons backed their claims with their business registration documents, resident’s permit and other information, which indicate that they are honouring their tax obligations.

Irene Nnadi, a widow, recalled how she struggled to take care of her children.

She said her husband, who lived in Ghana for over 15 years and died last September, started the shop but she took over the business after his death.

Mrs. Nnadi explained that the closure of the shop had adversely affected her.

The Nigeria High Commission is yet to make an official statement on the matter.

ghana loves and embraces any foreigners into ghana without any barrier but when foreigners do anything contrary to our laws and just like any other nation then something has to be done to arrest the situation. tell me how much freedom do one have in nigeria than in ghana. can one walks the street of nigeria at night without any incident. dont be ungrateful for ghanaians laws on immigration is one of the porous in the world because our authourities dont really cares about who comes in and who goes out and you should be glad. about 6 months ago 21 ghanaians were repatriated from nigeria by i think the ogun state governor and they were not even allowed to go for their belongings and their crime being they dont have work permits. how many nigerians even those involved in orchestrated crimes in ghana has been sent back to nigeria by the ghanaian government answer me. dont be ungrateful and just stay n put for ghana is one country where freedom is gauranteed to all including foreigners engaged in big time crimes. you cannot pick just mere words of individuals to nature your article. now let us put our immigration personals into action and you will then realize that half the ghanaian population are all foreigners i dont think so but i know so, so just shut up and stop starting a war you cannot win. kudos to ghana for harbouring everyone including nigerians.

It is no secret how many illiterates are there in your native Nigeria. It is either you are ignorant of the facts on the ground or trying to distort it to suit your shallow mindedness which to me amounts to insult and unfair attack on the general Ghanaian hospitality towards the the Nigerian community.
My humble advise to you is that, you should rather direct your energy at teaching your countrymen to learn to adopt acceptable lifestyle that will make them attractive and earn them respect. The reality on the ground is no secret that a good majority of Nigerians in Ghana are criminals which is contrary to the junk you are trying to make us believe.
Yes, again i agree with you that Ghanaians are not saints but the massive influx of your countrymen are compounding the situation. You can call us whatever name you want but the fact is that about 95% of these guys are involved in criminality in a way and you expect us to be quiet just for the reason of Pan Africanism.
Bear in mind that Ghanaians are content with our illiteracy as you put it. We have our way of life and you have to learn to respect them if you want to have your way because we are prepared to go the extra mile to protect it.
Anybody in his right mind will agree with you that yes Ghanaians have also rejected you guys based on your own assessment. I am afraid to say that if the Nigerian community in Ghana continue on the lifestyle path they have taken which is so abusive of the hospitality that is accorded them, the level of animosity against them will elevate to a point where they might no longer feel comfortable as guests in the very near future.
I have traveled round the world and have met a lot of Nigerians. I saw how they lived their lives and behaved. I also heard of what testimonies they receive and the legacies they left behind. The Nigerian story is not a new thing to any open minded person as you tried to portray.
Therefore, i would like to correct your erroneous impression that Ghanains hate Nigerians for no reason. It is my wish that we can live side by side as brothers and be useful to one another. But if the opposite is the case, then what is your point. It is worthy to keep a useful stranger in the palace than to entertain a waste prince.
The ball has always been in the court of Nigerians in Ghana if they want to live in peace else their days are numbered, take it or leave. Remember there is the limit Ghanaians can go. Thank you
