THAT IS WHY WHEN IT COMES TO REALITY, WHEN PRESIDENT MILLS HAVE CANCER, WHEN THE BABIES ARE JOINED AT BIRTH, THE SO-CALLED ROPHETS PERFORM NOTHING, THEY FAIL.
THIER MIRACLES ARE ONLY STAGED ON TV TO FOOL PEOPLE. TAKE THEM TO THE KORLE-BU CHILDRENS WARD AND THEY WOULD GIVE YOU EXCUSES.

GOD'S MIRACLES ARE WONDROUS- MOSES DIVIDED THE RED SEA, JESUS HEALED A LEPER, JESUS CALMED A STORM AT SEA, DANIEL SURVIVED A LIONS' DEN. HOW MANY OF THESE PROPHETS AND MEN OF GOD TODAY CAN DO ANY OF THESE? NONE! WHY? IF GOD DOES NOT CHANGE AND HE IS THE SAME WHY CANT THESE PROPHETS PERFORM ANY MIRACLES OF THESE ?

BECAUSE ALL OF THEM ARE LIARS AND FAKES. THEY ARE FULL OF RIDICULOUS EXCUSES. THEY ARE LIARS..THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SICK AND DESPERATE PEOPLE. I am not in total agreement with the author's article, but I do agree that Ghana has serious problems with prosperity gospel churches and thier preachers, who often call themselves apostles and prophets. The prosperity gospel churches are now almost ubiquitous on the globe. Are these churches the planting of the Lord? What they are doing speaks volumes of their mission, and who is shepherding them.
"The thief (rival of the Lord) cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly"(John 10:10).

Have you noticed that the many so-called prosperity prophets in Africa make most of their predictions in the beginning of the year? Here is one of T.B. Joshua's predictions for 2013:

"2013 is a year of surprises. I am seeing many great, famous, popular and rich men and politicians will become helpless and in need of help in matters of sickness, disease, finances, death, etc," he said in the service broadcast live on the popular Christian station Emmanuel TV.

Will you have faith in such a prophecy? Let's hear what Bible has to tell us about faith.

What is faith?
"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see"(Hebrews 11:1,NIV).

The story of Adam and Eve illustrates how "unproductive beliief", presumption (the act of presuming or accepting as true), came into existence, and the "doom" it created.

In Genesis chapter 3, we learn of the temptation of Adam and Eve. The holy couple had learned of the history of creation and the injunction placed on the Tree of Good and Evil from God, a revealed knowledge from their Creator.

Sauntering from her husband and finding herself near the Tree of knowledge of Good and Evil, Eve met Satan in the form of a snake.

"Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil"(Genesis 3:1-5).

Notice what the temptation is all about: the revealed will of God as a Creater as evidenced in the injunction he (God) placed on the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil
versus the unrevealed will of God, a speculation of the unknown, a dabbling in uncertainities revealed to Eve at the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.

It is this latter position that the enemy used his deceptive skills to cause a naive Eve to choose, thus placng her own interests above the revealed will of God. The superstition expected from the enemy came as a result of Eve believing the enemy's lies.

Defnition of superstition by Online Dictionary:
1. An irrational belief that an object, action, or circumstance not logically related to a course of events influences its outcome.
2.
a. A belief, practice, or rite irrationally maintained by ignorance of the laws of nature or by faith in magic or chance.
b. A fearful or abject state of mind resulting from such ignorance or irrationality.
c. Idolatry.

Question: how does the community of christian faith stop the doom prophets and their superstion?
"Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican"(Matthew 18:15-17).

Deacon Nkansah, I never said I believe the prophecy of T. B. Joshua. Read my comment again. My comment is against prosperity preachers and their false prophecies. If you will note, I used the Adam and Eve story to illustrate the results of the fatal mistake of choosing presumptious lies of the enemy against the backdrop of the revealed will of God. And get this too: it is this posture of presumption, accepting the unknown and unprovable as true, that we have Evolutionary Science, false teachings and prophecies, Astrology, alternate worship of God, superstitions and alternate lifestyles. HOW DO I KNOW?
These belief sytems go against God's revealed word.

"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?" (Matthew 7:15-16).

"And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?" (Isaiah 8:19}.

Let's not forget that as we draw closer amd closer to the end of the world Satan will become extremely busy to "deceive the whole world" using every deceivable means-- prophecies, miracles etc.-- because "he knoweth that he has a short time."

"Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time" (Revelation 12:12).

"And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ" (Revelation 12:17).

Whilst I agree with you in greater part, I thought it would have been nice to also praise those who are genuinely doing good work, even if they happen to be few.
It is the silence of the knowledgeable ones who should have educated those vulnerable that has led Ghanaians in particular, and Africans generally, to this unfortunate path of the precipice. Reversing this colossal stride would require careful planning, concerted efforts, and persistent education of the masses through various means including seminars, (free) tracts with historical facts like those you mentioned and many more. Resources?
