Let me educate you, Busia was nothing but a traitor, selfish and irresponsible citizen, a liar, tribalist, a bomb thrower, egotistical fool, a manipulator, a man of no sense of direction or duty, a British unscrupulous stooge and a con. Do you remember he demanded his first year salary as a Prime Minister in advance?. Do you know that Busia has respect for Ghana's Constitution and the Judiciary? No he didn't and exhibited this clearly when his government lost the SALAH case and I remember Busia shouting 'no court, no court' in his broadcast to the nation. Busia might have intellectual prowess but politically, he was very infantile. He made noises about the number of motorcade accompanying President Kwame Nkrumah. He made all the academic arguments but what happened when he became the Prime Minister?. His motorcade was associated with a long traffic, about 4 times Dr Nkrumah's. He had his private residence refurbished and renovated free by the state. Something ex-president Bokasa, Kruofor emulated with impunity and contempt to Ghanaians. His rating as a Prime Minister was abysmal, his leadership at Centre for Civic Education which paved the way for him with collaboration with Afrifa and co in boosting his publicity for his political party was in tartars and a complete failure. What a waste of public money!!. You see Kwame Opoku, you should know that Ghanaians like the elephant, never forget the past. So please don't attempt to distort or re-write history by hiding the facts. Prof. Adu Boahene did that but he was exposed before he went to his maker. What a disgrace. Kofi Abrefa Busia was a committed UP member and was no doubt an architect of many violent and bloody atrocities on the political arenas of Ghana. Lesson 1. No-one can re-write history!!!!. So what is the legacy of Kofi Abrefa Busia and what experience that is worth the generation and the people of Bono specially, the youth to learn from. Kofi Abrefa Busia? He might be a scholar but as a sociologist he failed miserably as a citizen and a political leader. The good Ghanaians know Kofi Abrefa Busia more than you might have thought.

Katakyie, I normally refrain from commenting on articles that have the potential to fan ethnic tensions but I am doing so for a number of reasons. First, just to say that Boakye Djan was a Captain at the time of AFRC and not a Major. Captain in the Army is equivalent to Flight Lieutenant in the Air Force.
The question of honouring national figures, heroes and heroines is a matter for all Ghanaians and not just family, ethnic or regional members of the person. Therefore, the protection or safeguarding of Prof Kofi Abrefa Busia's place in history or in Ghana should be for all Ghanaians and not the people of his region of origin. I was in primary school in rural Ghana when Busia became Prime Minister so do not remember much about him as a child, except that by the time he was overthrown I was then living in Accra with my uncle at Switchback Road and do remember those days very well. Again, through education I became aware of his rural development policies that began the rural water and electricity supply as well as building rural health centres in Ghana.
Whether we like it or not, it's a fact that he led Ghana and made great contributions to Ghana's development and that is why it is importanat for Ghana not to forget his sacrifices and contributions.
It is sad for you to suggest that voters in Brong Ahafo made a mistake for voting for NDC. That is far from the truth because a considerable number of votes in the region went to other parties including the NPP. In fact, it would rather have been a mistake if every single vote in the region had gone to one party. Even in the regions that voted for NPP there were also reasonable number of voters which did not vote for NPP. That is what democracy is about. We should refrain from being judgemental and ascribing negative interpretations to the choices voters made just because their decisions were not in favour party or A or B. Let's leave that judgement for the voters themselves because in 4 years time they would have another opportunity to reassess their earlier decision and that is the only time we can know whether the earlier decisions were a mistake or not.
For Ghana, my message is that it is said, it's not worth dying for a nation that does not honour her heroes and heroines. Busia should be treated with respect and honour that he deserves. That should not be NDC/NPP matter or for Brongs to fight for.

However, in spite of your numerous articles, I'm yet to read against the tribal statements made by the likes of Kobby Acheampong, John Atta Mills, John Mahama, and recently by Haruna Iddrisu. Are they above reproach? I hope you would find time to write something against the comments made by the people I just mentioned as espoused in my article. You keep accusing the NDC of tribalism but time after time the NDC is looking more of a national representative party than the NPP. Have you ever wondered why? Its because of lousy loud mouths like you. There are tribalist in the NDC as well but they seemed to be a bit cautios than some of you in the NPP.
The NDC seemed to have gotten the idea that elections is about numbers irrespective of where it comes from. Some of you in the NPP are yet to realize this fact. Until then your pronouncements will continue to scare many minorities away from the NPP even though we realize the potential of the NPP.

Katakyie, let me correct the idea that I presume to be all those you ascribed to me. I am not neutral in party politics though I have never been a member of any registered political party at home or abroad. However, I try to be objective despite my political views. In other words, one can be party political and still be objective at the same time.
I try to avoid ethnic or tribal subject, especially in Ghana on Ghanweb not because I am sacred of raising ethnic tensions or lack knowledge in the area. In fact, race relations is one areas of my expertise having worked as head of Race Equality NGO in Britain. However, often the subject is discussed in Ghana and by Ghanaians through emotions and not with objectivity. I remember in one of my articles, I had compared the antagonistic relationship between NDC and NPP to the "tribal" politics between the Republicans and Democrats in the US. Some readers sadly interpreted that to mean tribalism. Others doubted if there is "tribal" politics in western democracy. My use of the words "tribal politics" were taken out of context. I simply meant a situation where groups (be it political parties or not)take entrenched positions on a subject that they strongly believe that their position is not only the right/best one but the only alternative. They refuse to reason with others that there could be another option and that is what I referred to as tribal politics. Even western writers, academics and political analysts use the term.
For the concern of being misunderstood or being accused of being homophobic, racist or something else, I try to avoid writing on ethnic issues on Ghanaweb. I do often comment on such matters on the Guardian and BBC websites during television discussion programmes such as "The Big Question"
In fact, I do not avoid the subject totally because I posted three articles when Kennedy Agyapong was arrested and charged for his comments on Ewes and Gas. However, I analysed the human rights implications and the International Law on such matters and not purely on ethnic or tribal specific implications. I remember being accused of supporting what he said just because I concluded that the evidence was simply not there to support the charges against him according to the Law. Others asked how much I was paid by NPP to write the articles.
Regarding the question of me posting articles on what Haruna and other NDC politicians say that are racist, I do not have to write articles to indicate my shock, disappointment and disapproval of what they said for the reasons I have already alluded to above. In fact, others including yourself and SARPONG have written better articles with information that I was not even aware and I agreed with most of what have been written, though I wish that some of the language had been measured but I do appreciate that emotion were probably high the writers were in front of their key boards.
Harauna had no right to ask the question when some residents of his own region are in conflict with themselves that regularly leads to loss of life and property. The question was despicable and had Ghana been a true democracy, he would have resigned or been sacked as a minister. Indeed, the question would still have been unacceptable even if Kennedy Agyapong was the minister designate.
On your suggestion that until I write to condemn Haruna and others you will not take me serious, I wish make it abundantly clear that I do not post articles to seek approval or otherwise from readers. I need not be taken serious or irrelevant by readers. I write articles to share my views, express my opinions and to exercise the enjoyment of freedom of expression. I also hope that the views expressed in my articles could contribute to developments in Ghana or perhaps influence other people's views as well as to open debate on issues of interest to readers. I have also taken writing as a hobby.
Not withstanding these objectives, I greatly appreciate that readers find time to read and leave comments on my articles. That gives me satisfaction, especially, the fact that most comments are positive.
