  The Ghanaian population should be educated enough to accept the idea that mental illnesses exist, and should seek treatment at the mental hospital when it strikes. Ghanaians should not blame the disease on other members of their family, like witches, wizards,and demons. I know of a Ghanaian lady who is on admission at the Yale Psychiatric Hospital whose husband is blaming members of the woman's family for her mental illness. He has kept this woman from seeking treatment, and they have resorted to fasting and prayers to the extent of sending money to some pastors to pray for them in Ghana.

  In the treatment of mental disorders a combination of approaches (biological, behavioural, cognitive, social and humanistic) will be the best. The spiritual approach may not be helpful when it comes to treating the cause and the symptom of the disorder.
  
  I agree that the mental hospitals should be uplifted to standard to meet the growing need. The government and the private sector should be up and doing.
