Those of you who wash plates abroad and do menial jobs can use stealers and the people around you will not even know that is is not a proper english word. It's said that you are the people around you. If you are surrounded by semi-illiterates and illiterates you use terms like stealers.

I checked from Merriam-Webster and your Stealer was not found. They had the word "steal" but not your stealers.

One thing that you guys are taking for granted is that even though society and language are dynamic and new words and terms are coined every now and then, most of these words belong to the street and not to a formal forum like parliament, a scientific or professional publications, formal reports, etc.

It could be that the NPP, having taken cognisance of the serious implications of using the word "thieves" to reference the NDC, decided to play it safe by using a street word (slang), "stealers". Stealers is safer and and would not attract any legal sanctioning or reprimand. I believe that was what the NPP did but there are brilliant and knowledgeable people in their ranks who would not write nor use the word stealers. But if the cards they were holding was prepared fro them by some of the semi-illiterates in their ranks or even by people like I.C. Quaye, then they will have no choice than to hold up the stealers cards, a Hobson's choice.
