Men in Army Uniform are also "normal" common Ghanaians, like all the corrupt "Polititians". They are in no way better, or honest.
The last so called 'strong' Military man, Jerry Rawlings, allowed people to be killed for owing their Banks some thousands of borrowed money.
Rawlings was just as 'poor' a young boy as any other when he used lawlsessness to arrive at the TOP. He left the scene with lots of missing State Assets unaccounted for. He himself, his wife, and his friends had become immensely rich.
We claim to be Christians, but we Steal, and intimidate when we find that opportune.
The uneducated respect only the Rich, and those in 'Powerful' Positions. That is our problem. It is really idiotic to seek solutions to our problems by looking for "STRONG MEN". When these strong men turn to skin us alive, we hope and cry for Stronger Men.
My suggestion is to help build a society of educated folks. Our Generation will be long dead and gone, but the educated folks cannot be fooled by "STRONG" dishonest, unpatriotic Robbers

Osie Tutu, to be honest, I did not read all the article but it is sad that there are Ghanaian youth who contemplate a military coup d'etat in Ghana in this day and age. You seem to be encouraging the men and women of the Ghana Armed Forces to take political power by the barrel of the gun and that saddens me.
Do you equate "men" with using the gun to gain power? Such people are not men but cowards. The days of military interventions are gone and gone forever. I do not know on which planet you are but you must come down to planet earth and be real. No amount of mismanagement by elected politicians should justify military intervention in Ghana. Yes, I worked in a military dictatorship but I will not welcome such governments again in Ghana.
I do not know how young you are and those you claimed to have met who are of the same opinion as you but I am afraid to say that, you and your cohorts are misguided and are wasting your youthful exuberance. Find something useful and better to engage you brain and stop fantasizing about military coups in Ghana. If you are a man, why don't you join the military and take arms to overthrow the politicians yourself?

I believe OSEI TUTU is not wasting his youth but pouring out his frustration about the pain some of our elected leaders are visiting on their compatriots only for their personal aggrandizement ending up in running down the country. It is better for bullies to run the state than living in a failed state where nothing works.
If I may ask: what has sent you to U.K.? It is he who wears the shoe that knows how the nail is hurting his foot. Do not therefore insult Osei Tutu for, there are millions of Osei Tutus presently in Ghana. Do not be under the illusion that a Coup can't happen but rather work on our corrupt leaders wherever they are found whether in politics, army or public service.

Besides the sexist nature of these statements, which I hoped to rob in deeper by adding the "balls", suffice it to say that a modern civilised man or woman lives by the law, and if they feel aggrieved, they use the law to seek redress. I am convinced that any coup in Ghana today, while it could hang on for a while, will be an ultimate failure.

If all Ghanaian politicians are corrupt, what makes you think the soldiers would be better? The coup wouldn't be the solution, although I understand you are suggesting that out of frustration. I see corruption everywhere and Ghanaians are encouraging it -- from the tro tro driver who is driving without licence or insurance to the messenger who cannot find your file in the ministry until you grease his palm and the petrol station attendant who is pumping air in your car so that he can shave off some of your payment to have money to keep his girlfriend happy. And, by the way, the girlfriend who is keeping multiple boyfriends to get more money. Is it only the politician to blame? The Ghanaian churches are full of angels on Sundays but they turn devils on the streets from Monday to Saturday. Even Prince Osei Tutu is hiding skeletons in the cupboard and throwing stones at others. I don't support corruption in any way. However, I see that it is something everyone detests, especially if they don't have the opportunity to receive the bribes, but once they have the opportunity they sing their own hallelujahs. God save us!

A military man is not a stooge and reckless person. I did not enlist in the Ghana Army in 1884 because of the political situation then existing in the country. Having had at least six months military training elsewhere after graduation form the university I realized that the military need not a reckless and irrational commanders, but people with the psych to disarm the enemy without taking a single shot.
Being a communist I saw that I can only fit into Kwame Nkrumah's post independence military, but not the those stooges of imperialism.
During my military training there was this incident that let me realize that I would have been a good military officer had it not been that I was strongly against a military junta which was working for the imperialist in Ghana then.
I was sick and was being taken to the hospital when some Negro Cubans alleged that the Cuban Red Indian corporal want to run over them with the vehicle. I psychologically disarmed by brother Cuban Negroes that they should not be annoyed over a fullish Red Indian trying to run over them, but one of their own who is dying and is being taken to the hospital by the Indian. Under that point I was the officer-in-charge not commissioned, but know that I am of a rank higher than the corporal.
The military man is to defend the territorial integrity and security of his country and not be a doll of a foreign power. I did not want to protect the interest of foreign monopolies and that was one of the reasons I did not join a military that is up to date in place to seek and protect foreign interest.
I however support coups against military juntas. I happen to intrude into the plots that overthrew and killed both Thomas Sankara and Strasser. By the rules of the game I stayed put, having know that something was about to happen until those coup were over.
No citizen must work for foreign interest against that of his country as Kotoka and Afrifa did. The coups of 1966, 1979 and 1981 did harm to the socioeconomic development of this country.
I was against the 1979 and 1981 coups, the latter came to institutionalize Acheampongs union government that the politicians who supported that coup were against. I was supposed to be arrested and imprisoned in 1983 when I returned from my studies however it did not happened.

Can he tell me what happened to the engines of the DC 10 bought by the Ghana Airways which some of their NPP gurus sold to Kenya Airways and pockedt the money? Can he tell Ghanaians how come that Ghan Airways collapsed? What did the NPP administration do when Lufthansa wanted to acquire it as well as KLM? Even debt owed to Ghana Airways which was paid by its debtors was that not the money Ananie used to travel to arrange for this bogus Ghana international airlines which only brought debts. Please, the time for coups are over. I know for you UP-NPP off-springs all you do is to seek foreign intervention to overthrow governments when you cannot ascend to power genuinly just like your grandfather J.B Danquah did by conniving with the CIA to overthrow Nkrumah. It is a big mistake to think that, military dictatorship is the answer to the ills of democratic governance being practiced in Ghana.
Human beings everywhere are imperfect and are proned to unlawful acts to satisfy their selfish interests. This is why there are laws to guide us all. The law thus becomes the standard by which every person is judged. An act can only be wrongful when the law says so with a neutral judge to pronounce the punishment according to the law.
By calling for military dictatorship, you are calling for someone who will not allow himself and his close associates to be subject to the law but at same time he is the one to dertermine what is wrongful. This is worse than the ills of democratic governance where any accused person has the right to defend himself.

You stink like a hyena; you are what Americans would refer to as a real "muthafucker". Have a nice day.
We have something stronger than the men in the arm forces. It is called the rule of law. What an idiot.
The rule of which law?
Men in Army Uniform are also "normal" common Ghanaians, like all the corrupt "Polititians". They are in no way better, or honest.
