This is because what did kwame and his ministers do immediately after Independence?

When the British were ruling Ghana, they were given huge allowances and salaries to compensate and lure them to stay and live in the GoldCoast. We should not lose sight of the fact that, Mr. Mosquito, was very strong at that time,with malaria the common lethal disease.

When Kwame appointed his ministers and they took over these portfolios, they did not think of Ghana, they took over these positions with all the huge salaries and allowances that were paid to these expatriates, and also coupled with the fact that, most of these ministers were not well educated, 'The Veranda Boys'.

These was the beginning of the Economic plunders. Thievery was inculcated in Ghanaians not by The NPP , but by The CPP.

The CPP set the bad precedence under the pretext an pretense of Socialism.

The issue is, if Ghana would allow the NPP to lead the country for the next 20 years, Ghanaians would see where we would be.

I am not holding brief for The NPP, but I see that 'The Salvation' of Ghana is in the hands of The NPP and Ghana is where she is now,because the 'devil' is preventing the Savior to die, so that our sins would be forgiven.

The NPP from the word go, was for the Western type democracy, Kwame and the CPP were for the Eastern type.

Now where are we? 'Going back to battan'?

The United GoldCoast Convention,(UGCC) led by Mr. JB Daquah, Ako Adjei and Hon Obestebi Lamptey, just to mention a few, started the agitations for Independence when Kwame was in the United States of America in the Pan African Movement.

The UGCC wanted independence but in a different manner, gradually, intelligently, systematically, with all the knowledge and experience acquired from the Colonial masters- with the slogan, Independence within The Shortest Possible Time.

Not the 'rush and haste', the 'dash and dart', the 'jump and leap' manner adopted by Kwame.. with his motto, Independence Now!

This is where we are! This is where 'Independence Now' has brought us to!

If Ghana has adopted a mixed type of government or the Presidential System, as pertains in The United States Of America, then Ghana should follow suit and adopt The Federal System of Government, because the system works better with 'The Executive President'.

My question is, why should Ghana, a Unitary State, change over from The Cabinet System to The Presidential?

Is it the advantages that would accrue from the tripartite form of 'checks and balances'? or

The freedom for the President to choose his Cabinet Ministers , not strictly, from the Members Of Parliament as pertains under the Cabinet System?

Now the question is :

Have the drafters of the Constitution and better still, Ghanaians in general, ever sat down to evaluate the advantages and dis-advantages of this adopted 'Presidential System' vis-a vis the former 'Cabinet system', under the leadership of a Prime-Minister, who is also a member of Parliament,representing a Constituency?

What are the gains to Ghana?

If America is rich and Presidential, does it mean that Ghana follows blindly?

Are Ghanaians so gullible that we take any 'pill' that is pushed down our throats?

It is not the system, per say, that brings efficiency and growth but rather it is the people who operates the system.

I interviewed a cross section of people from 2004-2006 also for my Phd dissertation. I know Ghana perhaps more than you do. I have worked in America and owned my own business, and trust me there is nothing Ghanaians cannot do if they have good leadership, guidance, discipline and some financing to produce. THANK YOU! It is tough, but there is hope if we all educate the youth and guide them to resist the current oppressive and corrupt environment.

This President and his pre-decessor failed to inspire the people to do anything for themselves. I have read his last state of the nation address, the first state of the nation address, the address during the independence day on March 6 and they contain nothing to help cause a change in people's lives.
He is corrupt, an turned on the revenue tap on his firm rLG while telling us to tighten our belts.
The entire country is living on bonds, and a bond is a loan. He has stated in his own book that one thing he finds difficult to do is to take decisions. Dr. Kwaku Danso, the only way is for the lazy man to be removed from office.

We need an engineer to lead this country to the promise land.
