The fact is,both Nana Addo and John Mahama are not the kind of leaders Ghana needs at this time in our nation's development journey,There is too much negativity and incompetence in their dealings and his is reflecting on the general attitude of the citizenry.Too bad both major parties failed to present credible flag-bearers but then,Ghana as a nation do not have the wisdom to select the right people at the right time.

"Will Akufo-Addo’s fate be like Enoch Powell’s – a brilliant man who was not understood by his generation and who is, today, regarded negatively in British politics?"
Mr. A:
I am really not sure why you have decided to "romanticize" Akuffo Addo's "all-die-be die" speech today.... It must be freedom of speech and expression or something perhaps?hahaha!
I know, I know, you are trying to "build a bridge over troubled waters" for THE Doyen of modern democratic movements?huum... It is quite difficult, isn't it?
Well, I have to say that A-A will be forever known for that speech-WHY? After he officially adopted it, if not having coined it, T-shirts were printed and it became the "war song" of the NPP being led by the likes of Sir John and Ursula Owusu- if you catch my drift, as we say in these United States"...
Akuffo- Addo made it his campaign mantra, chanting it anytime he got the opportunity- so why we reasonable minds think that he did not mean it to have a negative impact? Then why was the speech used to fuel his overzealous youths at Obra-Spot, and other spots shortly after the elections? Shall reasonable minds ignore the repetitive way in which this mantra was used over and over again, that even a 2 year old was said to chant Akufo-Addo's name when he heard that saying?
Also, we must not forget- it is the totality of acts that have created this albatross of image around Akufo-Addo's neck- it is the "Ye Akanfuo speech"; it was his deafening silence when K. Agyepong went chanting for Ewes and Gas to be clubbed in Kumasi by Asantes and Akans; it is his fueling of youths after the election results were announced and how he apparently addressed supporters in French, leading me to conclude that he may have been giving "secret" codes to his Akan counterparts in Ivory Coast as well, certainly not his Ghanaian Akans right? Ghana is surrounded by French speaking countries but the Ghanaian populace as a whole is USELESS in French, so who was AA addressing in French, in his infamous Obra spot speech?
Please Kindly, I am well aware that Akuff-Addo has a legacy and has been a champion of many causes to be a part of the opposition which pressured Rawlings towards multi-party rule- We are all grateful to those who fought in the hot sun while some of us were tucked far away.....
However, if Akuffo Addo is not careful, especially with all the heated political rhetoric in the country and fierce resistance of his party to follow the rule of law in the country, if Ghana should experience anymore instability above where it is now, especially if the SC decision do not go his way, and refuses to concede, posterity will NOT smile on Akufo Addo, and heaven will surely NOT welcome him, when he goes!
BTW, I was very disappointed about the Oxford brouhaha, and still even more disappointed about Kpegah's latest suit against Nana Addo- for me no one should ever descend into such vindictiveness to take another down- after all, " Every sinner has a future, and ever Saint has a past, so let the Church say Amen" is the popular African American denoting, "He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone"...AMEN!

Mr Kofi Amennyo, this is very brilliant and I just had a discussion with one of my friend's just after the elections about the exact issue you raised. I said Nana Akufo Addo doesn't have good advisers because if he had had one he/she would have asked him to withdraw that "All Die Be Die" statement and also apologize to Ghanaians just like you mentioned.
He would have also condemned the statement by one of their MP's who said the Ashantis should kill the Ewes and Ga something like that. The NPP or any other political party needs to come to you for consultation.

I disagree with your comment. Nana said nothing that meant violence by any means. He was just reiterating that his followers had been bullied many times during elections and warned that they would fight back this time in the face of any agression from the NDC hooligans. Let me remind you that Nana is selfless, honest and peaceful in all his undertakings. He is going to win the court case and use the presidential power to give free high school eduction to all Ghanaians. We need a leader who openly proclaims that he is not corrupt and that is Nana. Nana is the only leader who would be able to deal with the corruption which is like canker eating the fabric of the society.

WHY APOLOGIZE:
"The question now is if he should have apologized to the people of Ghana, humbly expressed his regrets and formally withdrawn the statement. Such an act may not have any effects on his die-hard opponents who would not have been moved even if he had poured ashes on his head and walked around barefoot in sack cloth for seven days. But for a section of the floating voters, and even his own party members, it would have cast him in a more favourable light. They may have seen him as a man (and a Ghanaian politician as such) who is ready to admit his faults. This would have made him as human as those who were going to vote for him. Besides, he would have proven to Ghanaians that he is not the arrogant person rumours say he is. And if the opposition raised the issue, his supporters could have responded: Yes, but he has apologized and withdrawn the statement. Is it not human to err and is not forgiveness divine?"

His enemies in the NDC saw how formidable an opponent he is and they decided to win the election not on their own merit but on how much mud they would be able to throw at him and cast him in the mould of a scarecrow. The NDC propagandists and every ghanaian who heard him make the "all die be die" statement understood perfectly what Akuffo Addo meant so what's the basis for the apology? The man who needs to apologize profusely to ghanaians, cover himself with ashes and be gnawed by an unrelenting remorsefulness is John Jeremiah Rawlings. He inflicted hard to heal wounds in the hearts and souls of numerous ghanaians, brought untold hardships on all ghanaians and caused the murder of citizens whose numbers are not yet quantified and will forever remain unknown.
The article by Amenyo is not entirely negative. At least he's chosen to come out of their closet to acknowlede they had a clear understanding of what Nana Akuffo Addo said but deliberately twisted and distorted it just to discredit him .They achieved their evil purpose but still had to rig the election to win. They need to apologize to Nana Akuffo Addo and all ghanaians if they have a pure heart and want to clear their filthy conscience or remain silent to be tormented spiritually and emotionally for the rest of their lives.

What I am concerned with is that you have put me in a closet - one in which the opponents of Akufo-Addo belong. And the only reason I can see for your putting me there is the colour of my name. I don't think my article is one that is against Akufo-Addo or one that can only be written by an opponent of the man. Why should I be haunted by a guilty conscience because of my tribe?
Oh no, I don't think you bear me any grudges. Neither do I you. But I do think you have been prejudicial when you put me in a certain group/closet. That is the only aspect of your comment I react to. I don't even think you and I have irreconcilable differences in opinions when it comes to the subject matter of the piece.
