  The call on northerners by Osumanu Guarantee on northerners to fight the Islamic course creates the impression that northerners are Muslims. This is a wrong impression. Infact most Muslims in Ghana are of foreign origin. They include Hausas and Yorubas from Nigeria; Kotokoris, Basaris and Grumas from Togo; Mosis and Buzangas from Burkina Faso; Zambramas from Niger; Gaos from Mali and the all roaming Fulanis. There are, however, indigenous Muslims who are predominantly Walas and Dagombas. In fact the Dagombas are the largest Muslim group in Ghana constituting 3.5% of National population. Right in their backyard are the Konkombas who can be said to be the largest group of Christians in the north. They also constitute 3.2% of national population followed by the Kasenas, Frafras and Dargatis who are all Christians. The problem is that most muslims in the north settle in towns whiles majority of the Christians settle in the interiors and villages. That explains why a first timer to places like Gushiegu, Tatale, Saboba, Bimbila, etc may think those places are Muslim communities but the reality on the ground is that their Members of Parliament are all Christians. The whole world should now know that every northerner is not necessarily a Muslim. Those Kayayes we see around us are mostly from Muslim communities in the north. Hardly do you see Konkombas, Kasenas, Dagartis plying that trade. The reason is that the Muslims are materialistic and full of empty pride and that explains why they spend $3100.00 to Mecca every year and then turn around to tell the government there is poverty in the Zongos.

  I have read this article and that of osumanu guarantee. One point that I realised missing is this the government of saudi arabia who plays host to muslims all over the world during the hajj and lesser haj periods have made it clear in no uncertain terms that they will only deal with central governments to coordinate the pilgrimage this is why government play that facilitating role. Most Pilgrims cough their own money for the journey. I have been informed and rightly believe same that the government of saudi arabia makes available some complimentary seats and this is rightly shared to some deserved muslims. I must however state that I do not in anyway condone what osumanu guarantee did. I am an ardent reader of ahoofes articles and I believe he should have done some extra research on the whole hajj affair that would ave save him from responding and giving prominence to people like osumanu guarantee.
