In fact we thought the SC was better but it looks like the lower courts get the delay delay delay mentality from the highest court of the land. Where is the CJ? Is she spineless to crack the whip?

This delay is not good for Mahama and not good for Nana. A lot of developmental and foreign investments are on hold waiting for he outcome of this case. In essence the SC is holding Ghana as a hostage.

You also raised a very important matter regarding the presidential petition which is not receiving much attention in Ghana. That is, should Nana Akufo Addo win the petition, could he serve a full four year term or only the unexpired term of the four years (from January 7, 2013)? I read in the Graphic that at a seminar in Accra, senior NPP members were of the view that he would serve a full four year term from the date of his swearing in but non-NPP members disagreed. I am not sure what the Constitution says on this but whatever happens, the same SC may have to give directions on that if the constitution is silent.

I also find it difficult to understand how your family tragedy and the inability of the bereaved families to agree on a suitable burial and funeral date to all parties is part of the lawlessness in Ghana. The fact that one section of the family were smart enough to outwit the other is no fault of the judiciary. That smartness even happens in the developed world and often governments also use the same to outwit their opponents.

Why are you blaming the court? You are bucking the wrong horse. You cannot compare what happened in the US with the issue in Ghana. The US issue dealt with only ONE State, Florida. We are dealing with the whole country of Ghana and not 300 but over 3 million votes. And, more importantly, the SC is going by the rules. Individuals are given 21 days to go to court to challenge the election results. The SC canot force anybody to come to court before the 21 days are out. And the NPP waited until the last minute to put in their challenge. Then wasted more time challenging the composition of the SC panel. So how on earth could you blame the SC? The example of the funeral is way off base.

I don't intend to hold brief for the ruling government, Akuffo Addo nor the Supreme Court, who are the main elements that you mentioned in your piece. One thing is clear, that you have been biased, due to the fact that you tune towards Akuffo Addo. That aside, you sound very childish in your writing, and you have not proved to be a matured writer at all. There is one thing, that I want to make it clear to you. The objective truth really hurts, but it solves the problem. There is no way that, the Supreme Court, will ever hurry and order to step down Mahamah and ask Akuffo Addo to ascend the throne, because if all die be die, then all win must be win too. There are only three possible things at stake that the Supreme Court can do. The Supreme court is neither a trial court not a king-maker. They are going to study the case itself, study evidence available, debate on them and then the judges will vote as individuals, before their opinions, shall be collated. They may order a re-election, which I don't find very feasible at this time. They may also order a re-count, but the chances are very minimal, and then, may request the Electoral Commission (not Afari Gyan), to rectify or remedy the irregularities and other deficiencies associated with elections in Ghana. Any Ghanaian, who is alive today,is dreaming or praying and hoping that,God-willing, Mahamah will soon be stepped down, is in-fact, living in a fools paradise. Nana Akuffo Addo, by his personal demeanor, is not born to be the President of the Republic of Ghana, so forget. Whether it takes a pile of evidence to establish a case or not, or twenty four, or one year to do so, it sums up to the meaning of the culture that we Ghanaians as a people have cultivated over the years. There have been rejoinders, and even the Petitioners themselves, had to adjust and re-write their Petition, and certain secondary issues. You may have an idea of presenting a good case, but I must be specific that your article is full of flaws, and therefore needed to be withdrawn. Thank you!

Why won't you embrace the objective reality, and widen the net of accommodation of others into the party, by spreading your wings. The NDC increased its seats in the Ashanti Region. You made a great noise about the Volta region and yet won nothing there. You also won nothing at all in the Upper West Region, and you don't even make amends to question why? The Petitioners themselves keep amending their petition, and compounding problems for themselves. As it is now, it is not a matter of piling up any evidence, but the maturity of the court is being tested in this landmark case. Why won't you leave the Court alone to do its job and come out with their verdict. Just prepare the innermost part of your spine for the most chilling news, as soon as the Court tells you something. Despite the delay tactics embroiled in the decision of the court, the eventual outcome is all the more quite obvious. Nana Addo will be installed the president whilst Mahama steps down. Bear in mind that the whole world is watching. Take this from me, have a look at the face of Mahama when he appears in public. He is a mere shadow of himself. He looks defeatist and dejected. It is also quite wrong on your part to request P-M to withdraw his article from this forum. You are one of the selfish Akans. Having said that, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that Ghana as a contry is not waiting or holding its breath for a Supreme Court decision in relation to Akufo Addo's case. Only a section of NPP activists does. Ghanaians are busy trying to eke out a living and only few of them are following the Supreme Court case. In fact, NPP is losing its legitimacy as a political party because of this case. Anyway, why has Akufo Addo who believes in the Courts of Ghana not responded to Justice Kpegah's claims?

I must say that I personally believe that there is a general view that the election was fair and even if it wasn’t, it is too late to change anything now. I think Nana Akufo Addo’s going to court is a last resort for reaction for someone who thinks he should be president and has realized that he will never be unless the courts make him a president. I said “if” in the article, but that does not mean that the courts will necessarily rule for him.
Second point: It was an after-thought that I added the “led by the Supreme Court” to the title of the article to grab attention. I believe though that with the lawless environment that we have in Ghana, there is no room for our Supreme Court to take its own sweet time, and yes, I believe it adds to the lawlessness.
If you don’t believe there is lawlessness, wait until you buy a land and you find out that it has been sold to ten people already or you start building a house and people show up at random saying they represent some chieftaincy and you must pay some amount or they won’t let you build your home; you pay the money only to have another group show up with the same claim: and we have a government.
Lastly, when I write my opinion, I understand that I put myself out there for anyone to take a swipe at. I enjoy the positive comments very much; the negative ones, not so much but I take it on the chin just the same. I am glad we have the forum to express our opinions. Thanks to everyone who writes a comment. I make sure I read them all even if I don’t respond to each comment.

You can choose to root for anybody you want in this meaningless petition;but don`t play both ends against the center! I don`t blame you,because I bought into the NPP propaganda until they conceded that the much-trumpheted "slealing" allegations were bombarded with occured on both sides. And that, it was going to take more than 'simple arithmetic' to resolve a dispute involving the annulment of close to 5 million votes,approximately 50% of the total tally! In the meantime,which side is behind the 'Let My Vote Count Alliance' and advocating mayhem?

Look,nobody who is familiar with the situation on the ground in Ghana will give you an argument pertaining to the level of "lawlessness" in the country.
I saw uniformed police officers(a corporal to be precise) riding an unlicensed motorbike in the vicinity of a police station. Even though a helmet was tied to the backseat,the rider, was not wearing one!
I had a hell of a time trying to get the owner/operator of a tractor trailer to move his truck away from a busy residential street in front of my family house. And this was after he had illegally parked there for more than 48 hours!

In Kenya -- a country that became independent about 6 years after Ghana had got its own independence -- the Supreme Court is focusing on the election petition and will finish the case by the end of this week. Why can't our SC also focus on the case and finish it quickly? The Kenya ejection took place only at the Beginning of March! Ours took place THREE MONTHS BEFORE THAT OF KENYA. ISN'T A SHAME THAT THEY SHOULD GET A DECISION BEFORE WE GET OURS?

The fact that the Constitution gave 21 days for the petition to be filed was supposed to ensure that with 21 days to prepare, the plaintiffs and the defence would come fully prepared and have the matter settled quickly. Yet look at what is happening!

The Supreme Court may indeed give a sublime decision., But of what use will it be if by the time the decision is given, there is no country called Ghana? Look at the tribalists already at work, in the form of an idiot called Kpegah. Do the Supreme Court members not know what such a character can do to cause confusion and incite hatred?

Oh, I am so disappointed. In the US, the SC places the stability of the nation above everything else. In Ghana, the SC only knows how to dress and sweat. If they continue like this, their privileges -- retiring on their salary in particular -- will come under scrutiny. If they don't care about the nation, why should the nation care about them? Imagine calling the parties to the case and asking them to put their heads together to agree on the issues to be dealt with. If they could do that, why would they have gone to court? It is for the court to sit and judge. So let it sit and judge.
