  I rejoiced when at long last I learnt that somebody has been bold enough to tell govt that enough is enough and that time has come for the state to stop sponsoring Muslims for hajj. Ghanaians are cowards! We are afraid to tell it as it is as the Presbyterian Moderator has done. I dove my hat to him for his boldness and if all the other church leaders were to emulate his example, Ghana would have been a better place for all of us. What else should Ghanaians expect from these Muslims who are bashing the Moderator? They cannot throw dust into our eyes because it is a fact that the govt spends some amount every year, for political expediency to sponsor hajj. I challenge govt to come out and deny! Now we are being told that wealthy Muslims freely pay for those who cannot afford to embark upon the trip. Yet day in day out we are told poverty is endemic among our Muslim fraternity and therefore they should be allowed to enjoy free education , free this, free that and now SADA which from all indication is going to be another fiasco! Multiply about 5000 USD per person by the quota of 5000 allotted to Ghana by the Saudi govt. You get 25 million USD spent each year on hajj, a whooping capital flight frm the country and yet we claim we are poor! Pilgrimage to Mecca is not a must for every Muslim and I wonder why so much money will be used for this purpose Rather than to channelling their resources for development projects in the three northern regions of Ghana? What a pity! Time has come for the govt. to wash its hands completely, be it facilitating role or spending our hard earned tax payers' money to provide luxurious accommodation at the hajj village for these pilgrims. Enough is enough and I say kudos to Rev. Prof. Martel for being bold to set the ball rolling on this thorny issue which nobody for all these years has got the courage to say. May God be with Rev. Marty to continue to say it as it is. Long live Ghana!
