  Rev., focusing only on Ananse of Ayiyi (Ewe) clearly shows that you aren't aware, or has suppressed the fact that not all Africans use the spider in such folk tales. The Yorubas, for instance, use the tortoise, playing the same roles as the spider amongst Ghanaians. So the Brer Rabbit stories also derived from tortoise stories from among Yoruba slaves. This was clearly specified on the Brer Rabbit series.
  
  BTW, thanks to a Peace Corper. Mr Gmuir, I probably read all the Brer Rabbit series, the only one in my class of 1975 to have done done so! And that was a lot of reading! Mr Gmuir stocked our library to one of our best in the whole country in the 1970s! Our Headmaster used to say so but we didn't believe him until some of us had the opp. to visit other schools' libraries on excursion and 6th Form.
  
  Hmm! How one of my twin cousins, Hub, (both mates and both deceased), found my reading mania amusing and used to bet classmates to pick any of the books in that section and I'd had subscribed to it? Of course, he always won, amidst laughter and amusement.
