(SOURCE) JOY ONLINE:------------------------------The National Democratic Congress has more than doubled Ghana’s debt in four years but it has very little or nothing to show for it, New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Obuasi, Kweku Kwarteng, has said.

According to him, after government increased Ghana’s debt from $8 billion dollars in 2009 to $17 billion in 2012; after enjoying oil proceeds, the first government in Ghana’s history, after enjoying windfalls in cocoa prices and gold prices the only evidence NDC has to show for these huge inflows are power cuts, water crisis, gas shortages and unemployment.

The Obuasi MP said his constituents have for over ten months not had water flow through their taps and there has not been any official explanation for it.

He said the whole country has been plunged into darkness with government sources and spokespersons providing contradictory dates as to when the power cuts will come to an end.

He made these assertions on MultiTV and Joy FM’s news analysis programme Newsfile on Saturday.

What is worse, Kweku Kwarteng added, the country is operating a huge budget deficit of $8.7 billion up from $6.6 billion in 2008 but with nothing to show for the expenditure.

He said whilst the citizenry are suffering, government and other state institutions are blowing the country’s money through unnecessary overspending.

According to him, the presidency alone over spent over GHC600 million without consulting Parliament.

Kweku Kwarteng also accused the government of completely running down the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) with the view to privatising it and has failed to account for the TOR recovery levy which was imposed by the NPP to offset the TOR debt incurred as a result of subsidy on fuel prices.

All these old crop of politicians got to go including Rawlings, Akofo Addo, k4 and his sons and all the MPs who were corrupted got to face the fire. May be close to 500, to send a massage that next time around, who ever that dares it needs to be jailed. As of now we can't jail wrong doers no matter their crimes so if there's a coup, damn it , let all these crooks face the fire.
God won't choose any one for us if we can not go by rule of law and jail wrong doers without fear or favor.

Since this ex gratia came out, both parties are in solidarity with each other, none sees anything wrong with such huge sum of money. Which organization is more thieving than the military when in power?Ghana's development has been greatly retarded by military intervention in politics. If the military cannot do what they are trained to do that is defend the state of Ghana from external aggressors then they should be demobilized or at the very least stay in their barracks. Those Ghanaians old enough to remember the utterly disastrous 20 years of Rawlings mismanagement and incompetence will never ever allow our soldiers to run amok arbitrarily beating up, torturing and killing the very people they are supposed to be protecting.The criminality, gross human Rights abuses that characterized Rawlings reign of terror will never again be countenanced by all thinking Ghanaians.
