Anyone who knows the area will understand that the high potential of Tamale has been jeopardised over the years by low education, unemployment and unnecessarily protracted conflicts. Just a small respite from conflicts and see the difference already. Tamale has always been strategic in West Africa and will will reassert its role given the chance, as is already happening.Let the uneducated literate litigants give Tamale, Dagbon and Ghana breathing space!Let the youth refuse to be misled by these misguided elite.

Well, much as I support your analysis of using socio-economic activities to conclude that Tamale is fast growing, it can't be first, even the 'Tamalians' would be the first to tell you. The fastest growing city is Sekondi-Tarkoradi because of discoverage of oil in this city. There have been many investments and many people migrating to this area for jobs from petty-shops to big companies.

Does it matter which city is the fastest growing connubation, what is needed is social amenities like proper sanitation, security and general economic well being for all. People in Sekondi Tadi and Tamale need regular water electricity supply. Never mind which one of them is the fastest growing city.

Tamale is indeed making progress but the attitude of the people must change. Once the stop the unnecessary violence, obey the city bye-laws and work hard for the city, then the city could be the johannesburg of of Ghana. The location of the city is very strategic. That is probably why investors are trooping in there. Tamale has very little natural resources and so government could do more in order to make it the financial services centre of the sahelian. The Tamale International Airport is therefore long over due. You guys continue to promote your city. I fell in love with it the very day I arrived in Tamale. I have since brought my family to live with me. As for the distance from Tamale to Accra, the airplanes have made it look like Circle to Legon. My Tamale experience is a beautiful and lovely one. Come and discover your.

This is a good write up. Keep projectung our cities in this manner. Do not mind the negative comments. Those people seem not to know what they are talking about.

Any way, those who think there is always war in the place are mixing things. Yendi is different from Tamale. In fact its so many miles away from Tamale. Places like Sevelugu, Kumbumgu etc have all joined Tamale. We have to go back and build our belovered northern towns that existed long before Kumasi, Accra etc

I am happy to read the way you wrote about the infrastructural development of Tamale, as I am a native of the city, however, is it not a dangerous threat to have a city with such pace of development be rife with illegal foreigners who have dominated the interior of the central market of this commercial city of ours? Recently a law was announced on TV. that foreigners will soon be made to leave the interior of Ghanaian markets and take places outside of the markets and our fears are that this law of vital importance may be made to apply to Tamale as well, if that happens, it would be very painful, for if these foreigners are allowed to continue dominating our market places the in a few years future natives of this fast growing city may not have anywhere to venture into business. Lets us not take this issue lightly.
