The Domestic Violence and Victims’ Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service in the Central Region is investigating a case in which a 22-year-old man impregnated his 19-year-old sister at Abura Abaka in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District.

After the sister had delivered, Ebenezer Aidoo is alleged to have threatened to beat his mother to death if she does not allow him to marry his sister as originally agreed.

Ebenezer told Joy FM’s Central Regional correspondent, Richard Kojo Nyarko that his mother collected GH¢40 from him for impregnating his sister out of wedlock and agreed to the relationship, therefore, he did not understand why she was now preventing them from getting married.

His sister, amid tears, added that she informed her mother when Ebenezer proposed love to her and she (the mother) asked her to agree.

Ebenezer said he would refer to the child as his nephew, even though he is his biological son.

Meanwhile, Ebenezer, his mother, and his sister (Ama Esumanba) have all been charged with incest and are currently in police custody.

71-year-old remanded for raping grand daughter

Juaso (Ash), Feb. 24, GNA - The Juaso Circuit Court has remanded a 71 year-old farmer into prison custody for allegedly raping his 17 year-old grand daughter at Konongo.

Peter Kwaku Poku, whose plea was not taken, was initially charged with canal knowledge of the victim when he first appeared before the court, and had since been remanded on several occasions in connection with the case.

However, when he appeared in court on Monday, an advice from the Attorney General's Department preferred a charge of rape against him and will therefore re-appear before the court on March 9. Police Chief Inspector Stephen Opare, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Justice Jacob Boon, sitting as an additional circuit court judge that the victim was the grand daughter of the accused and they both lived in the same vicinity.

He said on February 17, last year Poku was in his room watching television when the victim entered to join him. Moments later, Poku dragged the victim onto his bed and forcibly had sex with her after which he cautioned her to remain silent. The victim however, informed her mother who took her to the police station where a medical form was issued for the victim to attend hospital.

The form was later returned to the police duly endorsed, and the police arrested the accused.Source:

2. Where did he get the 4 million pounds to buy a mansion in London? He took the people's money to buy the mansion while many Ashantis live in shanty towns and slums. Man,get real! Chieftaincy has been a curse on the continent,and it is incompatible with modern democracy. Moreover,it has created ethnic divisions and tribal wars in almost all countries in Africa - with devastating consequences for their societies.

This parasitic and antiquated institution was propped up especially by the British - in their indirect rule in Africa - with the so-called chiefs serving as their surrogates.

Now,who are the chiefs in Ghana and in other parts of Africa? These folks are the descendants of tribal militia leaders who murdered and captured defenseless men,women and children in villages and towns - from Northern Ghana to the coastal areas - to be sold as slaves in North and South America.And it is estimated that fifteen to twenty million Africans from West Africa alone,died on the way to the Americas.

So today,we have put these progenies of barbarians and murderers on a pedestal and worship them as demi-gods - calling them Nana oooh!,Nana oooh! - from north to south. Pleeeze!

Meanwhile,these chiefs sell our lands,collect royalties and bribes and pay no taxes.Most sit on their rear-ends and do nothing except siring children and enjoying their polygamous lifestyle.

Chieftaincy is antiquated in the 21st Century.It is antithetical to meritocracy and it retrogresses societies,even as they try to modernize.It's no wonder that so many countries in Europe and Asia have opted to abolish their monarchies or royalties (eg,Greece,China,India and Nepal) - while in Africa,Ethiopia stands alone in abolishing the monarchy in the last three decades.

Ghana does not have to wait for a Kamel Ataturk (Turkey)or Mengistu(Ethiopia)to abolish chieftaincy. Let's hold a referandum on it.

Asantehene is not capable of leading Ghana's chieftaincy commission and or its members anywhere but to the classic thievery at all cost that ails Ghana rich and powerful.
Asantehene does own a house in the UK and in South Africa where by any measure he pays annual property taxes to the governments of the respective nations. We all know the Asantehene does not pay taxes on anything Ghana because he is Royal and is served by his subjects. Asantehene has been making money from the natural and mineral riches in the Ashanti region and yet there are major infrastructural issues in Kumasi (if not all of the region) from passable roads, community toilet facilities and above all residents who are under constant threat from criminal activities. When a national government has failed as we know is and has been the case in Ghana for years, it does require people with brains and the desire to alleviate the suffering of their people to spend some of the free money going into his piggy bank to put them into use in Kumasi at the very least.
I guarantee Okoamap-Ahoofe that the taxes paid each year to UK on the mansion owned by Asantehene would be enough to build public restrooms in at least two sections of Kumasi each year. This is what leadership is about; caring about your subjects and not keeping up with the Jones'.
