  Thank you for asking such a great question. It is very painful that, in one`s country such indecent attitude is all over. Even on the strees of Ghana, itwill surprise you that, asking someone for direction, your answer will be insult. Now that we are in democracy, politicians have taken that attitude for granted and tranlated it into politics instead of taking advantage of great opportunity of democracy to educate Ghanaians about that.
  However, looking at it deeply, I am sorry to say this. In some Ghanaiantribes, if not you insult people of not your tribe, they feel you did not show a sense of patrotism for your people or your tribe. Take for-instance like Akans, whenever they speak to each other, is different from speaking to another tribe. They always involve insult if they speak to another tribe. Especially if you do not understand Twi.
  Now politicians like NPP, believe since NDC is formed by majority Akans, they should turn everthing into insult to get themselves heard by Ghanaians. So, at the end of the day, they have to oppose everything that NDC does even if is good for Ghana. Beside, they have a sort of hate for people too much to a point that if you are not an Akan, even though you are a member of the party they still consider you an alien. But, instead of them to go back into history to understand each an every Ghanaian tribe, they feel reluctant to do so.

  There should be penalties for politicians or others accusing others without evidence of wrong doing. Insulting people in public without cause should be illegal and prosecutable in Ghana. It's too rampant. We are a civilised society with cultural respect for authority and the elderly. How can you be calling people names in public. If you can make your case then shut up!
  If you can't prove your position then stop being malicious and evil! You should face the full rigous of the law.

  I agree with you that we should all ignore those who still choose to wallow in darkness perpetually, as that is their own deliberate prerogative, which is predicated on their sovereign will since the good Lord has given each and everyone of us such freewill to exercise. Since I saw the light from Genesis 1:27-28 that the good Lord created me in his own image & likeness; bless me to be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, subdue and have dominion over everything by using knowledge from my wonderful brain he gave to me, why should I now decide to make a wrong choice to remain in darkness by "raining" insults on those who are carrying out the Lord's commandments? The second light I saw comes from Ps 139:19 that I am fearfully & wonderfully made so and third light comes from Ps 8:5 which indicated that the good Lord made me a little lower than himself and crowned me with glory and honor. Therefore, my question is; which person in his/her right mind, who has now discovered that he/she is fearfully and wonderfully made and crowned with glory and honor will dishonor all these wonderful gifts and produce insults from his fearful and wonderfully made brain?? Unless that person (s) do not belong to the human race in my view?? Cheers!!! Aluta continua to get rid of all insults/indecency from Ghanaweb, Ghanaian airwaves, and the print media!!!!   Mister Ayitey, I told you point blank that the root cause of all the dysfunctional, arrogant, disrespect and abusive language on Ghana media and public places, is owing to the mass migration of non-indigenous groups to the capital. Had they attempted to assimilate into the culture, etiquette, attitudes of the southern people of Ghana, much could have been appreciated by now. Instead, they came down and are still converging on the Capital Accra like locusts, with no real ambition, except to maraud. The negative factors are the excessive use of the Twi language, which for its originators could be a weapon of dominance. The second destructive wave is the extreme and uncontrollable illegal activity. Encroachment on any and all vacant patches of land, illegal commerce (street vending), residential vending, uncontrolled commercial vehicle business. When you throw in an unpolished language utilized by 99.9% of these marauders, the answer my friend is WHAT WORRIES YOU.
  
  If you want to change Ghana for real and for the better, I dare you to address these concerns with the same alacrity that you've made the above claim.
  
  To help you out, why don't you ask our learning institutions to set up debating societies in the following categories:
  
  1. Ga Debating Society
  2. Hausa Debating Society
  3. Ewe Debating Society
  4. Nzema Debating Society
  5. Twi Debating Society.
  6. English Debating Society
  7. French Debating Society
  
  Monitor all of the above local language debating societies and the 2 optional foreign language debating societies, then publish your findings.
  
  Please, any local language debating society that mixes English with their local language in debate shall be disqualified.
  
  I have to my utter disgust heard some of these by-force local language stations start discussions in English, then out of the blue, they intermingle the entire discussion with some arrogant local interjections. It is always the moment when I recognize that we are not a serious people, just a bunch of ethnocentric elements, too ashamed to accept that English our National language is as good as Jesus Christ to us Ghanaians.
  
  In conclusion, I say limit the use of our local languages in our national media circles, til they become polished and sophisticated. Also all our local languages deserve EQUAL TIME!!!

  Thanks for your views expressed but I would like to state that if we are to build a real strong vibrant country, we should use the our "perceived" differences as a unifying force to unite the country through the lens of" United we Stand, divided we fall".
  I will be addressing the issue of misconception of tribalism in Ghana in my subsequent articles, so that we can use it as a force for good.

We have an equal stake in the fortrunes and misfortunes of our nation and the wicked and unscrupulous, the most vociferous who spew garbage will forever have their way if the wise and prudent fail to say something or contribute meaningfully to the debate. Average people with nothing but foot in the mouth disease should not be allowed to sit at the table where and when important decisions are made.It's not the size of the dog that matters in the fight but it's the size of the fight in the dog.We need thinkers who wear no party paraphernalia and who stand for their country with translucent patriotism.We don't need those who are in the business of exploiting the base instincts of the people to push their political agenda.There's no shortage of good men with bright ideas in Ghana.
