If we assume that a polling station could have been involved in more than one of the alleged categories of malpractice/irregularity and therefore there was the need to label copies of the same pink sheet differently to explain the various categories, how do you arrive at the total votes in each category. Is it not by totaling the votes of each of the polling stations mentioned in that category as evidenced by the pink sheets? Or do the petitioners say that "because we have used another copy of the pink sheet of a particular polling station in calculating the total votes of one category of irregularity, we will not use those same votes in calculating the total for this other category. Will listing it as part of the category of irregularity and not using it in the calculation of the total votes thereof not amount to confusing if not misleading the court?

Jeff, if a pink sheet had, for example, 4 cracks only one was counted for that particular pink sheet. The petitioners explained several times but that knucle-head Lithur would have none of that.

It takes only the man who has taken the pain to clear the brains first, and follow the issues as they unfold to make the least wisdom from the proceedings. Do we even border to know the method of labeling the exhibits? If say MBV... is the prefix for over voting category, how can we be so dumb to see nothing wrong with same polling station pink sheets exhibited twice as say MBV1002 and MBV1005 in the same category of over voting? Lets be smart!
Besides from what my good logical friend Jeff analyzed, should we not expect that the total number of pink sheets exhibited correspond to the number of polling stations petitioners claim there were electoral irregularities?

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PINK SHEETS REFERENCED ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THOSE IN THE CATEGORY OF POLLING STATIONS WHERE ONLY ONE OF THE ALLEGED MALPRACTICES OR IRREGULARITIES OCCURRED. SUCH PINK SHEETS CAN APPEAR ONLY ONCE AS EXHIBITS AND CANNOT BE REFERENCED OR EXHIBITED ANYWHERE IN ANY OTHER CATEGORY. BUT THIS DOUBEL REFERENCE OR TRIPPLE REFERENCE OR QUADRUPLE REFERENCE IS WHAT HAS HAPPENED. I CAN'T SEE YOUR POINT HERE BECAUSE DR BAWUMIA HIMSELF HAS SEEN THE REASON IN THE POINTS MADE BY TONY LITHUR AND HAS TRIED TO EXPLAIN THAT YES THIS IS A MISTAKE AND SHOULD NOT HAPPEN BUT WENT ON TO SAY THAT HE DID NOT USE THOSE PINK SHEETS TWICE OR THRICE OR MORE THAN ONCE IN HIS CALCULATIONS. THAT SHOULD BE THE NEXT THING TO LOOK AT. AS FOR TONY'S OBSERVATION THEY ARE VERY ACCURATE AND ACCEPTED BY DR BAWUMIA ...SO FOR YOU HERE TO BE STRUGGLING TO UNDERSTAND THE LOGIC AND NOW FURTHER CONFUSING THE IGNORANT READERS IS A BIG DISSERVICE YOU ARE DOING. DON'T GET CONFUSED ...AND DO NOT TALK ABOUT SETS AND ALL THAT LOGIC BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT ON THE BALL TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE. YOU ARE VERY POOR AT THE ANALYSIS. SO MY SUMMARY FOR YOU IS THAT YES SOME PINK SHEETS CAN APPEAR TWO THREE FOUR TIME DEPENDING ON HOW MANY OF THE ALLEGED IRREGULARITIES WAS NOTED AT A PARTICULAR POLLING STATION. SOME PINK SHEETS ARE ALSO TO APPEAR ONLY ONCE AS EXHIBITS IN THE CASE OF POLLING STATIONS WHERE ONLY ONE TYPE OF IRREGULARITY OCCURRED....AND THIS IS THE TYPE THAT TONY LITHUR IS DEALING WITH. I HOPE MY LESSONS TO YOU HAS CLEARED YOUR HAZY IDEA ABOUT THE ISSUES AT STAKE.

I think there is an illogical thinking with my NDC folks. Let me try and break it down for them. When there is more than one irregularities in a polling station, any good data analyst will make multiple copies of the information (THE PINK SHEET) with each copy depicting one irregularity. So if three irregularities occurred in one polling station, there would be three copies of the pink sheet for that polling station, this does not mean the polling station has been counted three times. The three irregularities would be collated to their respective categories. Tony Lithur initially thought the copies were mistake hence his initial confidence and aggressiveness but when he realise the futility of his cross examination his body language changed but could not stop for the sake of face saving. Now what he is doing is to waste time

If Dr Bawumia is an economist and needed to be frugal, cut cost and do proper analysis theoretical and scientific his peers can judge him why waste time printing same sheets twice.
A proper Ph.D. should have categorized, classified or even grouped without the drudgery of duplication. Don't you think so.
In short it was clear he wanted to deceive the court, lie or whatever motive hence, he brought that upon himself. PERIOD. He should go back to the classroom son or sir.

We know that the petitioners tendered evidence (pink sheets) on some 11,000 polling station. My questions will be
:1. How many pink sheets were provided to court and respondents? If the number of pink sheets given to the court and respondents were exactly the same as the number of polling stations being contested by petitioners, then we surely have a problem of duplication as being shown by lawyers for 1st respondent. But if total number of pink sheets presented to the court and respondents is more than the total number of polling stations being contested by petitioners, then Dr. Bawumia COULD PROBABLY be right with his explanation that duplications occurred in the process of transitioning from manual to electronically generated pink sheets.
2. Why were different signatures found on same polling station pink sheets? Did different set of people sign same copies? Were these signatories just endorsing the pink sheets as evidence to be tendered in to the court or were these signatures being purported to be signatures of polling agents and presiding officers then we could potentially have a situation of fraud and intent to purposely deceive the court. But the issue of who was signing what and for what purpose was not clear from cross examination... I WILL REST MY CASE FOR NOW!!!

Of course,Almighty GOD is in control, yeah, He is control everywhere. Adofo you have no different interest than the so called petitioners have so don't speak as you are speaking for everybody. If Dr Bawumia has nothing to do with those duplicated pink sheets that accompanied him to the premises of the supreme court where he was going to stand as a witness with evidences handy in his briefcase, why then did he take them along and presented them there? He might have thought the respondents or their lawyers might not look at them one by one to check anything thereby making him able to make his case sweeter with those duplicated sheets. Adofo, you mustn't stand afar and make those noise because everybody has a discerning mind and we are watching and listening to the proceedings closely.

Guys, before you start making lame arguments, I wish to state that, there are many people who are statistically challenged. The fact is, NDC defence should have sought advice from a good statistician because the key witness they are dealing with in the matter before the court simply relates to figures. Certainly, the witness will never be understood because what he simply did was to use a statistical approach or method to prove his case.
NDC lost in that direction. The type of approach used in their cross-examination will never do the trick. I wonder how one can use philosophical approach to address a statistical issue. I wonder how NDC intends to do it because at the end of it, all they will be able to say in their summing up is that the witness admits that he made a mistake so they can also make mistake. No!
NDC must be able to speak directly to the issues under discussion which they have not succeeded in doing, unfortunately. Assuming a lay person who is not statistically astute is to judge the matter, it is possible that the plaintiff/witness would confuse the judge by is method of presentation to their own disadvantage BUT in this case I see the defence giving the principal witness/plaintiff golden opportunities to explain his position/presentation even clearer to the referees. Now that the referees have a clear picture of the method and process used in the plaintiff's presentation the defence will shoot itself in their foot. Already, they have not been able to speak to the core issues at stake nor disproved any in the opportunity given them. Praise God it is a live court. I am afraid to say that "my party" is fighting a loosing battle.
To reiterate what one contributor has said, a good student will use categorization to group ease case and label it accordingly. Statistically each case may appear more than once in different category depending on frequency of occurrence. Each occurrence has to be labelled. You can either do a frequency table at the end and interpret it accordingly or run a statistical analysis to give you desired results. This is exactly what the witness has done. In running the statistics there is no way the computer will double count in one category. If it did you can easily pick it out if the sum total is more than a hundred. The witness is so used to running figures; to tell me such a person will not look at the totals or progressions in his analysis begs belief.
The problem we have as spectators in this trial is that too many lay people are seeking to comment on expert matters or are too emotionally attached to one party or the other and do not give a hoot about what they say or write. As for the propaganda, annoying as they may see, we shall continue to hear them but it is all nonsense.
