The reshuffle was sorely done to avert the Northern Region problem after Mahama has appointed 9 Ministers from the Dagomba and Gonja tribes. He found out he cannot appoint a Gonja to be a Northern Regional Minister without another Akofem war so he came up with the stupid reshuffle to safe his ass.

We still have tribes in Ghana, and so we cannot not talk about tribes. You cannot wish away the fact that Ghana is made up of different ethnic groups. I am a Ghanaian, but I am also Grunshi and no one can take that away from me. And so we need to be ethnic sensitive in dealing with national issues or else we are going to alienate and exclude some ethnic groups from participating in the development of the country and from benefiting from the gains of development. This can lead to conflicts and instability.

Why will any one think that John Mahama will make any mamprusi a minister. Why John Mahama was a vice president under Mills, his people from Gonjaland led by their assemblyman went and burnt down a whole mamprusi village with the aim of claiming the land to expand Gonjaland and create the Gonja region. John Mahama said nothing and silence they say, means concern. Secondly. Bawumia is a mamprusi and challenging the legitimacy of Mahama as president. It is therefore not surprising that John Mahama has decided to sideline Mamprusis in his appointments. This is a lesson for reasonable people in the NDC party to think again.

Yes, let's think Ghana, but we cannot wish away the fact that Ghana is made up of different ethnic groups. That is why the Constitution stipulates that ministerial appointments should be regionally balanced. Although the Constitution does not mention ethnic balance, but that is implied. If President Mahama did not have a single Ashanti or Ewe in his cabinet, how would Ashantis and Ewes have reacted? Nantogma Mustapha had nothing to do with that provision in the Constitution, so do not blame him. He is only stating a fact of life. Well, this is a lesson for Mamprusis.

Discerning minds must remember that there is no tribe in Northern Region which is numerically larger than Konkombas.If Konkombas who have six (6) Members of Parliament on NDC ticket and has the propensity of winning close to twenty seat in Ghana should they go tribal. Is it not equally surprising that they are accredited with only a minster.The point I am making is that, in politics tribal numbers must be backed by party loyalty in order to make a ministerial score. Political novies should take note.
