If we are really one people and they really believe so to be true then why are they always attacking the Ashantis unprovoked. Why do people deliberately tag NPP Ashanti party? Now Akyem is added because of Bawumai. We are not one people and sadly we will never be one people because politician especially those from the NDC who have so much advantage in singling out Ashantis and tagging them with tribalism will not allow us to unite. These days there is so much talk about mahama being opposed because he is northerner and bawumia is being used etc. There are people who will make sure that we dont unite as one people. You will even be surprise to find Akans paid to do this against their own people when they should know better. Money does so much these days.

Indeed, that's the qs some of us had asked before and has developed what I've dubbed "didactic history" in my presentation of Africa's turbulent and brutal past. As a sequence to the Chickens Coming Home to Roost: The Great Lakes Region in conflict, I shall soon start serialising the section on Ghana.

The narration of just cold facts is not enough. What moral lessons we must learn from the past are equally important, as without that, history becomes a deadening pastime reviewing the garbage dumps of our forefathers.

Africa. Even the Europeans who came to African uninvited, fought senseless wars like any other humans on this planet. Alexander the Great, Atilla the Hun, Jenghis Khan then think of the atrocities meted out to the natives living in the Americas.

You cannot hold the Ashantis as the sole or the only tribe to engage in such tribal wars.

What prompted the first and the second World Wars where millions perished. Wars will never exit this world as long as there are humans.

Why nobody thinks beyond their noses. Now, despite the convoluted, twisted, misguided, irrational and impractical chronology of this Ananse War Story, I strongly believe that the sole purpose of this articles release is to build a false sense of strength and hope in Ashantis of Modern Ghana, in light of the political tensions in the country today. These same elements in parliament and Ashanti NPP leadership have been advocating for coups, strikes, disobedience and basically wrecking our nation.

It is shocking to me to recognize that Ashantis just can't resist exposing their primitive and pitiful past. Has anybody seen some of the colonial and ancient pictures of these so called warriors. Did I read somewhere in the article about an "Ashanti War Minister"? Oh Lord of Israel, how I wish the writer had pictures to depict some of these atrocious wars. The British, whom unfortunately were more civilized and forthcoming than our natives in those times, have a totally different perspective and story line of those times. Trouble with other ethnic groups of Ghana is that, they sit around mute and allow the Ashanti's to spew venom and stupendous lies, while they complain, meanwhile Ghana as a territory has some intense rich history based on facts, not comedy of errors. Even the Confederacy of the Southern States of America, still feel proud that they fought a losing battle, and somehow in the back of their minds, yeah they WON simply because some of them are alive.

Ashantis are their own worst enemies. Apart from Ewes whom I do not know too well and cannot define their true nature, I cannot finger any other single ethnic group of Ghana that is wicked, hateful, fictitious, afraid of their own shadow and hegemonic. Why are Ashntis the only group who always want to reinvent themselves, redefine themselves, and reassure themselves? No ethnic group in Ghana today can be marginalized. Our best option is to see being these primitive nomenclatures and social groupings, class distinction is a natural process, and you cannot force it, by making some poor trashy illiterate Ashanti citizen feel superior to a Northern or Southern aristocrat.

You make ordinary people who have nothing but love for all mankind want to hate Ashantis (I mean innocent good natured Ashantis). We need some real Accra-bred Ashantis to battle these insurgents who gave them all a bad name.

Seriously, what real pride or glory can anybody derive from this disjointed narrative? Don't make some white person with facts reveal to us our savage past.

Those who setlled were later incorporated into the dagbon army. That's why some dagombas bear the names kwame, Kyirifo, changpong, etc. From the time of Naa Luro to Naa Zangina.

The Asantes who came to Dagbon were military advisers who also knew how to manufacture guns. Going back to the old days the only people in Dagbon who made the guns locally were the decendants of Dagbon-Kanbonsi and that is because the skill was passed down from their forefathers.

The truth is that the Dagbon Kingdom was in existence for about 300 years before the Asante Kingdom and the Dagombas were also known to be very brave and successful in many of the wars that they fought. However, they were very good at using bows and arrows, spears and swords because that was the weapons they had before they got gun skills from Asantes who were their comrades in arms.

the wole account of the writer is not correct & its bad for him to twart the history of this country to favour his asante tribe, everthing of the history about the war of 1807 is not correct, it was amo adai whose grave was looted, the capital of fante confedtation was not abora its mankessim, kojo otibu & kwaku aputae took refuge in anomabu, & colnel torrance was govner of anomabu, the war was not against the fantes it was fought between only the anomabus & ashantis.those who took refuge were not in kormantine but fort william in anomabu & it was colonel torrance who sold half of them into slavely
on akyem wars what he wrote is 90 % fake. the akyems had defeated osei bonsu on 3 wars utill he requested sehwi's, dagombas, adansi & dentkyira's before the ashantis were able to deafeat the akyims. the problem is whenever the any ashanti write a history he dont mention any defeat the asantehene suffers becouse it is an offence in his tribe ( mind ) to talk about it. the akyims defeated osei tutu & kill him, the akuapims defeated asante in many wars, the fantes had won many battles against asante in which 1 of them osei bonsu was killed, they suffered the heavy defeat at kormantine in which 15 royals including 2 nephews of asantehene were killed, & its NTEM KESE ( the great abomination for any asante to comment on it ) if you go to any asante town to say, ME KA MEMENDA NE KORMANTE, U will be sent to Manhyia Palace to cut a sheep to pacify the Golden Stool. like late Proff.
