  I can understand where you're coming from. There is no free lunch anywhere in the world again. Parents must begin in earnest to teach their children by their personal example the benefits of hard work and ingenuity and teach them to shun the culture of dependency and break its shackles for ever.
  Free lunch is not a gift but in most instances a bribe in disguise. Why would a politician give some stranger $50 in exchange for his voters id? It's because he recognizes that he cannot win a free and fair election He has to buy your vote with his money.This gesture may seem insignificant at first but its effects are likely to reverberate throughout an entire lifetime. When you unwittingly accept the $50 it'd give instant short-lived gratification but you'd end up like Esau who sold a whole birthright worth millions of dollars for a bowl of soup.
  Free lunch results in enslavement. When you freely receive you surrender your rights and privileges. You cannot give anything to a magnanimous person. After you have served him, he at once puts you in debt by his magnanimity.
  Can we imagine what progress this whole nation including our president, parliamentarians, supreme court judges, teachers, farmers, fishermen, doctors, engineers,etc, will see if all her citizens decide to work very hard and earn every penny they spend.The nation is in debt because most people expect something for nothing.They want to get paid for no work done. When we become a nation of takers very soon there would be nothing left to take and it wont be long before the nation is auctioned for peanuts.When we all work hard they will be more than enough for everybody and no one will ever again have to go to bed hungry, become homeless,unable to take care of their basic and essential needs.Taking is dependency which leads to enslavement. Hard work brings prosperity which renews us to become givers. When we give freely from our abundance we become more blessed.

  Free school lunch is not only offered to Ghanaian school kids but also in the developed countries . Free lunch is not by individual rich people but from taxes we all pay . Qualification is based on individual's income and number of dependent in the family .Children who will otherwise go without lunch in the afternoon are given the chance to enjoy breakfast and lunch in school. There is nothing wrong with government offering these children food . You will rather see government awarding themselves big pay raises and denying children a meal. Unfortunately there people who are not as rich as your folks to afford all the basics in life .

  Mr Kwasi,you got the point. Let's just bear with our brother who has tried to give an opinion but who, unfortunately, has mixed everything including the assistance the white people grant us and which is well calculated. I thing that the initiative of the Gov't to alleviate the financial weight on the shoulders of ghanaians' families by granting lunch to their children is commendable. The first President of Ghana, Dr Kwame N'krumah provided the school children with many free items in order to encourage a mass education. You do not talk about independence if you do not have educated and competent people to take over from the colonial crooks and bandits and oppressors Moreover, President Mahama's Party is a Socio-democrat one and not a purely capitalist one who does not care about the mass but a few group of privileged persons within the whole population. Lastly, I recommend that we trust a little bit in our leaders and commend whatever good actions they are taking and criticizing the bad actions to enable them to improve their governance.
