why worry, I want to ask all those commenting on this to first of all get the meaning of National Service and get it clearly before commenting. Abdul-Rahim Sulemana is making sense and I think we need to support him and understand that national service has no boundaries and that it could be any other job provided it is in the interest of the nation. Who is a graduate ? Africa mentality, and this is the cause of Africa countries always trailling the queue of development, because all graduates in Africa want to sit in airconditioned rooms and expect God to do the rest of the things needed in life. No wonder pray for me is now the slogan in Ghana.

why do we always want to put square pegs into round holes. directing traffic is not bad, but the question is how well can this be done by people who have no knowledge about how it should be done. training these people will also require the use of money which the country wants to save for national interest. you spoke about the police undergoing years of training to do this job to gain some level of expertise and you want to use days of some month to do this. wooooow!!! the youth out there are struggling to get something to do and has no option than to engage in robbery why we give them the chance.

It's not a question about whether or not directing traffic is beneath university students. It's about whether or not we using them efficiently and effectively. You don't need to use scarce national resources to train people to use hem in areas that require that amount of training and resource-use. They could have been directed to the education sector to teach in our rural communities that are crying out for good teachers. The opportunity cost of using these skilled resources in traffic direction is teaching positions that these students could have filled in deprived communities. And by the way, why do our resources use have such urban bias - everything is geared toward satisfying the needs of city dwellers at the expense of rural communities?

Don't we have Teachers as we have Trafic Wardens? Are trafic wardens not in short supply as teachers are? We Ghanaians are too proud at home whenever we cross a certain level but we do more less respected jobs we we travel out of the country to help those economics. Are we not fooling ourselves and degrading Ghana as a whole? I just see no reason why Kuagbenu should be sacked even though it might be a one man decission. Why should the Board wait until this proposal before going on air to express their misgivings about Mr. Kuagbenu? Was it because of the debate it brought? We shall always be left behind if we as a country continue to let go the well intended brains of our policy makers for political reasons. Mr. Kuagbenu, take your knowledge somewhere else even if it means leaving the shores of Ghana. We shall continue to be a Backward Nation.

Mr. There is no basis on what u are saying. Do ur research we again and come to publish on the media. Nss or government is not responsible for payment of allowance to personels posted at the private sector. It is the private sector that pays. And whether the same allowance or not some personels should not under the sun and others in the air conditions. Beside s service personnels should posted based on the course of study so the one can exhibit his/her talent. Nurse and doctors are now doing the mandatory service. should they go to direct traffic? There is no sence in what u are saying.

Are we saying after training our graduates with huge some of money it worth it to make them trafic wardens, woooooooooo wow what a country with barren ideas leaders.

you are saying we should serve our country but it does not care about us, the youth. there are no equal opportunities in this country anymore and almost all graduates will like to serve somewhere that there is a possible future for them, thus employment after service and traffic warden is not going to give u any of that, not considering the dangers involved. this current government has already failed the youth and this nation at large. I always use to say that i would not like to disappointing Ghana, it turns out that its Ghana rather that's disappointing me..We need good leadership in this country.

If really this is a problem in the country, we must add it to the NYEP so that it becomes optional instead of compulsory to anyone to move in. SHS graduates who because of poor grades and can continue to tertiary level may be employed through the NYEP and train them to join the police later on just as it is happening to those who join NYEP as nurses and eventually find themselves in nurse training institutions and become nurses despite with poor grades.

ghanaians are too proud that is why the country is not improving. Unemployment is everywhere so you just grab anything until you find a good job. There are a lot of graduates working in fast food joints, Private security companies, costodians etc in the western world. Who cares about your degree is that what you will eat? It is time to stop all these nonsense and do something that will bring food to your table instead of winning all over. There are more people in diaspora who a doing menia jobs and making good money to cater for their families both here and back home. I thing it is time to change that perception and move forward.
