A case that has been thrown out of court on a technicality does not really absolve the alleged culprit. It does not vindicate the accuser either. The only thing we can say is that Kpegah's case against Akufo has not been proven. This does NOT mean that Akufo is innocent of all or part of the charges arraigned against him. We are still as ignorant of the true nature of the affair as we were before the suit was filed. WE JUST DO NOT KNOW!!! We cannot say that Akufo has proven his case in court since the matter was not even gone into.

It would have been better for Akufo if the case had been tried and he came out clean from due process. As at now, before the law, he has done no wrong. But public opinion will not see it that way. Those who hate Akufo will continue believing in the rumours about him since they haven't been shown any evidence that the said rumours are untrue. It's only those who support Akufo before the suit who will jubilate about the outcome even though they too have not been given any evidence as to the untruthfulness of the allegations.

So, in a way, we've all been duped!

As for Kpegah, he should hold his head in shame. He should not have gone to court IN THE FIRST PLACE. Even if he knew that there was something fishy about the manner in which Akufo was called to the bar in Ghana, he should just have kept his mouth shut over it. He should have known that such an acussation would be difficult to sustain in court. And he worsened the whole issue by adding the outrageous charges of impersonation, murder, dead bodies and others that even the best detective novelist cannot come up with. It is not every suspicion of an offence that one can take to court! In this case, he goofed biiiig time.

But I am doubtful if Akufo-Addo has won any new converts...

People know the schools he went to in England and people know all his records and achievements both here and abroad. You think the UK is like Ghana under the evil NDC where crooks can buy their way into any office? Before the UK bar will take you in, you must really have qualified. That be your pain now and forever, but many Ghanaians are not as ignorant about Nana's record as you NDC people are, so next time, don't bunch all of us together and speak your evil opinion for us! 1. You said I am NDC. But I am not NDC. You have made the childish mistake of thinking that anybody who doesn't clearly come out in support of Akufo like you, is by that reasoning, a member or supporter of NDC. That is faulty logic.

2. I never said that Akufo didn't attend law school or was not called to the bar in England. Show me where I said that?

3. I never said anywhere that Akufo is guilty. Show me where I said that? I even said categorically that before the law, he has done no wrong. Did you read that in my second paragraph?

4. The thrust of my post is that, we don't know any better because the case has not been tried. Nothing has been proven in this case. Kpegah did not prove his case. Akufo did not have the chance to present his case either. Akufo has not won this case. He has not lost it either! This on a very moral level.

5. I said the rumours about Akufo has to do with the manner in which he got called to the bar in Ghana. You and I don't know because we were not there when it happened.

I have been very critical of Nana Akufo Addo and other Ghanaian leaders but that does not mean I hate him. I have never condemned him. In fact, I have done him more good than harm by making public and confirming what is being peddled as rumours about him. By that way, I have contributed to or put an end to such allegations, though some people think that I did so with bad motives. That is their view.

I really believe Justice Kpega was used by some political operatives who realised he has dementia. Ihave heard it on the grapevine that, when Kpegah was a Judge in Cape Coast during his early years of his career, he was a womanizer who threw his wife from the house and went ahead to have many children with different women.

The man has eleven children and it's sad he seems like a lonely man. I just feel sorry for him.

Do you believe the GLC who have come out openly to state that Nana Addo wrote to them in 2007 advising that he had misplaced his certificate? Do you believe Justice Kpegah when he says that he does not dispute the fact that a William Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo read law?
On the flip side, do you believe that William Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo was murdered? Do you belive that Nana Addo is using the cerificate of 'that' William Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo? Why has no one come forward to claim that 'that' William Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo was their relative? To prove that Nana Addo is, indeed fake, why has nobody in Ghana come forward to claim that they went to school with 'a' William Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo who was not Nana?
I know that names are not exclusive to any families in Ghana. However, in some cases, there could be exceptions. Can you think of any family in Ghana that could have a member go by the name William Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, beyond Nana's family?
In any case,Justice Kpegah had known of a murder case all these years and kept quiet over it. Should the BNI not be interrogating him over that? In the civilised societies where governments have minimal control over the security agencies, Justice Kpegah's claim of 'murder' would have led to a swift investigation of the matter. What are they waiting for? The discovery of a body would be enough basis for investigations. Especially, as Justice Kpegah has given the location of the illegal burial of the victim.
Who are the people condoning evil and fraud? Could one ask you to be ashamed of condoning witch-hunt and character assassination? If their lordships, the justices, have thrown out the case based on the argument advanced by Nana's lawyers, why call him a coward? There are 'many ways of killing a cat', if you do not know. Was Justice Kpegah not represented by his lawyers? If they had a strong case, why couldthey not state it?
You accuse the Judiciary, GLC and GBA of connivance and call them 'disgruntled elements'. It is sad. If they had given judgement in favour of Justice would you have used those words to describe them?

I have previously posted critical comments against Kpegah on this forum since he brought this frivolous suit. Nana presented a paper on constitutional law when members of the National Bar Association from the US visited Ghana in 1996. I was part of the delegation that went to Ghana and I was impressed with Nana's analysis of landmark constitutional law cases in Ghana. He was then the President of the Greater Accra Bar Association. Co- panelist were SKB Asante and the Late Justice Anin. I was therefore shocked when Kpegah brought this claim against Nana's standing with the Bar. I thought the claims were frivilous given the contribution Nana has made to Ghana's jurisprudence. In any event, it is evident Kpegah is seriously ill and I'm in agreement that Nana should not file any counterclaims against Kpegah. I'm also of the view that Kpegah should remain in the government bungalow and pass the rest of his life in peace. He is a tragic fellow.

My sister, I know it's easier for me to say that, Nana Akufo Addo should forgive him. Imagine what I would do if I were in Nana's shoes. However, looking at the overall state of health of the retired Justice, would he survive any punishment (prosecution, a fine or imprisonment)? Should the inevitable happen to him (May God forbid) whilst he is undergoing such punishment (even during prosecution), people will turn round and blame others for it. Is that what we want?

Remember, just last week I read on Ghanaweb that a staunch NDC member claimed that Nana was such a humble person. This was the result of an encounter he had with Nana at the Supreme Court. I think Nana can do this and forgive the old man.

However, it is important to keep in mind the absolute implications and repercussions of Justice Kpegah's court suit against Nana Akufo-Addo as a person, profession, his Presidential ambition, and on Ghana's image worldwide.

Justice Kpegah may look frail, and had his suit against Nana Akufo-Addo dismissed by the High Court. However, here is a breathlessly determined and defiant man who managed to tarnish Nana Akufo-Addo's reputation and clowning the Ghanaian public with this serious allegation. We don't exactly know his motive for this but if it is a criminal offence to make a false statement of fact about the academic credentials and profession of a Presidential candidate, one time the country's AG and Foreign Minister, which turns out to be untrue, then Nana Akufo-Addo in this case, should take libel action against Justice Kpegah[not for financial gains] but in the context of putting down a marker against such defamatory and malicious allegations which have polluted our polity.

Imagine if Justice Kpegah had pursued a successful High Court action against Nana Akufo-Addo? I bet Nana would have prayed for the earth to swallow him up! And Kpegah would have enjoyed the limelight there after!

MASSA KOFI, as a kid, I was taught at my Catholic catechism that "the unrepentant souls end up in hell!" I believe a remorseful and penitent Kpegah would have retracted his allegation and issued a public apology to Nana and the Ghanaian public. Defiant and determined Kpegah should be sued!

In fact, if I knew that the six pages list I copied and pasted under the article would not appear, I would have made a fuller analysis of this case.

LONTO-BOY, I do not know how Nana Addo feels about this case and only he know how it feels to be treated this way by your own people. He will probably need the forgiveness of Nelson Mandela, the patience of the Dalai Lama and the diplomacy of Kofi Annan to be able to handle this matter. We are just mere observers but I pray that God guides him to make the right decision.

At least today some of us as a result of retired Supreme Court Judge Justice Kpegah's writ know that Nana has no certificates. This was admitted in court. This sort of influenced justification can only be entertained in Ghana but nowhere else in the world. Why can't Nana Akufo Addo obtain a duplicate from the institutions he attended or the GLC provide copies rather than testimonials and notes? We are just too civilised for this sort of behaviour. Cecilia's action is pathetic as some of us strongly believe NAD is indeed impersonating. We want the whole World to hear Justice Kpegah when given the chance to mount the dock (otherwise the much talked about 'Thriller in Manilla' will never be witnessed in Ghana). NAD will live to fight another day may be international. Now Uncle Ata, your articles have always been very good to read. One thing is clear. You are not offering any good address to the certificate saga. Majority of the contributors in this forum are not quite sure who is telling the truth about NAD. Who is the true NAD? Surely, Nana would have 'taken' the certificate if his sole purpose in committing the 'murder' was to impersonate. How else could he prove he was William Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo? In any case, is there a family in Ghana that had a member who studied law, was known by that name, went missing and was never heard of again? Did that WAD Akuffo Addo who was murdered not have any classmates? Why has no-one come forward to claim they had a classmate by that name? If Nana was not the lawyer with number 1190, surely people in the legal fraternity would know who that lawyer was. It was not that long ago. WAD Akuffo Addo would have been a contemporary of lots of people in the legal fraternity today. Did he also not have a classmate? Why waste resources when the means exist for Justice Kpegah and his supporters to prove everybody else wrong?

the Trial judge just unprofessionaly dismissed it as frivolous without asking any questions or demanded answers to the raised question, she just did a cover up Job against ghanaians so how can you say akufu addo should forgive kpega? that he akuffu addo had not able to produce his certificate, could not mention the Name of Institution which trained him to become a lawyer,
