  I think this writer is not realistic. UTAG went on strike to press home our demands for payment of outstanding allowances and for salary restoration which was overdue. What is bad about this? If the leadership of UTAG unilaterally decided to call off the strike in a true spirit of national development and the welfare of students , again,what is wrong about? Yes the country may be waylayed in advancement in science and technology particularly from the vestigial contribution by our universities. Nontheless, we will surely get moving someday. Remember Rome was not built in a day. I know there are scores of Lecturers like me who are currently on study leave from Ghanaian universities and are engaged in advanced research work in foreign universities. We shall return home one day with our knowledge and the story will not be the same. Remember also that imbibing science and technology in national development doesn't come easy as studying English and Critiquing. The latter everyone can do. Hence, it does appear to all people in the 'English' study that all are homologous. They are frenetic to judge the language of others rather than the little sense they can make of the articles written by technocrats. Much as I agree with the paucity of academic journals in Ghana, I think their presence of the few,is a starting point for progress. If Ghanaian academics have been able to climb the 'tan' mountain in other countries then why not in Ghana?

  Your article was a mixture of garbage packaged in a hurry and dripping from the edges! There is no doubt that we have a lot to do to improve our educational and intellectual outputs. There are other ways of addressing (and helping to address) such needs but I simply do not see you contributing in any meaningful, positive way to the process. You are a disgrace to academia and certainly to Ghanaian intellectuals anywhere. You are simply incorrigible.
