Sometimes I strongly suspect that some of these contributions, such as the one by 'Kwadwo' above, are hatched up by foreign intelligence officers with the aim of undermining the African nationalist effort and swaying the minds of Africans to continue to prescribe to attitudes which are ultimately against the interest of the African. These are sentiments that can only land us in a ditch.

This is because the substance of some of these contributions are so obviously and palpably anti-African and pro-imperialist that it defies any kind of reason or logic, supposedly coming from people who have endured the most horrifying crimes against humanity in world history.

Granted that these contributions being referred to are from true-blooded Africans, if so, what must have happened to them? What is it that could have so wrongly happened to them that they have continued to defy all the overwhelming survival reasons as to why they must rid themselves of the slave mentality.

What is it that could have so wrongly happened to them that they dont feel the pains of the dire African experience to stimulate their minds to aspire to great things for Africa and Africans?

What is it that could have so wrongly happened to them that their thoughts run parallel to those people who enslaved us, who colonized us and who continue to dominate us economically for the past 500 years?

These are some of the reasons why we should take another look at the political system that we practice. How can such a person, a person who has no serious considerations whatsoever for his/her country and race, have one vote and I have one vote each?

We cannot continue to practice a system that encourages moles within our midst to thwart our nationalist liberation efforts. We have suffered for far too long to entertain the views of recidivists and unrepentant slaves in the effort to ensure that our children and their childrens children will at least enjoy a modicum of universal respect.

Saka, good article but next time don’t attach such derogatory appendages such as ‘Honorable’ to your name. It almost made me decided to ignore your article.
Also avoid quoting from imperialist sources and leaders like Henry Ford who when he was President of the US, that country was without mercy, oppressing the human rights of over 30 million African Americans in his country. In what moral context can we then quote such a person in our effort to rid our continent of bad governance and extreme human rights violations? Our substantially distorted imperialist education always ensures that we relapse from our political endeavor to crawl back to seek solace from our oppressors. We must cure ourselves of this weakness.

If any African country could have had the genius of Henry Ford,a lot of Aficans would not wallow in the filth,deprivation and the lack of basic necessities prevalent everywhere in the continent.So give me a freaking break!!!.
Our problem in Africa is because we've not had any leaders of the caliber of a Ford.After fifty years of self rule,our development has taken a lot of steps backward because we simply cannot place the blame where it rightly belongs...at our own doorstep.
Ato,please tell us, which of the colonialists sanctioned the payment of nearly fifty-two millions dollars to a fellow Ghanaian for work undone,huh?Which delvish colonial master is collecting millions in "finders'fees"in our infant oil industry,huh? Why is it that a small country like ours is sub-divided into two hundred and seventy-five districts so that party apparatchiks can suck our helpless citizens dry by virtue of some trump-up constitutional provision,huh?`

And for crying out loud,Ato,stop quoting Kwame Nkrumah.He had the enviable opportunity to really show the white man what the black man can do.Instead he designed the template of governance being used today in our country with disastrous results.
Our salvation should start with a nationalistic, patriotic introspection that would focus our attitudes on putting God, Family Our Nation in that order of our priorities, instead of skimming to exploit each other to satisfy our insatiable materialistic tendencies.

One of the comments by Kofi above which was properly addressed by Kojo T show some of the mindsets and attitudes we have to confront if we should start our drive towards unity.The difficulties in Africa are because of our division and it is deliberate otherwise Europe will not be aspiring towards unity.It is a struggle but fortunately the present day youth is increasingly becoming aware of the teaching of Nkrumah and the founding fathers of the OAU now AU.They have become believers and their enthusiasm is boundless.The universities in Africa have access to the work of the founding fathers and they are studying them voraciously.Let those apologist for the white man sit and stair and before they realize events have surely overtaken them.

I think we should be doing more individually and not leave it all to our leaders, the African Parliament does not have legislative powers even though this was supposed to be in place after 5 years, the AU is a top heavy inst.and we ordinary Africans seem happy with that we dont put pressure on our individual goverments to meet our aspirations ie our yearning for a United Africa, several African countries have oil money why are they not putting money into the AU....my point is each and everyone of us must be active..find a way to let your government push for legislative power for the Pan-African Parliament,go to the AU meeting to take action not just lip service pressure them to pay money into the AU...I have started; by encouraging you all to find ways however small locally to make the dream of a United Africa come true

If you cant think of anything just make an AU flag and fly it on top of your house,think about it; when you get to Circle Accra Ghana so many flags on display but no African Union flag..our president should be flying it side by side with the Ghanaian flag...in fact I humbly ask the President John Mahama to suggest and push at the next meeting that every African School in Africa to fly the African Union Flag beside National colours.

All members of the Pan African Parliament must be elected; that
status will enable the institution to legislate by Africans, for Africans and of Africans.

Then! Supremacy of the Pan African Parliament and the rule of law will guide Africa away from dictators and their negativity cohorts.
