NPP and NDC won and lost successive elections in the Fanteland. Fantes are not sheep or zombie to follow any leader...they have their own minds, no matter what. Fantes will never vote as ewes and anlos shamefully do each election: Voting as if they have no individual minds...that's called bigotry and am not involved, nyebro! History of Political Parties in Ghana - Ewe section

The Anlo Youth Organisation (also known as the Anlo Youth Association) was a political party that existed in the Gold Coast and later Ghana. It campaigned for the Ewe people under British rule to stay within Ghana after independence. It ended by merging with other parties to form a united opposition to the Convention People's Party

The Anlo Youth Organisation was formed by Modesto Apaloo. The party mainly functioned in south-eastern Gold Coast, where the Anlos are located.[1] The Anlos are a sub group of the Ewes found in Ghana and Togo. Togoland, where the Ewes lived was a German protectorate before World War I. In 1952, the British merged the south-eastern part of the Gold Coast which was part of the Eastern Province with the southern part of Trans-Volta Togoland, the British Togoland.

This left the Ewe divided with one half under British rule and the other half under French rule.[1] The party campaigned to have the British Togoland join Gold Coast at independence to form Ghana while the Togoland Congress preferred the UN Trust Territory to be rejoined with French Togoland.

In the election held on 15 June 1954, the party won one of the 104 seats in the Legislative Assembly.[2] Modesto Apaloo was the sole elected MP from this party.[3]

After independence

After Ghana obtained independence on 6 March 1957, the Avoidance of Discrimination Act, 1957 (C.A. 38), was passed. Its purpose was to prohibit the existence of political parties that were based on predominantly " ethnic, religious, or other sectional interests, with effect from 31 December 1957"
An Act to prohibit organizations using or engaging in tribal, regional, racial and religious propaganda to the detriment of any community, or securing the election of persons on account of their tribal, regional or religious affiliations and for other purpose connected therewith.[4]
This meant that the name Anlo which refers to a section of the Ewe people made it illegal for the party to continue to exist under that law.

All the opposition parties, including the National Liberation Movement, Moslem Association Party, Northern People's Party, Ga Shifimo Kpee, Togoland Congress and the Anlo Youth Organisation merged to form the United Party, under the leadership of Kofi Abrefa Busia.[4]

The Togoland Congress (TCP) was a political party formed in 1951 to campaign for the unification of the Ewe people in British Togoland and French Togoland as a separate Ewe state. The party was defeated in the May 1956 UN plebiscite in British Togoland, which resulted in the unification of British Togoland and the Gold Coast. The Togoland Congress won two seats in the Gold Coast elections of July 1956, but did not survive for long afterwards.[1]

The National Alliance of Liberals (NAL) was a political party in Ghana during the Second Republic (1969-1972). In elections held on 29 August 1969, the NAL won 29 out of 140 seats in the National Assembly.

Komla Agbeli Gbedemah was the founder and leader of the party
Komla Gbedemah was originally with the United Gold Coast Convention. He left with Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to form the Convention People's Party (CPP). Gbedemah was an important member of the CPP because of his organizational ability.[3] He was influential in getting Nkrumah elected to the Legislative Council on 8 February 1951 at the Elections for the Legislative Assembly. He organized Nkrumah's entire campaign while he (Nkrumah) was still in prison, detained by the colonial government. Nkrumah duly won the Accra Central Municipal seat. This led to Nkrumah being released on 12 February 1951 and his being invited to form a government.[4] Gbedemah is in some reports named as being the first to welcome Nkrumah after his release from Fort James prison.[5]

Gbedemah, who himself got elected into the Legislative Assembly, became the first Ghanaian minister for Health and Labour in Nkrumah's government. In 1954, he became the Finance minister, a position he held for seven years. He was influential in getting an initially reluctant United States government to back the building of the Akosombo Dam.[6] Later as his relationship with Nkrumah deteroriated, Gbedemah was demoted by him to Health minister in May 1961.[6] It is alleged by US sources that at a point, Gbedemah was considering the overthrow of Nkrumah. He is quoted as saying: "I would be sorry to have to do it but country has had enough of Nkrumah's arrogance, whims and madness." Nkrumah demanded Gbedemah's resignation in September 1961.[6] Gbedemah was forced into exile later the same year, after worsening relations between him and Nkrumah over what he perceived to be Nkrumah's financial indiscipline.[7][8] He is alleged to have fled as there were plans to place him under preventive detention. While in exile, he is known to have continued to lobby the US over the Akosombo dam project.[6]

Gbedemah formed and led the National Alliance of Liberals into the 1969 general election. His campaign slogan "Say it loud, I am black and proud!" was taken from the popular James Brown tune.[2] After the election, Gbedemah was barred from taking his seat in parliament. This followed a Supreme Court ruling, upholding the NLC barring members of the CPP accused of financial crimes from holding public office for ten years. This decision led him to retire from active involvement in politics.[9]

The outcome of this case which is largely to be interpreted by the SC MUST BE SEEN AS JUST and a precedence ...why are you dwelling on errors on the labelling of pink sheets when is the figures in them that are in contention..? Why because in the law courts of jurisdiction,u must be 100% sure than saying I was told ,even when told,like the writer of this article says,there were no reports n signatures were appended by polling agents of all parties.
