  Kofi,you did overwrote your article and seem to be affected by the European double-moral. CSRs are part and parcel of all operations of Corporations. An example is what is going on in Bangladesh after the collaps of the building(s) that housed the multi- garment Corporations.The reasons are similar here.

  But I am just a bit doubtful about some of your expectations concerning the advice they give their clients, specifically on avoiding paying taxes. You might've missed the recent reports in the British press in which the govt condemned the way the 4 major accounting firms in the UK, KPMG included, have been helping rich clients to avoid paying taxes or reduced taxes, taking advantage of the loopholes in the system they are aware of through their own knowledge and through working closely with govt depts. As you know, there are millionaires in the UK who don't pay taxes! KPMG and the other accounting firms help to facilitate those schemes. So, why should you expect them to operate differently in Ghana???

  congrats for great analysis, Kofi. however, i was expecting you to delve deeper into the need to avoid bias or being considered by the petitioners as compromised as one of the reasons why KPMG decided to go pro bono. you know, he who pays the piper.... if the parties were to pay, the NDC and its 'partners'( EC receives its subventions from Gov) would be having 75% responsibility. this in my view was not lost on KPMG. Since this is good advert, they would not want any author of fiction to throw sand into their gari. all the same,thumbs up ma bro.

In fact, that is precisely why I wrote the article but I did not want to make that direct accusation because I have no evidence to make such a claim.
  
  It's a shame the article received only five comments. It appears Ghanaweb readers are more interested in sensational articles. If I had written about Nana Akufo Addo or Bawumia, there would been tens, if not hundreds of comments.

  I have read your article and noticed your acknowledgement of my comment to you yesterday. I like the fact you acknowledged the fact our people waste all their time on the unnecessary(why very few have read your article this time) and this is why I turn to take a very hard stand on anyone who encourages these politics of division.
  
  Ghana at 56 years, is quite a young nation compared to those super nations. We have to learn to work together more than play this silly political games that only seem to slow us down or even retrogress us sometimes.
  
  We have a teeming illiterate masses who will spend more time on the political news than the business section on any website, including Ghanaweb.
  I don't hate foreign companies, but just wary of them. I guess who will agree with me their main duty like every business is to maximize profit.In their countries of origin, they are hunted down like rats else they escape with the booty. It is up to us to make sure that we benefit from their presence in Ghana and not otherwise.
  
  I guess you will be surprise to know that indeed, I am an Ashanti and have in the past voted of the NPP but not anymore till the party goes back to its 1990s roots set by Professor. Adu Boahen. The party must address its future than look to seek the past because there are lots of cobwebs in that wardrobe.
  I am not overly pleased with the generosity of KPMG. Two reasons. Firstly, just like you warned that this should not be a ploy to gain some undue advantage in business but they should see it as a CSR. I will prefer to wait till the job has been than to show gratitude. Secondly, that the media highlight of the audit contract to them could have forced them to declare it free, in that case, we have to encourage them (the media) to highlight more of such deals than chastise them for doing that.
  
  I agree with you that it has saved us a lot of money. Money we did not have to waste in the first place if we understood the meaning of nationhood. Again, it might help in a country were everyone and every local institution has to show their political leanings one way or the other.
  I know the fact most Ghanaians did not read this article might tempt you to go back to the popularist headlines, but I will encourage you to stick to this line of drawing the minds of our people to the real issues than the politics and I guarantee you will get my vote of confidence. Our people need leadership and we the privilege ones must lead wisely and point the way. God Bless you and God Bless Ghana.
