Nana Akuffo Addo is the father of democracy in Ghana and there was no any other way he would have taken only to have destroyed the fruits of democracy in Ghana and Africa in General, since we are all witnesses of what is happening in the African continent.Rigging of elections have been the order of the day as political parties especially incumbent presidents find articulate ways to hung on to power by means of technically manipulating the elections to their advantage and the aftermouth of these cheating expedition are the results of insequerity,instability and lack of progress on the cotinent.No one can deny the few facts I have underlined in my comments as Nigeria,Egypt,Uganda Kanya Ivory coast to mention but few may be develled with this mess in a generation to come. Akuffo Addo should be accorded a significant trouphy to his credit whether he wins or lose the court case since what he has done will be a healthy containgion for all parties to emulate should they be cheated in their future elections instead of going to war to destroy their own contries.

While it is good to commend people for doing the right thing, it is equally commendable that people are severelly punished for not doing the right thing. to me Nana saw exactly what happened to Gbagbo, and for his reputation and that of his fathers and uncles before him, he dared not incurr thr wrath of the international community and all well meaning people. Nana deserves commendation but the idea of a nobel prize is a bit far-fetched in the wake of certain comments attributed to him

Besides, conceding an electoral outcome in local Politics hardly deserves a global award of that significance and and magnitude.

Raising the international import of our General Elections this high amounts to inflating our egos way too high. Then also calling for such a hefty gratitude to anyone conceding to Elections presupposes our normal expectation of the contestants ought to have been anything but Peace.

I am afraid by this demand many would justifiably deduce the "all die be die" guiding manifesto of Akufo-Addo's camp initially then was solely to incite trouble. If it was truly a harmless euphemism for hard work to win the Elections, we should only see his concession of defeat as a normal part of his character, a gentlemanly disposition. (That is should the Court decide against him). It could go the other way, we must all admit.

And when it so occurs, we should not expect Mahama to be worthy of any more thanks for conceding beyond similar ordinary "thanks for your participation, good luck next time".

Neither the country nor the World does owe any of these individuals Ghana's existence. We should not hinge our Country's democracy on their personal dictates and desires.

Just a simple "thank you" must be enough.

What I found really troubling is that, you don't even want to give Akuffo Addo credit for the two examples I cited in the article. Nobody was expecting a war in Ghana after the elections but there was the possibility of that if we have one leader who would have behaved like Gbagbo.

You might not not accept the contribution Nana has done to the world because I know where you are coming from but Kenya and Venezuela, two countries that previously resorted to violence after elections that claimed the lives of thousands found it better to follow what Nana did by going to court instead of going to the streets to safe lives.
