One of the best written pieces on this burning issue! The author is not claiming that he knows the truth. But he is claiming that the GLC is the best placed to know the truth and it is also its duty to resolve the issue for the general public. Why the GLC has not done this up to now raises a huge question mark.

One can only conclude that either the GLC knows the truth and is trying to hide it or that they have such a hopeless record keeping system that they cannot determine the truth about Akufo's call to the bar. Either of these is a huge indictment on the council. It means that there are other fictitious things that the council either does not know or is condoning.

The other person who can make a definite pronouncement on this issue is Akufo-Addo himself. But the man is not talking. And this leads many well-meaning Ghanaians to be suspicious. How can a man not talk in his own defence in such a crucial matter? Why should he leave it to his lawyers some of whom were not born when the call to the bar happened and cannot be said to know the truth first hand?

But it's the GLC that is the greatest culprit as this write up so conclusively demonstrates. It was almost 40 years ago and those at the helm of affairs at the GLC now may be younger than the event. But it seems a certain dubious tradition has been handed down. Somewhere, the trend must be broken. SOMEBODY IS HIDING SOMETHING. The GLC must come clear the air.

This case is now beyond the courts. It is a public issue. Insults can never resolve it. We want to know the truth and the truth only. So far, Ghanaians don't know the truth about how Akufo got called to the bar and what waivers were brought in to enable him do so!!!

That would have been more democratic and could have settle all minds of this doubtful lawyer 'thing' in the minds of Ghanaians.

I am vindicated. The Ghana Bar now is Loaded with members of the freemasonry, Rotary club, Roman Catholics,Busia Danquah Shoeshine Boys and the Boys of deceased Da Rocha who ruled Ghana Law School for years. Their Sons and Daughters who got admission into Ghana Law School under Da Rocha with their very Poor grades are today in SC challenging the President elect.Ghana Paaa Nie?

Our institutions of state are not working. They are not working because those who are managing them are dishonest and corrupt. That is why I totally agree with the writer. As the writer rightly pointed out, why hasn't the General Legal Council come out to resolve this matter when it is clearly within its remit? What are they being paid for. And I am told the Chief Justice is the chairman of that statutory body. What is preventing them from delving into this matter when everything points to the fact that something is missing in this matter?

From the way Akufo Addo has conducted himself in this matter including when Nana Konadu first raised the issue, I think any responsible authorizing body would have conducted its own internal investigation to bring out the bare facts. But as the writer rightly pointed out the General Legal Council has woefully failed to carry out that assignment.

I believe it is cowardly covering up for one of their own because of the embarrassment that would ensue should the public get to know about all the facts.

That is the problem facing the country - cronysm and whom you know.

What we all want to know is what exactly happened that day he was called to the bar. Did he get some unfair advantage? Were some rules relaxed for him alone? What waivers, if any, did he get? All these can be proven or disproven without any dead bodies.

And there are people who know something that went on that day but they are not talking. It seems he is being handled in a special way and this can happen only with the complicity of the GLC. The council's reputation is at stake if it doesn't come out clearly to give us proof that everything went according to the prevailing regulations with his enrollment.

Meanwhile, the rumours will continue and they are not to Akufo's credit.

Rawlings also ended up as Ghana's Head of State for 19 years.

In any case JJR never accepted to anyone he didn't have "O" level certificate. So far it has been insinuation by detractors. This needs proof or consent by JJR on this issue.

The other fact is that, JJR never misrepresent his qualities anywhere nor did he lie about certificates or documents he never possessed. He has never been an impostor anywhere.

Akufo Addo is his own problems. He should prove he didn’t bypass the conditionality for getting called to the Ghana Bar.

If is needed, the court through which Justice Kpegah sued Nana Addo will request for it and I strongly believe the legal council are ready and prepared to answer any question bothering your mind. Why should legal council come to the air and announce anything about Nana Addo? There is freedom of information in Ghana of which you Kwado Cristo can also apply for information so why dont you do that. Someone in UK has done that and wrote everything about his findings about Nana Addo's law school redentials in the UK but still people like you Kwado Cristo dont believe so what next? I believe the case is in court and if the court needs any information they will contact the legal council for it.

Akufo-Addo is a national figure and this makes the case bigger than any fast track court's ruling. It has become a moral issue. If Akufo-Addo wants to become president for all of us Ghanaians then he has a moral duty towards us all to clear his name and tell us the truth about who he really is. If he were a village lawyer in Nkawie this will not be necessary at all.

The GLC also has a moral duty to clear the air. It needs not be asked before it does so since this is in the national interest. It's the GLC that can be the final arbiter of the truth here, not a court.

Observe also that the allegation is that Akufo got some waivers that enabled him get called to the bar in Ghana. The allegation is not that he did not go to law school. Proving that he went to law school in England does not resolve the issue.

Anybody interested in knowing the truth will want this matter resolved satisfactorily. So far it is not!

Kofi, you got it all wrong. It is the responsibility of the General Legal Council to see to it that all those practising in Ghana are well qualified. It is the body that calls people to the bar. Therefore, it is the body that suo moto conducts investigation into such a serious matter that borders on the integrity of the legal profession. The General Legal Council doesn't need a formal complaint from any member of the public to conduct its own investigation.

In the instant matter involving Akuffo Addo, no less a person than the former acting chairman of the Council is making the allegation. Anf from all indications and as per documents coming from them, Akuffo Addo doesn't have his certificates and the Council does have them. So it means that something is wrong and it's up to the Council to provide the general public with the answers competently raised by the writer.

He drove home a very important point asking why the General Legal Council has not investigated this matter. Remember that the General Legal Council is responsible to take care of this matter. Why hasn't the General Legal Council taken the care of this matter? Why should this case even find its way to the court? Isn't it waste of our resources?

The court is not the perfect forum for this case. The General Legal Council is. It is shirking its responsibility. It is showing its incompetence.

Perhaps he is afraid that they will "settle" the thing internally and cover the truth. If he suspects the GLC of complicity in the issue, he cannot take the matter to them short of suing the GLC itself.

Observe that I said "perhaps" because I also don't know the truth or what Kpegah claims he knows. But I think it is important that we go to the bottom of this matter and know exactly what is giving rise to these rumours. We must know whether Kpegah is telling the truth or he's just making things up. It is only the GLC who can provide concrete evidence of the legal status of Akufo since Akufo himself doesn't seem capable of doing that. I think that's what the article is about - the truth independently established.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo as a former AG and a presidential candidate doesn't see it fit to speak on the matter to clear the air?? even former president Kuffour has spoken, claiming that Akufo Addo is a very good lawyer. We can not continue like this in this country and expect to make any positive impact in our lives. Why do we condone crime and criminality by supporting criminals?

Why do certain people arrogate power onto themselves to speak on matters that they don´t even understand? What does Kwaku Baaku know about what is at stake? A school drop out like him! Who is fond of copying from his late father´s old newspapers?

If Akufo Addo really wants to be taken serious, he should just do the right thing by coming out clean on this matter. There is nowhere on earth where certified true copies of mising certificates are not issued. What about classmates and lecturers? No wonder, Kwaku Baaku can only defend this issue to the best of his ability to the admiration of Akufo Addo himself because he Baaku himself has no certificate.Infact, he is legally speaking, illiterate.

Who is/was Tsikata without Nana Addo?

Ghana is blessed to have a person like this man yet, those who cannot match his achievements have resort to name calling and all sort of mudslinging to demean his reputation. Those leading the charge to put a death nail in his coffin are mostly from the Volta Region and only God knows why.

During the campaign leading to the election which saw Mills becoming the president, one Michael Dokosi came up with all sort of nonsense against this man and the funny thing is anytime they "vomit" such nonsense, they expect the man to response. Where is Michael Dokosi and all the allegation he leveled against Nana Addo?
