Firstly, you give the impression that Ghana and largely, Africa is in financial need
Secondly, the whole Scholarship Secretariat and GETFund is in a mess
And yet, you support the idea of Ghana sending people outside to study and want the NUGS ro rise up and fight for students outside.
If you were patriotic, you would have asked the government to abandon or abolish this 419 scheme called- scholarships to study in foreign lands.
WHY?
Since I the time I started my primary school till this time, I am yet to see anyone, just ONE person who was sent to abroad to study and came back to the country on his own to help. So what is the point of wasting money on such people?
Don't get me wrong. I know a some guys who got their scholarship from some institution from Canada and USA and they have finished their courses successfully. They travel around the world and are yet to go home. These people got their scholarship directly from those institution because of their brains. So they can choose whatever they want to do; whether to come home or not.
However, for my personal belief, I don't think the government should spend a pesewa on anyone to go outside and study anything. And this was the reason why I was against the Cuba scholarship. right now, there is no accountability to those we send outside. We don't even know how much the nation spend on each student domicile in foreign states. We don't even know which courses are they taken and yet we keep on spending money. MY GOD. What is wrong with us?
To send anyone to study abroad, we need to put our house in order and that is.
1-No student should be sent out to do any undergraduate course anywhere. Ghana is ripe to give all the courses needed in undergraduate studies.
2- For anyone to do any graduate (masters and PhD studies anywhere, we have to make sure if the course is not being taught in our universities here.
3-For someone to do any graduate studies anywhere, we have to know whether the course or the education would be beneficial to the Nation upon the his return.
4-No student leaves the Nation to do graduate course without being bonded.- And I am serious here... having him to sign a contract to pay 5X of what we spend on him and also making the other Nation (where he is going to study) know about the circumstances why the Nation is sending him.
After these laws have been implemented, then we can talk about your suggestion; how we select and spend on the students who qualify for the scholarship.
Without that-- ABOLISH THE SCHOLARSHIP SECRETARIAT...it is a scam, 419 scheme for the stupid politicians and their families.

THE DOCTOR PULLED OUT SOME PAPER WITH THE STAMP OF "NHIS CO-ORDINATOR, TTH" ON IT, FILLED IT AND ADVISED ME TO COLLECT THE MEDICINE A DRUG STORE IN TOWN!!!!! I THEN REMEMBERED THAT RECENTLY MISSION HOSPITALS REJECTED NHIS CARD-BEARING PATIENTS. LIKE THE GETFUND, THE NHIS HAS ALSO COLLAPSED. MAHAMA AND HIS NDC HAVE REALLY EATEN ALL THE MEAT, ONLY HARD BONES ARE LEFT. NDC THIN-WITTED OAFS, ANY REPLY WITHOUT INSULTS????????????????
