His claims that the NPP is the party of the largest following in Ghana is obviously not true. Else his party won't have been defeated on two consecutive occasions. The only time the NPP was/is able to win elections is when they employed Machiavellian and communists' inferior tactics to cow unsuspecting voters to vote for them. Also, his assertion that the NPP has the men to move the country forward is also neither here nor there. Is Yaw Osafo Marfo part of the men he is boasting about? Was one of the "saints" who negotiated for loans from barbar shops and from the fake IFC? Was he one of their "men" who signed a loan agreemt in Germany without understanding the language in which he signed it? Why would a party which claims to be more democratic stoop that low to engage in the philospphical Groupthink mentality as well as being that intolerant as we see them day-in-day-out spewing out outright insults and attacks on anyone who dares expressing divergent views among them and without? Is it not said after all, that anyone who calls for equity must come with clean hands? Where is the clean hands in the NPP which castigates others while brushing their own dirty internal matters under the rug? Didn't we hear the NPP applauding the likes of Spio Garbra of his infamous Team B article? Did the NPP back Martin Amidu of his attacks on the NDC? Did the NDC suspend any of the two men mentioned above? So why can't the NPP learn from the so-called "intolerant and undemocratic NDC which allowed the two men to criticize their own party? Clearly, the NPP is losing its way, discipline and losing its sense of values and principles thanks to the likes of 'Sir' John and some of the over-exuberant elements of the party's Communication Team, who despise and disparage lifelong party loyalists in public with supercilious contempt for criticising their own party or openly disagree with certain stance of the party.
Sadly, those who succeed in showing absolute disdain for the likes of Mr Kwame Pianim and 'Tarzan' don't appreciate the decades of the their loyalty and hard work for the party. Such 'reactionary intolerance' to dissenting voices shows how childish the party leadership has appeared.

There's a saying that, when the elephants fight, it's the grass that suffers. It's perfectly normal and alright to have dissenting views and opinions, but the question becomes, is there an appropriate forum that has been created to voice out these sentiments and views, without necessarily, resorting to the public gallery? That creates unnecessary drama and in future, it would serve the interest of the grouping right, to address their concerns internally, instead of adopting the rather obnoxious practice of what is observed with some other political grouping of resorting to the public gallery to address their issues. It's just not enough to say that dissenting opinion should be tolerated, but, it should be in the appropriate forum, which if it has not been created, needs to be created now, to foster honest dialogue and discussions. The idea of leaders always running to mouth off issues which should be addressed internally, smacks of gross immaturity and they should know better. Obviously, some of the young ones have been put off by such attitude coming from leaders who should know better and what is being observed, is the venting of their spleen on these leaders albeit in a wrong way. So the advice to these leaders is to get a grip on themselves and jaw-jaw internally to resolve whatever issues they have, instead of groping around in public tearing each other apart and making a laughing stock of themselves.

To address the substantive issue, to all intents and purposes, the matter in question, has to deal with a position the party has taken and in all fairness, if there should be any misunderstanding or ambiguity, the best forum to seek clarification would be from the party. It's just not right to just start shooting off, when one has not completely exhausted all avenues of seeking clarity on an issue from within the party.
It's just only recently that, Adwoa Sawyerr was admonished not to bring their issues into the public, by the contested President. It is also on record that he admonished his ministers to look inwards to address their issues. Now, if such a grouping which hitherto has been playing to the gallery can even think of addressing their concerns internally, then it would be out of character to suggest that, the NPP, would be wrong to hold a different position based on the party's track record. Nobody is asking for a closed door meeting of any kind. However, for the one insinuating and making claims, he is in a perfect place and position to have his concerns addressed in an appropriate manner, unless, for mischief or to play the devil's advocate. The party is one of the most tolerant and doesn't barr anybody from speaking his or her mind, however, it needs to be done within the very context of the party's structures following due processes and procedures, without the needless insults and casting of aspersions, my humble opinion.

The party has a structure that has to be respected. Can you imagine what will happen if every member woke up and started dissenting from everybody? That will be chaos. No human institution can survive such a thinking. People who want to dissent cannot call others names. People who want to dissent attend meeting and voice their opinions at the appropriate platforms. You cannot call it dissention if the first time the party is hearing about your views is in the press just like anybody else. That is crazy! You call it dissention if it is on substance. You can't say it is dissent when people are openly insulting other members of the party members while at the same time praising their opponents. It is called taunting. Nobody will take that.
Above it all, one thing should be clear to people who will like to dissent. Just as they have the right to dissent and use foul language, others too have the same right and can also "dissent" from them in equal measure. You guys should learn to use the party structures and there will be peace for everybody.

When people are not allowed a common forum to discuss their dissenting opinions, they would find another place to do that.
After writing his book, Arthur-k has become an outsider in the Akyem Mafia led party. They insulted and called him names on FM radios and told him to take a hike. If you have listened to Tarzan, you will know that the same thing has happened to him and that is why he is no more going directly to the leaders but going to the Media. He said after spending time preparing in writing what NPP needed to do to win the election, the leaders not only rejected his ideas, but were not ready to allow him to be among them at that time. They told him plainly, they have implemented some of his ideas and are about to implement the others. Just like that; they let him go. So I ask, how do such people voice their opinion to the very people who are not ready to accept them?
Well, I support Arthur-K in writing this publicly. I think it will help the "boys" to think twice before they act stupidly next time. It will also forces the leaders to act urgently to bring sanity in the dying party. NPP will lose if they failed to listen to the wisdom of Arthur-K. They failed to listen to him when he wrote that book, I hope they do not attack him and listen to him this time.
NPP is in emergency department for the stroke its suffered last year. It is still in coma and the earlier its "doctors" put their act together, the better to stop stop the party from dying. The reason is this- The judges will rule in favor of NDC and EC, not because they won, but because of fear of what might happen to our Nation if the ruling goes against the President. So after wasting a year or so to fight for this, they will come back to know that they need only 3 yrs to regroup for another election. This is where the problem begins; Allan Kyerematen would not allow Bawumia to be the head. It would be over his dead body. But the Akyems would not accept Kyerematen to be their head since he has never be on the side of Akufo. Just like the UNC and PFP case, NPP will divide again, this time the Northerners siding with the Akyems against the Ashantis. This is not a prediction, but a prophecy. This is why NPP needs to be closed for repairs as Dole told the GOP.
And when it is closed and "FOR REPAIRS" sign is posted on the door, they might need to change everything about the party. Searching for leadership from other other tribe- GA, Fanti, Northerner or BA man, other than Asante and Akyem should be their number priority. No one should sell this to me that, no better leader could not be found somewhere except from those two tribes. And no one should also tell me that Alan is is a Fante. No, Ghanianians see him as Asante and so will that be. They also need to get rid of the older men and use younger men like Arthur-K. They might also have to star training the polling agents. And these polling agents should be allowed to become delegates and be given a little so that they can't be bought etc..etc.. without that, they are not coming back soon. It is sad, but true.

Arthur Kobina Kennedy, I applaud you on this thoughtful write up. You have summarized what well discerning Ghanaians are concerned about. But I will differ with you by a wide margin on your assertion of who the extreme and violent party really is.
Granted the PNDC and NDC rule were marred in violence and extremism, any honest and observer would attribute such unwarranted actions to the revolutionary zeal that swept the nation in the late 1970s and the 80s.
However the NPP is just continuing the violent and extremist ideas from the 'mate meho' era. The parent party of the present NPP never gave our first president a dog's chance of governing the country in peace. It is the consented opinion of many Ghanaians now that, had Nkrumah not be obstructed Ghana could be enjoying a middle income status by now.
What more the disturbing trend of fires and killings lately are been construed by many objective Ghanaians and international observers as NPP acting truth to their veiled threats of making Ghana ungovernable if they are not in power. Have you noticed since President Mahama tasked the Security agencies to track down the perpetrators of these diabolical acts, that suddenly these arsons and killings had stopped?

I am sure that this petition process has been a very expensive venture, and the way political party issues are handled in Ghana, I will not be surprised if the bulk of the cost has fallen on the main petitioners.
In such a situation, the kinds of comments the people you have menntionned, especially Dr Wereko-Brobby and Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe have made, are not only disrespectful to the National Executive Council of the NPP, but are downright treacherous.
Did you realise what Kuffuor's award of that bogus gold medal to Atta Mills and left out Nana Akufo-Addo innitially did to Nana's campaign?
You see, in the past few years, the actions and inactions of some individauls/sections within the NPP have tended to point to the fact that the split within the Danquah/Busia family that led to Victor Owusu losing the elections of 1979 has never been forgiven. And that is very unfortunate not only for the NPP, but the nation Ghana that has been the overall loser in the incompetence and thievery that has gone in Ghana over the past five years.
