Ghana is for us and failure to address this menace, will disturb our serene atmosphere ten years ahead. Our leaders should make sure to arrest anyone who "fronts" for the Chinese in the sense that the Chinese cannot come to Ghana and go straight into an area and start mining. Ghanaians are part of the problem and till that is done, the solution cannot be a day wonder.

The local chiefs and inhabitants share more of the blame for their lack of foresight and selfishness for compromising the limited possibilities of the indigenous people and allowing Chinese, Russians and Ukrainians to take them cheap for their individual bread and butter at the expense of the community/country.

Mrs Aryee's role as CE of the chamber does not make her 'Galamseyer' importer.
It will take someone with updated knowledge of mining in 2013 Ghana to appreciate her reference to Ahafo, and not Brong-Ahafo.

The real crunch of this matter is that Ms Joyce Aryee was in office when the late Prof Atta Mills promised on the election trail to "legalise galamssey, if elected into office." This he did against all common sense.

Anybody who had travelled in the Obuasi/Bogoso/Tarkwa/Konongo areas, all the way to Akwatia knew then that the practice was destroying not just the lands but all water bodies in these areas.

The saddest part if it all is that after these dirt poor Cinese have returned home as millionaires, it is the poor folks of those areas that are going to suffer.
That is why I still cry for my beloved country!
