Go back and read the article again and be enlightened. And do you understand what it means when someone says " l will f..k your arse. It means he wants to subject you to degradation and humiliation and exploitation. In a sense the act of sleeping with person of same sex is unquestionably repugnant to say the least. Take steps to redeem yourself if you are gay or a sympathizer of homosexuality.

The rage in your article is uncalled for.Your rant is based on simplistic arguments of a warped sense of African culture - which is what? You fail to make a case against what you so terribly abhor because your argument of "We are the original near to perfect biological human beings that God first created on this earth and we wish to remain so – in the divine way he created us in His own image. Can anyone imagine God being a homosexual?"is of "western vintage" and therefore condescending. If you are not ashamed to refer to their Bible as the ultimate text then I suggest the next time you visit Europe, avail yourself of the "state of the spirit" account on issues on homosexuality.
After all the Biblical text is sacrosanct to you.
I will urge you to be tolerant and learn more than to hurriedly pour venom based on your intellectual tyranny and false perceptions of differences in pigmentation on harmless humans.
I don't hold brief for gays but at least I acknowledge my lack of full understanding for their orientation. There are lots we don't know about our world and what could trigger an end to human life is passing off the unknown as fact WHICH IS NOT.

How many of on us this site, came from two men or two women? When Obama accepted the gay nonsense in the US, his own Black Americans were pissed but unable to do anything, they asked God to forgive him.
Who is this man to come to Ghana and lecture us on gay rights? The US is sinking slowly into the gutters due their so-called "unguarded openness". Laws in the US are very strict and adhered to else, the gays in the US will find themselves on the run. Do you see the changing face of the US and that new face, hates the " gay nonsense".

I agree with the writers point about the BNI. In other countries, their intelligence services deal PROACTIVELY with anything that constitutes a threat to the stability of their society or nation.
The scourge of homosexuality is as much of a threat to our society and political establishment as the menace of Al Qaeda, MI6, CIA, Boko Haram, KGB and others are also a threat to other people. And I can assure you that those other people and countries stand up seriously without any let or hindrance against any such threats or moves to infiltrate and cause damage in any way to their countries.
I do not think that the writer was betraying any local political prejudice, tendency or leanings in his last paragraph.
Our dear old BNI, as you may well know, has always behaved like spoilt children no matter what Party is in govt. Instead of paying special attention to the real external threats to national stability, they spend too much time focusing on inconsequential malfeasance of opposition Parties - and I stress again, no matter what govt is in power.
Obviously, in spite of the sinister attempts by heads of state of other countries to implant homosexuality on us by devious means, you still do not share the fear that the seemingly clandestine deployment of homosexuality upon us by alien govts is suspicious and therefore deserves to be qualified as constituting a threat to national stability.
Well, I think differently and I dont understand why if for instance I smoke, I would want to force other people to smoke as well to endanger their health.
Anyway, I also think the article was well written by what to all intents and purposes is an intelligent person. It is comforting to know that we have in our midst, people who can in difficult times, carry high the national flag against adversity.

Obroni, I strongly suspect that you really are an Obroni because you sound like one.
Nevertheless, let me tell you that no matter how successful or rich one is, if you are inflicted by a scourge such as homosexuality, all your wealth will come to nothing - in fact your position in society will be worse than someone who does not have anything at all. You will live in shame, disgrace, fear and isolation. You will have no respect from decent society and all or any self-esteem that you may have will be tarnished and wiped away with disrepute.
Another truth that may have escaped you is that, all govts rob their people. The only difference is that we over here make a lot more noise about it whilst in other so-called developed countries, the people are too dumb to voice out their opinions, particularly when they are compromised by the crumbs that fall off the tables of the rich and wealthy politicians and their criminal sponsors in big business.
However what we will not countenance is the greater and more massive robbery of our national wealth by foreign entities through corrupt local politicians.
The Chinese are not a greater threat to our sovereignty than homosexuals and their foreign bed-mates. In fact no matter how bad some Chinese are behaving in this country, the fact remains that China is pumping much more money into this country than those bed-mates of homosexuals who have been freely stealing our resources for over 300 years.
Obroni, dont even try distract our attention from the sensitive sore subject of homosexuality because it wont work. We will deal with it - and we will do so effectively in our own way.

Very good article apart from the insults.
Your point that, IF all mankind become homosexuals, human race will cease is a valid point, but note that it only IF ALL.
Also black minority and homosexuality have nothing in common, as one is colour and the other sexual orientation, but the treatment that black people were subjected in the past appears to have something in common to what homosexuals are going through now. Such as having the right to insult someone because the person has a different view.
So as Oliver Cromwell said: "I beseech you, in the bowels of Christ, think it possible that you may be mistaken".

Thanks for your mail. I got back to Tampa yesterday and I have just started to review some of the public reactions to what was an aspect of a broader analyses I made on the topic of my informal seminar as a fellow of the International Institute for Advanced Studies. I spoke from scribbled notes that only I can decipher. But, in view of the reactions that my talk triggered, I plan to actually put my thoughts into an article to be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal. I posed four questions and attempted to answer them:
1. What are Human Rights?
2. What are the problems, debates, dilemmas or tensions that human rights discourse have generated in some African countries (including Ghana)?
3. What have been the consequences (negative and positive) of these Human Rights-induced tensions?
4. How can these tensions be resolved to promote social and economic development in Ghana, in particular, and Africa, generally?
I used human rights discourse on two vulnerable groups to address these questions: women’s rights and the rights of sexual minorities. It is interesting that the press report on my talk ignored what I said about women’s rights under the topic and the sophisticated analyses I offered about “human rights”; “dignity” and “social order.” The report also ignored the balanced and nuanced analyses I made.
I made the point that in the 21st Century no nation can function without adequate guarantees of human rights to its citizens and non-citizens. In discussing, theoretically, the concepts of dignity and social order, I observed that while recognition of the intrinsic worth of every human being is the essence of human rights, it is on this issue of ”Dignity” and its relationship to human rights that opinions continue to be dangerously divided in Africa. I argued that in countries such as Cameroon, Malawi, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria and Ghana, for instance, sections of officialdom, and even the general public, seem to hold the understandable view that no social order can endure when individuals and groups are permitted to do what they wish. They believe that on matters of rights, crime and sexuality, the rights of individuals or groups should be subordinated to the moral values of the larger society of which these individuals and groups are a part. That unregulated human rights, on matters of sexuality, constitute a form of moral license, deviance or perversion, that can threaten the very social order that nations exist to build. That there should be clear lines drawn between Dignity and Decency and humanness and humaneness. That there are ideas of dignity that are rooted in the cultures, values and traditions of particular nations in the global system.
I made these observations to integrate the conceptual debates over global human rights and local cultural relativism into my talk. It was a sophisticated talk.
But, I also observed that there are scholars and analysts, like me, who have mixed views about what we often present as “African culture” or “Ghanaian traditions.” After all, no pluralist or multicultural society on the African continent today has a common, uniform, homogenous or distinctive culture or national tradition. I noted that the dilemmas and debates over Human Rights for sexual minorities, for example, have often descended into moralizing discourses by church leaders, and some members of the general public, over sin and redemption, and political posturing by some politicians in Africa eager to score self-serving political points about the “superiority” of African values over the “inferiority” of global human rights standards.
I told the audience, a full auditorium, that a diverse Africa should tolerate and embrace diversity in all its forms. That on issues such as women’s rights and rights of sexual minorities that are becoming global or transnational, Africans cannot articulate a concept of moral uniqueness or sexual exceptionalism. That, today, groups with particular sexual orientation are recognized as legitimate groups whose human rights should be respected. I called on African scholars, myself included, to do more research on the history of sexuality in Africa in order to bring some analytical and empirical clarity to the myth that Africans have remained unchanged, since time immemorial, as heterosexual and monogamous in their sexual preferences and expressions and that homosexuality is a Western importation into Africa.
The vile and vitriolic, and sometimes unreflective, reactions to my balanced and nuanced discussion on “Human Rights and the Debates Over Dignity and Social Order” underscore the need for more research and sane discussions on sexuality and sexual diversity in Africa. I strongly believe, as a heterosexual, married male (some blokes who have reacted to my talk taught I am gay) that our humanity is measured by the stand we take in defense of the rights of the vulnerable. It was not popular to defend the dignity and humanity of a Black person in the American South, in the 1950s, and it was unpopular to defend the dignity and humanity of Jews in Nazi Germany, in the 1930s. I am aware of these patterns of prejudice in our human history. As a historian, I am aware of the complexities of difference and I am NOT prepared to remain indifferent to difference.
The prof is an ass.
