Yaw, why are you afraid to use that sacred word timid? Afraid man! It is the only appropriate phrase to use to describe what we are all witnessing in court.
You remind me of a story about a boy who went on an errand to a kobokobo shop and, in his typical polite manner, requested: "Store Wura, my mum sent me to buy 'sebe' nkyene five hundred, 'sebe' mako two hundred, 'sebe' koobi thousand". An elderly man who had also gone to the shop to buy his tobacco interrupted the boy thus: "Akwasi Mpretwum, it is not every word that we use 'sebe' for. We use the word in such instances as 'sebe' wo na n'anim pimples, 'sebe' w'agya se a aporor, 'sebe' wo nana n'ekyi wirewire ser akyekyer’ n’ekyir".
For this our president, sometimes one wonders what he is made of. In the heat of the elections which are now in dispute, he was reported to have recommended to the EC and the whole nation: "People should be allowed to vote even if they cannot be verified by the biometric machines". It is for this reason that Afari Gyan is still insisting in one voice that all voters were verified and at the same time confusing himself by claiming in another tone that there was nothing wrong to wave a chief on to vote without verification. Probably Mr Mahama forgot that being the president the nation, his words carried enough weight to disrupt the elections as it is being claimed happened. Or more probably, he forgot that he was the president of the country and should not be heard making unguarded statements. This latest statement seems to suggest that he is now so arrogant he does not respect the laws of the land, just like the likes unlawyer Amekudzi who cannot separate the presidency from the candidacy of the president so far as the elections and the follow-up petition go.
Mr Ma’ma’s recent statement is pure contempt of court, because he is a player in the proceedings at court. He must be called to order, else he will be inflaming the already charged atmosphere in the country. Most of the die-hard NDC foot soldiers are of the opinion that because the president has been duly sworn in, he is above all the laws of the land, and that the outcome of the court case cannot affect his presidency. Rather than educating them otherwise, the president is only reinforcing their warped thinking, putting the outcome of the court case in jeopardy: if the nine judges should decide the case against the respondents, these foot soldiers could end up bringing about death and destruction before long. Untimid judges, we are all watching you.

Remember this; the same Dr Afari Djan and the EC that you are vilifying today proclaimed two wins for the ungrateful NPP yesterday. ANNUL 4.6 million votes for the twice loser Akufo Addo to be President, because that is the only way the disgraceful NPP can impose this man on Ghanaians. (For where-ya? Asked my friend the Ibo man). You can spin it all you want, your opinion will never be fact. Hei Al, you think Mr. Awuah's opinion is stupid. However, you made a point that the same Afari Djan and the EC proclaimed two wins for the UNGRATEFUL NPP which means that Afari Djan stole the two elections for NPP. By the way do we have to let this election malpractices go on without instituting right policies to avoid this quagmire the country is in which had made it impossible for Mr. Mahama to stamp his authority in his administration?
Mr. Awuah's point is very clear that Mr.Mahama should have not made that comments when this election case is before the Supreme Court. One way or the other he is fomenting a dangerous path between NDC and NPP supporters for a possible show down irrespective of where the verdict goes.
I think he should stay neutral and quiet and let the SC hear the arguments and come with their ruling. Should he come victorious, I will wish him to craft a healing message to the entire country and not what he is spewing now.
If you had listen to CNN or other major new media of late about a USA citizen who works for NASA who had reveal secrecy about US Government tapping on citizen's phone, e-mails and other records. When the President's Press Secretary was asked by News Media about his or White House knowledge in the case - Mr. Carney said whilst the case is in the hands of investigators he cannot make comment about it. Exactly this is what Mr. Mahama should have done. Remember that his Deputy Communication Member - Mr. Kwakye had come to the air to bet his life with the outcome of the verdict which will be in favor of Mr. Mahama. I am not surprise to acknowledge your point that since Afari Djan rightly or wrongly proclaimed two wins for UNGRATEFUL NPP that is why he has again in his own wisdom done for GRATEFUL NDC Party. Counsel for the petitioner is struggling to prove irregularities, malpractices and fraud of any kind. The mere mention of fraud gets him jumpy to object.
The NPP lost the Parliamentary elections. So the conjecture that Mahama 'stole" the elections only lies in the fickle minds of people in Tepa-Ashanti who did not have the chance to register themselves umpteen times. There are people in the NPP who are glad that Akuffo Addo lost. He just did not win the elections. And the Supreme Court will not DECLARE him President.

I further (solemnly)swear (solemnly affirm) that should I at any time break this oath of office, I shall submit myself to the laws of TROG and suffer the penalty for it(So help me God)".
The president of the Republic of Ghana is the president of all ghanaians, both members of his own party and everyone else. Though cited as a respondent in the election petition he's still the president and first gentleman. When he made comments about the election petition which is still in court he stopped being our president at that very hour. At that very moment his utterances did not reflect the will and aspirations of the people of Ghana. Those comments were very unpresidential and absolutely unnecessary. His language was very divisive and he undermined the very constitution he swore to preserve, protect and defend at all times. We can argue that when he made the comments he was not dedicating himself to the service and well-being of the people of TROG and he wasn't doing right to to all manner of persons as he alluded to in his oath swearing. He was dedicating himself instead to the service and well-being of the people of the NDC, and neither was he heard doing right to all manner of persons except those of the NDC. JDM needs to apologize to the entire nation for bringing that high office into disrepute.By his comments he has prepared the minds of his party followers for victory. Does he already already know what the decision is going to be? What if the decision goes in favor of the NPP? Doesn't he know that he has sown the seeds of wrath and discontentment and set the stage for chaos and disorder?JDM can be impeached for his comments so he and the NDC should not call our bluff. An apology is the least we can ask of him.

Good or bad, right or wrong, President Mahama made the remarks based on credible assessments.
Here are a few:
1. The SC has no power to elect the president of Ghana. They can only refer the case back to the EC for correction or re-voting in case there is evidence of massive fraud. But due to several reasons including funding and possible chaos, such a scenario is unlikely regardless of the magnitude of evidence. Even if it does happen, and if the EC is made up of a bunch of untrustworthy thugs, then one can expect them to repeat the same mantra.
2. If it is true that Dr. Raymond Akongburo Atuguba, the Executive Secretary to President Mahama, is a relative of Justice Atuguba, then would it not be very unlikely, if not highly impossible, for Justice Atuguba and his colleagues to decide otherwise even in the face of overwhelming evidence? As you know in Ghana, one good turn deserves another.
3. Akans are the most disunited people in the country. They are united among their various (sub)tribes only. The Ashantis for instance, are wary of a win by Akufo-Addo since he is close to another throne they consider to be their rival. They fear that his victory would help elevate the throne. That was also part of the reason why former president Kuffour tried to push his brother to be the presidential candidate in place of Akufo-Addo.
4. The international community is generally comfortable with Mahama,a conciliatory technocrat just a bit different from late Atta-Mills.
5. U.S. and the west generally do not trust Akufo-Addo. For instance, it is believed that he planned/plans to renegotiate to possibly increase Ghana's current 10% share in the oil/petroleum agreement in the event that he becomes the President. This does not go well with them.
---
The NPP generally made a mistake for allowing the train to pass by before beginning to run after it. If they were sure of their allegation of irregularities and fraud, they should have approached the case more vigorously and even taken a more logical step of blocking the inauguration of the president-elect until the case was resolved. From objective logical point of view, even with quantum efforts, the only likely scenario is that the case may help to address "some" of the elections malpractices.
