But the unfortunate thing is that, the address system in Ghana has been part of the problem. One cannot trace the "run away" boy friend or husband. The addressing system is a big problem for any government. Social problems is another sad issue for our young men and women accross Ghana and all for the reason that there is no job for them.

A prof. in the US is one of such. You know who, writes rubbish.
Kwasi suggest this to your local MP, and who knows, you'd be the first CSA manager, but please make sure your hands are clean.

Fact is, both the ruled and the rulers are backward! That is our disaster, to have a ruling elite who are not better in thinking and action than the ruled. You see, there is no real avant garde elite in Ghana, and the so-called intelligentsia in the mold of what the colonial milieu bred, the likes of Kobina Sekyi, Hutton Mills, Casely Hayford, J.B. Danquah and above all, Nkrumah, are no longer produced by our educational system. You only get PhDs who hold seances and deliverance ceremonies from imagined generational curses for students and the public while the people wallow in moral decay and unmitigated corruption and lawlessness! Their social relevance is how they set us back socially! As the Wikileaks reports rightly show, they have no empathy whatsoever for the weak, similar to what the white elite have for the poor and weak.
Kwasi, thanks for being different from the mold.

My feelings entirely. I was thinking the same even watching the nuances of the judges on the NPP petition. The sophistication you would expect at that level of elite doesn't come across. Not a lot of difference in the 'them and us' as you would find in civilised societies. In civilised societies the elites pull up or along ' the great unwashed' ala 'enlightenment'but with ours no differences in the two, simply the next person is just as bad as the other in ignorance and irrationalism!

Brother Gyan-Appenteng,
You have written to throw light on a very common but unjust occurrence in our social fabric.
The call for action is both just and long overdue.

Deadbeat parents is a worldwide phenomenom common to both sexes but it's prevalent among men.Locally,it's even more prevalent among ghanaian men and dates as far back as the beginning of time.Especially among the matrilineal inheriting Akan tribe deadbeat parenting is not just a common everyday occurence but it's so perverse that it's hardly frowned upon.It has become a sub culture.
In the US and other western democracies absentee dads are required by law to pay child support until the child turns 18. We can pass such a law in Ghana but what's its chance of success? Not really bright. The law could end up as irrelevant and impracticable as every other law.We might end up with more problems than we began with. In Ghanaland, the problem is not the insufficiency of laws but it's the presence of a culture that has no or little regard for law enforcement. The system is corrupt to the core and the law enforcers are all the time susceptible to influence. C'est la vie!
We can still do something about dead beat parents. In some places the authorities garnish child support monies directly from the pay of delinquents. I don't know what lessons we can learn from those countries with some respectable success rates that will help us but when we have the will we'll find the way to accomplish anything. It's so refreshing to know that some ghanaians are thinking about this problem.Until now I thought we had become desensitized to the problem and nobody really cared.Thank God for men like Kwasi Gyan[Apenteng.
