  Your Idea is not Bad at except that compulsory Military service will sound a bit awkward in a democratic country.
  
  It should rather be opened to those who wish to a military service without necessary being compulsory.

  Nationalisation is not a good idea. Our public institutions have a reputation for bad management and dishonest practices -- bribery, corruption, and outright thievery. Perhaps a better course of action would be for the government to acquire majority shares (51%) in all private firms within select industries, such as oil and gas. The continued involvement of private companies is crucial as it would serve to minimise the bad practices that we Ghanaians are so notoriously fond of.

  Nationalisation is not a good idea. Our public institutions have a reputation for bad management and dishonest practices -- bribery, corruption, and outright thievery. Perhaps a better course of action would be for the government to acquire majority shares (51%) in all private firms within select industries, such as oil and gas. The continued involvement of private companies is crucial as it would serve to minimise the bad practices that we Ghanaians are so notoriously fond of.

  Your PDC/WDC or whatever did nothing for Ghana. JJ ruled for at least two decades and what prevented him from turning the nation into a "paradise"? Commonsense is common but not common to all including JJ.
  
  You cite US and other nations and my question to you is why do the sons of some top politician in the US, at times have wavers from being drafted into the national service?
  
  Look at Switzerland. That nation has no military and it is one of the peaceful nation on the planet and the question is why?
  
  For a nation to develop, it requires to things; TRUTH AND THE RULE OF LAW. Without these two things, Ghana will be dragging her feet for eons of years with no end in site.

  The question then, is how we must achieve that discipline. I will argue that the saturation of churches, mosques and schools in Ghana/Africa has not achieved this. This then calls for a rethink. I suggest my ideas are valuable.
