Bill O'Reilly went on a rant against the Supreme Court's rulings on gay marriage cases Monday night on "The O'Reilly Factor," culminating in a shouting match with two Fox analysts.

O'Reilly tied the court's decision to overturn the Defense of Marriage Act and vacate California's Proposition 8 with with last year's decision to uphold President Obama's healthcare law, claiming that both cases were evidence that "the Supreme Court has morphed into a political organization, not a body that seeks to uphold the Constitution."

O'Reilly added that he did not aim to discriminate, but that "the gay marriage issue should be decided by each state."

Analysts Juan Williams and Mary Katharine Ham joined to discuss the issue, and Williams incurred O'Reilly's wrath when he argued that Roberts "made a decision based on what he thought was in the political best interest of the court." That drew table-banging response from the Fox host, who shouted, "But that's not his job! That's not his job, Juan!"

The above is Bill O'Reilly's reaction to the recent ruling of the Supreme Court of the USA on gay marriage. He wasn't cited for contempt.

To no one's surprise, these right-wing hate mongers like the Family Research Council's Tony Perkins aren't taking it very well now that the Supreme Court has ruled against them in the DOMA and Prop 8 cases.

The Supreme Court’s rulings on the Defense of Marriage Act and California’s Proposition 8 were “disappointing” decisions that “dragged ‘we the people’ from behind the wheel of this republic and carjacked the nation,” Family Research Council president Tony Perkins said on CBS’ Face The Nation Sunday.

Perkins argued that the Prop 8 case represented a “silver lining” for anti-equality conservatives, since the Court did not “impose same-sex marriage on the entire nation.” Nevertheless, he predicted that the rulings were dangerous decisions that will terrify Americans once they learn the true consequences of marriage equality.

“Americans will begin to see that with same-sex marriage does not come a hope chest, rather a Pandora’s box,” Perkins said. “We’ll see parents who pay taxes to send their kids to school, those schools are going to start teaching those children values that are in contrast with their parents. We’re already seeing bakers and florists and photographers forced to participate in same-sex marriages under the threat of law and in some cases even jail!” Read on...

I would just like to give a short comment to these facts and comments made on this article,no where has Bill said the coourt was or is hypocritical or even selective, america is now going on a road that i dont think we ghanaians should dare to even go close to, whatever the s/c in Ghana did i believe is the best interest for Ghana and that is what matters, also we should know that the court only used the daily guard as an example and just an example only, they did not rule anything against anyone so there is no point for anyone say they are hypocrite for that and much more poke their nose on them as Ken was trying to do before he then came around to apologize. I just want to say this to my fellow Ghanians to understand that the constisution of Ghana and the Supreme Court is only there to do what is good for us Ghanians. And besides that, they drew a line from the 25th of June and want each and everyone, that anyone or any person to abuse the court system. Whatever happened before that is the past and as a matter of fact, we all need to respect and show true respect the supreme court of our land. And to my fellow MPPs, we need to understand that we send our case to the same court and we have to show respect for others also to follow in our path. So to me, Ken Kurakye is not a hero as others have put him out to be and have compared him to Mandela, that is a wrong road we should not go on. We need to fight the real good fight, to make ghana a better place for NDC, for MPP, for independent and for every Ghanian. I believe MPP, most of us, understand that and we do have the best men with good understanding of our economy and how to make it right. So please, let us remember that and pray that at the end the same court, the Supreme Court, will see our evidence and then rule the case on our behalf and from there, we will be able to lead Ghana to the better and the prosperous nation.

Looks like you are back at saying they deserve respect because they are the "s/c." Note that the institution itself is not the same as the judges.

Also, even if the NPP does not believe in the panel of judges, they still would have to go through the process, kick the tire, so to speak, this being a historic process for the parties and Ghana, won't you agree.

Therefore, it is how the "s/c" behaves and concludes, that is greatly important. From what we've been following, looks like they are failing miserably.

That will be the verdict of history, we are sorry to forecast. After all, a judge cannot take offence for being labelled "mere" or "hypocritical" outside the courtroom by a citizen who has absolutely no case pending before that judge.

Mr. Mandela would be restrained. That is our opinion!

Just looking on when judges are criminizing free speech will lead us into captivity in our own country. Ken Kuranchie's crime is that he held the "opinion" that Sammy Awuku's comment was right. In my opinion, the supreme court was wrong to arrest, prosecute and jail Ken Kuranchie. Have I committed contempt by holding the view that the supreme court got it wrong?

Why did Justice Jones Dotse need to explain that the "singling out" of the Daily Guide was not selectivity but a way of giving an example?

Instead of jailing Ken Kuranchie, Justice Atuguba could have spent a little bit of time telling ghanaians why using the daily guide, a newspaper perceived to be sympathetic to the opposition, did not amount to selectivity. At least Justice Dotse saw the need to do that in open court.

IN ALL THE INSTANCES CITED THERE HAD NOT BEEN A PRIOR NOTICE SERVED AS THE SC HAD DONE IN THIS CASE. DONT FORGET IN KENYA THE COURTS HAD ISSUED GUIDELINES BEFORE THE COURT PROCESS.

Freedom does not by stand by itself in any part of the world.It is always accompanied by responsibilities. Unfettered speech only leads to chaos and the jungle.And these media folks know it(Remember Rwanda?).

All democratic countries (US.,CANADA,EU AND AUSTRALIA)have some modicum of restrictions on free speech.Even our own traditions restrict obnoxious and disrespectful language,and culprits are penalized. Can someone from the media in Ghana attack the Asantehene and his chiefs while they're deciding a case at Manhyia?

Its all about circumspection in addressing them whether praising them or criticizing them. I wonder if ANY deviation from the expected respectability and circumspection warrant diversion from what is at stake, focusing on the Election case and hauling the culprit to prison after heavy dose of apologies have been demanded and squeezed out of the "offender". I have no problem with the obvious; the recalcitrant and plain war-drumming beaters with statements that can plunge the nation into war. The Law must handle them accordingly. But by their actions lately they are pulling down the thick and disturbing cloud of pure intimidation and unproductive silence on Ghanaians! I think they should not hide behind the proverbial Ghanaian awe for elders and consequent respectability to send us back to the dark days in brutal fear and silence! We must resist that and let them know they are not tin gods! Being humans as we all are they are bound to make mistakes and so should not expect people to praise them for that! But if they will continue to intimidate critics by using the "power" vested in them to bully us and haul us to the court and jail us then where lies the difference between them and the military style of dictatorship?
