  We are thinkinkg, even if someone said " “if the Supreme Court decides for Nana Akufo-Addo, I would support a coup d’etat” and “if the NPP wins the court case, there will be civil war”," those are not statements for the Supreme Court to act on. Those are pribably statements for Police and possibly, CID, all initially acting independently, to evaluate and act on with great care, for precisely the reason you mention, "freedom of expression."

  Please Mr. Nkrumah, stop miseducating your ignorant, "yente gyae" NPP fanatics. It isn't Justice Atugubah who per se is punishing any culprit fouling the SC; it's rather a collective and unanimous decision coming from the Nine Justices of the Supreme Court which has made Mr. Atuguba their president and thus a spokesperson of the SC. Did you hear any of the Justices dissenting yesterday when Kenneth Kuranchiem and Atugbiga were being sentenced? Did you hear any of the Justices dissenting when Justice Atuguba announced the court's decision when he issued the crossing line "fatwa?" last week? Please, let's be honest with ourselves and stop singling out the man for castigation due to sheepish and narrow political worldview.

IN DOING SO THE CRITICS HAVE CREATED THE IMPRESSION THAT ALL DECISIONS BY THIS PANEL ARE GOING TO BE MADE BY JUSTICE ATUGUBA. THE TRUTH IS THAT EVEN IF HE WANTED TO DO SO, JUSTICE ATUGUBA CANNOT MAKE THE COLLECTIVE DECISION FOR THE PANEL. HE HAS ONLY ONE VOTE ON ANY GIVEN ISSUE JUST AS EVERY OTHER JUSTICE ON THE PANEL AND AS WE HAVE ALREADY SEEN ON SOME SENSITIVE ISSUES THE OTHER JUSTICES MAY CARRY THE DAY AND JUSTICE ATUGUBA MAY FIND HIMSELF IN THE MINORITY. THE CAMPAIGN BY THE NPP TO DISCREDIT JUSTICE ATUGUBA IS ANOTHER PLOY BY THE NPP LEADERSHIP TO PREPARE THE MINDS OF ITS SUPPORTERS TO REJECT THE VERDICT OF THE SUPREME COURT IF FAILS TO WIN ITS PETITION AND TO LAY THE BLAME FOR SUCH FAILURE SQUARELY AT THE FEET OF JUSTICE ATUGUBA.

  Tsikata is happily in his bed at the moment enjoying his wife; where is Kenneth-the-vulture-Kuranchie now? Miserably languishing in jail! Ooops, jairbird-Ex-con Ken Kuranchie will eat gari and salt for breakfast this morning, as compared to Tsikata's toasted egg, fine and original Ghana cocoa milo and slices of bread and butter to match, before heading for the court.

  It appears that the author of this piece has not been listening closely to what the justices of the Supreme Court have been saying. It is true that before the Supreme Court gave its FINAL WARNING and drew the line in the sand, other individual had made reckless statements which could have warranted sanction by the Supreme Court. But the justice decided not to sanction those statements made be the final warning, because to punish those earlier statement would have amounted to retroactive punishment. Instead the court decided to clamp down on reckless statements made after it issued the final warning. That is why Sammy Awuku was brought before the court since he described the justices as hypocritical after the final warning. However the court set him free after he apologised for his indiscretion but warned all and sundry that it would not tolerate any further infractions. So for the author to insinuate that the court was being partial by not punishing those statement which were made before the final warning, shows fundamental ignorance of the rationale stated by the court before Sammy Awuku appeared before the court and after his appearance.
