They are so useless that the scholars among them cannot even write books not to talk of creating jobs. This is how far our useless university education has brought us.

I am not surprised. I have encountered such problems many times in Ghana. To be honest with you, if I was not tired of living outside in Amsterdam all these years I will not have anything to do with Ghana. You think this is bad? Try going to a Ghanaian court. Then you may hate Ghana to the point where you may not want to go there again. Ghanaians in Ghana are scarred stiff of those of us who have lived here and have been educated here, and had economic success here. They want us out of the system but we are the ones who are savvy enough to be able to move the country where it needs to go.
Oh yes, some of them studied here. It is one thing to study here, and another to live here, work here, and understand the processes that makes these developed countries run!

A Ghanaian citizen is identified by "his or her" Ghanaian Passport (in this case there are approximately 15 million Ghanaians citizens residing in Ghana as of 2013, and approximately 4 million Ghanaians citizens residing outside of Ghana as of 2013, bringing the total number of Ghanaians citizens on planet "Earth" to approximately 19 million Ghanaians citizens in the "World"). Ghanaians citizens are identified by their "Ghanaian Passport" as proof of their "Ghanaian Citizenship" and not by a "Birthcertificate" or "ID Card".
The Republic of Ghana should immediately make any person with another passport (dual citizenship) like anybody possessing a Canadian Passport or American Passport immediately have their Ghanaian Passport and citizenship "Stripped" and "Renounced" from them immediately.
There are 10 million "Illegal Immigrants" inhabiting the Republic of Ghana as of 8th July 2013.

You are so ignorant it's not funny. These days and age, countries are allowing dual citizenship in one form or other and the benefits are numerous and varied. Now, a passport is a travel document first and identity document second. In Canada, if you are a citizen of Canada, YOU DON'T NEED a passport to enter Canada, period! So to impute that only passport holders are citizens or can be considered as citizens is too shallow. In fact, how many Ghanaians have a Ghanaian passport? Of the 25 mil citizens of Ghana, may be only 5% have passports. Does it mean that only 1.5 mil or so can be considered Ghanaians? And writer, even though you did a good job some omissions are dangerous. You don't become a citizen of Canada becasue you live in Canada for three years. You have to be a permanent resident who has spent an equivalent of 3 years (some exceptions apply) in Canada.

The writer is making a case out of nothing. ARE YOU A GHANAIAN? stupid question, The lady shouted in her native dialect to indicate she was a Ghanaian. But at that instance she was holding allegiance to another nation and as such the GIA man was right to let her know her stand. Let's say a natural disaster (hope not really) struck Ghana ,she will hurriedly fly out to leave the indigenous to their fate. Dual citizenship is absolutely not the right way. If you are tired of an acquired nationality just denounce it at the appropriate time and take back whole your born nationality.

No water, not constant electricity, minimal roads, but we spend money on carnivals, we supply other nations with constant electricity. Countries that are poorer than our own. We have left our selves open and deserving of criticism and if your are proud of the current rate of development, then stand proud and take the criticism.

Ghana lost an oportunity at Rawlings, first coming in 1979 (but there was no change)- Why? all bcos of such attitudes. Can it change? I have my reservations. Probably, a Civil war, an earthquake of mass proportions, a disaster of calamitous proportions, most acceptabley, The wrath of God and the restoration of Wisdom, respect for Humans and Human suffering, and sensible living, through honest acquisition of wealth.

This is a provocative cliche of Customs and Immigration Officials to extort money from travellors. With regards to the level of intelligence of the enquirer, my advice is for you to say yes or no and move on. The ordeal emigrants and home bound immigrants go through can only be dealt with by appropriate education. The appointees at most border posts are not appropriately qualified nor trained. wealth from bribes makes them more quilled liked porcupines. do not waste time on them. It can only change from qualified appointments and appropriate training.

I have continued to argue that the government should not be able to take anyone's citizenship from him/her unless there is a benefit to Ghana as a whole and so far no one has shown that it benefits Ghana. I will say that it rather hurts Ghana.
