This is a very disjointed article and I have wasted my time trying to read it. Ghanaweb should do a better job vetting articles before they are posted on the web. It is not clear what this gentleman was trying to say here but to have wasted space and time on such as poorly constructed article makes me wonder why he announces such nonsense with a lot of promise.

To me you,ve not written anything worthy.Why?if someone has dual citizenship and there is a problem like the one in Egypt for eg.One has to register with one of the passport s.If Germany is coming for their citizens,you only need to produce your German passport.In other hand, if it is your other country that is evacuating its citizens,you only need to produce their passport.What is so confusing abt this?It has got nothing to do with dual citizenship.

if a canadian Migrant got a nationality Status in Egypt, in situation like this s/he can cancil the egypt citizenship Status and go back to Canada

so there is no danger at all in applying for dual nationality.

let us also put it in this way for your better understanding.

4 eg.-
asuming two children were Born in egypt- to a canadian parent one decided to apply for dual citizenship and the other Person did not.

which one of them can get alternative to live if the war intensifies and killing become the order of the day?

presumably the one who had dual citizenship had an instant opportunity to fly to Canada while the other Person may be strugling to seek asylum in Canada or elswhere.

if snowden who is now wanted in America had a dual citizenship with other Country he would have not been stranded in his hideout trying to seek asylum whose application had been turned down by many countries at an instant

There is not a single passport in the world that indicates dual citizen of two countries. When the need arises you dont go and say i am this or that. You just produce the necessary document to proof who you are. No brainer.

Mr Stephen Quaye, please do not mislead Ghanaweb readers. In the two examples you gave, what made you conclude that those who had dual (Canadian and Ghanaian) citizenship were excluded? If any dual citizen went the the Canadian Embassy in Cairo holding a Canadian, s/he would be treated as Canadian. Your article is very misleading.

Yes, there are advantages and disadvantages of holding dual citizenship but the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages, therefore stop advising people against dual citizenship. You are doing more harm than good.

For example, a Ghanaian with dual citizenship (Ghana and Canada) who is in Egypt will have the advantage of receiving protection from both embassies, whichever is nearer and safer to reach. In times of serious security threat, s/he has the advantage of going to the nearest and most secured Embassy. For example, if the Canadian Embassy is the nearest but dangerous to reach because of armed conflict or serious fighting around the area, then s/he could go to Ghana Embassy even if the route in longer but it is safer to get there.

You are ignorant of the subject matter of your article and you should not have written about a subject that you know less about.

If I was fortunate enough to have both Ghanaian and Canadian passports it wouldn't take me a second to decide which of the two countries' advice I should follow. I'll surely be a Canadian in this instance for the simple reason that Ghana's record in evacuating its citizens from foreign countries does not compare at all with that of Canada. And that is the issue at stake with dual citizenship - getting the best possible outcome for oneself.

Say for instance I traveled to Ghana with a Ghanaian Passport and there is a national uproar or disturbance which threatens life, will I be a fool to carry my Ghanaian passport to the American Embassy or I will just present my US passport card or National ID? You need wisdom where you lack it but others will not reason like you.
