  Merely occupying the top spot in Ghana’s political realm should not guarantee awards. Presidents or leaders’ performance in office and thereafter should be the measuring stick for bestowing awards. Both Koku Anyidoho and Abdulai Alahassan are fundamentally wrong in their assumption that the post mortem awards bestowed on Atta Mills emanates from the masses. Such phony aggrandizements are usually performed by the deceased’s peers and colleagues. Such ceremonies are done by the elite who belonged to the same league with the dead one. Trooping to such ceremonies is primarily dictated by long standing societal orthodoxies and NOT because the deceased leader endeared himself to the masses. Describing our so-called leaders as heroes neglects the obvious balkanization created through their insatiable love of power. Calling our leaders heroes is a stretch of the word. Our leaders have proven to be LIARS who worsen situations they inherited by creating venal grounds for their lackeys to exploit. Whiles in power or life, our leaders have a forte; creating asphyxiating rules to smother their opponents and the public at large. Honestly, I don’t think our leaders deserve any awards. They are vicious dividers. Awards should be earned not given on a silver platter.
