Kwesi - I think you meant 'ciao' as opposed to 'chao'? My liitle contribution to your Italian language use. I certainly concur with your sentiments that certain articles on Ghanaweb border on sensationalism, but hey, that should not let us admonish the writers. You are right in calling them to book to spell-check etc. Here in the UK you see and read awful grammar both in oprint media and on the tv so Ghana journalists on those posting articles on Ghanaweb are not unique in the matter. Looking forward to more posts on educative issues affecting Ghana from you.

Thank you for the breath of fresh air. Ghanaweb continues to be one of my top favourites. Recently, through the court case and other national news/issues, it has become polluted with propagandistic views, writings, and half truths and point blank lies. I commend you for your ethics and discerning topic today. keep up the great work. One day, it is my hope to have in place a regulations and standardised procedures on Ghanaweb and similar online news outlets for "wanna be" journalist and writers whom the education system have failed.

1. How do you know your fans on ghanaweb are "numerous"? How did you come to that terminology? Your head sweet you too much. Na u yourself tink sey get plenty fans. You didn't arrive at that by any objective measure.
2. Is it only today that you know that articles on ghanaweb are poorly written with a lot of grammatical mistakes? Wetin sef? You think sey ghanaweb na salon.com abi na huffingtonpost.com? Those who write to ghanaweb are not professional journalists. Don't expect anything better than you see on ghanaweb. The webmaster posts every and any article he receives. The result is what you get on ghanaweb. If you don't like it, press your "Exit" button!
3. Good for you to think that the journalists of the past are better than today's journalists. It is very easy for you to think that "brilliant" Ghanaians existed only in your generation or when you were young. That's a big lie. Brilliant Ghanaians are randomly distributed temporally. The population is now bigger. It is presumptuous to think all of them are dunderheads. There were bad journalists even during the "good old days" just as there are good journalists even today. What you see today is a proliferation of media outlets as a result of how cheap it is to create them. The good journalists are not enough to go round all of them. It is not a matter of falling standards.
4. There is absolutely no need for this article. You have been writing very regularly these past few months and there is absolutely no need for you to apologize to your "numerous" fans for not being regular. Nobody expects anything from you on a regular basis and nobody pays you for writing to ghanaweb.

Cousin,
First I need to congratulate you on presenting a brief and concise article that's straight to the point without the insipid personal anecdotes that often mar your ideas.
Next comes my critique so get ready and put on your armor of thick skinned jacket.
You wrote:
"I must apologise to my numerous fans on Ghanaweb for not being regular with my articles."
Your numerous fans? Are you kidding? Stop this self delusion and get real. Besides me and a handful of misguided visitors here who are fascinated by your "Listology", who among your Dentsefo Asafo is a fan of your articles? Nobody else. None. You write on good topics but your articles are needlessly to long and sometimes have this insinuating academic tone. Glad I didn't see a Gompertz curve in this one.
In expressing concern about poorly written articles with grammatical errors and unchecked facts, you commit a few blunders along the way before finishing that rant of a paragraph.
Pretend I'm your highly paid editor reading through your article before approving it for publication and I come across the following sentence of yours:
"Some articles are poorly written, with a lot of grammatical errors. Sometimes, some articles are full of damned lies, concoctions and insults, with facts twisted. Some contributors express their opinions on raging issues in highly sensational and emotional manner, with a lot of bias, instead of in a balanced manner."
"SOME" for Sale
I counted four "Some", including "Sometimes" in that entire paragraph. Talk about inelegant sentences and poor writing, Do you think you're qualified to judge good writing, grammar and Winneba jargons?
I need to buy some of your numerous "some" on sale for a Christmas gift. How much are they? I think I have some Macutas and Kwachas to purchase enough for your our entire extended family.
That bother"Some" sentence could've been:
"Some articles are poorly written, with a lot of grammatical errors. Others are full of damned lies, concoctions, insults and twisted facts. twisted. And there are Ghanaweb writers who express their opinions on raging issues in highly sensational and emotional manner, with a lot of bias, instead of in a balanced manner."
I hope you'll stop throwing stones from your uncompleted glass house.
This is the part that gets me all wound up, when you wrote:
"The same can be said of many of our forumers and contributors, some of whom are abysmally miseducated and semi-literate."
How dare you label all those Ghanaweb authors who append their lengthy credentials to their articles "miseducated" and "semi literate"?
Are you aware most of them are "PhD's" including Ahoofe, and an attorney who calls himself "Dr SAS"? Do you want to disregard those who reveal the timeline of their studies to attain Ph D and others who write poems claiming to be oral historians and PhD?
Repent for this apostasy else your "numerous" fans will be reduced to an unhappy single hooligan-me! You're not going to hear any applause anymore when people read your articles. Only your poor cousin, Kwesi Mintah will be left applauding amid the jeers that come your way.
Cheers or jeers continue writing but limit your articles to a page. I'll give you a pass on the listology in your article (limited to a list of past Ghanaian journalists).
This time you avoided dead historic European textbook authors and the much dreaded Gompertz curve. Thank you very much.
For a Winneba lad who grew treading the beaches barefoot to school, you've become too elitist for my taste. Do you know what the Web has brought to humankind? Unprecedented access to information, freedom and the right to authorship. Anybody can write anything on the Web and I'll continue to do so to exercise my right as an armchair critic numero uno.
When you finish that fancy glass house of yours, please don't throw stones and remember to check your facts. It is not "Chao" as you concluded. That sounded like the name of a Chinese chef.
Write "Ciao" instead.
Saalute from forehead to waist with a thundering uproarious foot stomp, whaaaam!

Mr. Kwesi Atta Sakyi,
The way we see it, Ghanaweb is cacophonous, but insipid, it is not!
Seems to us after so many articles, the earliest of which date back to 2011, you have not yet mastered the general audience of Ghanaweb. In addition, from this essay, we must conclude you have a rather low opinion of other "Ghanaweb writers." Even worse, you assume every "columnist" on Ghanaweb is a journalist, wants to practice journalism, or is even interested in journalism. But then, even you, it is a "hobby."
We could write more, but we will elect to save our electronic ink with these two items.
ITEM 1: Seems to us "critical thinking and careful scrutiny" (self-reflection in Prof Lungu-speak) are as much desired of you and your "write-ups," as they are desired of others with equal capacity, benefit of age, education, and life experience.
ITEM 2: When you next write your article in Fante for Ghanaweb, know that you yourself will be greatly contributing the Ghanaweb cacophony!
But, congratulations on your new teaching position.
