President Mahama did promise after the elections to call the political party leaders together for a tete-a-tete on problems facing the country.

It does appear that the adversarial climate emanating from the ongoing court case has prevented this meeting taking place.

We must wean ourselves away from relying on foreign money and foreign companies to develop our country.

We have all the resources and skills we need. Let us utilise these resources ourselves and only bring in foreign expertise where we lack the know-how.

Let us encourage the diaspora to make our country benefit from the expertise which is serving other countries so well. Our embassies can help by facilitating knowledge and skill transfer from the diaspora to our country. The skills database set up by the High Commission here in London is a good start. But this must lead to a greater engagement with Ghanaian professionals and experts in the diaspora to explore further how their expertise can be made available to our country.

Foreign companies are only out to make a profit. We have a stake in the development of our country. If we do not develop our country, no one will do it for us!

Judging from the parties we have in Ghana, I don't think we will ever get the opportunity to have your "Turnaround Leader." It can only happen when we are blessed with peoples' revolution with a benevolent dictator just like Kagame.

Yes, a leader that would rise up against his own members or ministers, whose only jobs are to go to FM Radios to insult the opposition. That should be the first task to bring the people together for the work that is ahead of him. The politics of insult should be the first thing he should deal with and it should starts from him and his members.

A leader that will not put square pegs in round holes. Why should we have people who have no clue about healthcare industry manning our health Ministry? That leader should reach for knowledgeable leaders who will come and help him with his vision. They should not only come from his or her tribe.

The President should reduced the Ministries and make his salary and that of MPs, Ministers and their Deputies public. And moreover cancel all per diem being doled out to public and civil servants. How can a country that depend on borrowing have over 100 ministers and 375 MPs, who are being paid handsomely and yet, do nothing to advance our country?

These are the first things a great leader has to start in our country. If he has to achieve his goals, and get people involved in his "revolution," ACCOUNTABILITY, HONESTY and TRANSPARENCY should be his priority. Without that, he would get nowhere with his visions.

These could be done less than 3 months in office. His next challenge is the DECENTRALIZATION. The people should have the right to choose their own Regional, Municipal, District and Assembly men. It is only this will leaders become accountable to their action because they know that they will face the wrath of the people. After that, why should Agriculture ministry be at Accra and not Brong Ahafo Region. Why should Fishing Ministry be at Accra and not Central or Volta Region? And Mining industry not in Eastern or Western Region. Why should someone from Bolgatanga come to Accra to make his passport? Can we have another Airport at Kintampo or Tamale? All these are to give the youth jobs while simultaneously allowing them to stay where they are instead of flooding to Accra.

The comes the challenge of what is termed as WET ( Water & Electricity & Toilet) by some people. How could we talk of ITs while we are blessed with DUMSO everyday? Could we do anything without Water and Electricity? This should be his first challenge. And make sure those building mansions and businesses everywhere will have toilets. We will never advance if nothing is done about our water and electricity problem.

I can't not believe that a country with a size smaller than Texas and yet, no leader has come to think of making dual carriageway highways from North to south and east to west. With 4 of that from south to North ( Axim to Tumu, Cape Coast thru Kumasi to Navrongo, Accra thru Tamale to Bawku and then Anloga to yendi). And 4 from East to West (HO to Wiawso; Kadjebi to Berekum; Bimbila to Bole; and Wawjawga to Wa). Yes, if a leader set his mind on that, it could be done.

These are the basics, that could be done. The rest like Education, Economy and our Healthcare will could follow along as we try to develop. People don't realize that all our people are centered in Accra, Kumasi and Cape & T'di and Sunyani. Many doctors don't want to go anywhere except these places and that is the problem.

Ghana just needs only few good men with vision to turn things around.

If I didn't know you as a prolific author who tries to deliver on worthy topics, I would've dismissed your article in mid paragraph and branded you semi-literate.

I don't think you understand that fundamental workings of national governance or the structures that make it work.

You seem to think most of Ghana's intractable problems are academic and if only a certain textbook pattern or recommendation is followed, then all will be well. If only Mahama can mimic the antics of Paul Kagame, all will be fine in Ghana. I don't like to upbraid you but I have no choice but brand you an incoherent illiterate.

So now you're borrowing from all these motivational and therapeutic jargon, "Turnaround Leadership", only to sell us some cockamamie idea about handing over contracts to Julius Berger because Nigeria did so in the '70's. Ever heard of German company Carl Ploetner? The morphed into Construction Pioneers and fleeced Ghana to the tune of $90 Million.

This scatter brained article of yours is not about Turnaround Leadership but a partial listology that evens mentions Moses leading the Israelites to Caanan, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Paul Kagame and more Paul Kagame.

I doubt you have a mind of your own without the influence of these personalities you read in textbooks.

One thing you should note is that a nation is only as good as its weakest link. Our weakest links are so numerous you can't number them and most are habits.

Now lets get to the lies in your article:

So want to tell me investors are turned off from Ghana because of "chronic corruption in government outfits such as IRS, customs, immigration, police, health, education, lands, among others?

What has IRS, Customs and immigration got to do with investments in Ghana?
Can any of those govt outfits prevent you from starting a goat farm in Winneba when you win the Zambian lottery? You talk by heart too much.

You possess such simplistic view of Ghana's shortcomings and its solutions. In one of your previous articles you recommended the Accra Mayor travel to Lagos to copy from the notes of the Lagosian Mayor. Now you recommend Mahama to copy Paul Kagame. Just tell me who to copy and I'll quit commenting on your articles. Who should I copy from? Copying solves all the problems, uh?

And then this silly statements:

The world indeed has seen some remarkable feats by certain individuals who single-handedly steered a nation to prosperity. Isn't it amazing what Nkrumah could achieve in just a few years!

Yet, I'm also intrigued by very prosperous nations that don't seem to have a "star figure" at the helm.
China comes to mind. You could have them lose a leader practically every year and I bet you wouldn't see much change in the direction of their fortunes.
I suspect they FIRMLY have in place a star SYSTEM rather than just a visionary person. In the case of America, believe it or not, it is a TEAM of experts, under the watchful eye of Congress, that leads the country behind the scenes. Thus even with major ideological shifts in leadership, the nation marches on relatively unperturbed.

Ghana needs a team of great experts, strategic thinkers, functional institutions, and above all
a fool-proof SYSTEM of governance!

A "Turnaround leader" or a great leader who brings along great people to work with will eventually put systems or institutions in place and that is what Black Africa countries, like Ghana need.

Coming to our own continent, Seretse Khama, decided to turn Botswana around after its independence. He changed the poorest country to one of the fastest growing economy in Africa in just less than 15 yrs. He did so by fighting against Corruption. Currently, Botswana is the least corrupt Nation in Africa and the fast growing economy in Africa.

When a leader is corrupt like the one we have in Ghana, what do you think the strategic thinkers can do? And how could you put functional institutions in place when the leader and his ministers are all corrupt?

I think when some of you hear about strong men, you assume we are talking about Idi Amin, Mombutu, Mugabe, Ghadafi and the rest. No, Ghana needs a strong man like Seretse or Lee Kuan Yew type to bring the changes we need. Without them, there would be no strategic thinkers, functional institutions or any system.
